Perfect Bay Area getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Skip a stay in Sonoma or Napa and explore everything Mendocino has to offer - from wineries to fishing to the charms of Hopland and Boonville - from this HUGE, gorgeous, well stocked, comfortable and conveniently located home right off 101.

My husband, three friends and their two children (ages 6 and 3) and I had a wonderful stay here over New Year's weekend. We were all looking for a getaway, within two hours of SF where we live, that had plenty of room and was well stocked for a holiday of cooking, lounging, and exploring Mendocino. Adriane and Charlotte's house fit the bill. It was large enough that we never felt crowded - the bedrooms are massive, and there was plenty of space upstairs and down for the kids to be on their own. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked - everything you would need, from French presses to complimentary popcorn to plenty of dishes. The property is very well maintained - immaculately clean - and while some of the furnishings were described in other reviews as outdated, this never mattered to us given the size of the home, the decks with gorgeous views and fireplace.

A few glowing notes on Adriane and Charlotte as property managers: some reviews complained about the laminated instructions throughout the house. We never minded them, but we all appreciate over communication and clear instructions. They were prompt in responding to me, available the day of arrival to check in, and returned my security deposit very quickly. And the welcome basket, chock full of snacks and a bottle of sparkling wine? A lovely touch!

All of us agreed we would stay here again, and I highly encourage Bay Area residents looking for a wine country getaway to not overlook this home and Hopland's charms; and for visitors to California to explore Mendocino County from this large, comfortable getaway home.

100/10 fantastic vacation property!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was in the first week of April 2015 - the calendar wouldn't let me choose the date correctly!

We celebrated my sister's 40th birthday at this wonderful location. This review comes very late, but better late than never. My cousins, sister and I had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay here with our little kids. Beautiful sprawling vineyard all around us, plenty of space inside and out for kids to run around. We were looking for a house with some water feature - but we didn't miss it one bit.

We had a warm , freshly baked pie with almonds and pistachios awaiting us - it was delicious!

The large kitchen was stocked more than generously - from cooking supplies to dishes, pots and cutlery! Large dining table to seat at least 12 people!

The deck outside also has an eating area, where we enjoyed a sumptuous lunch talking and taking in the sun, mountains and breeze.

Rooms are all comfortably furnished and stocked. The large living room with extra large picture windows was perfect for spending time playing games, chatting and singing away!

Overall, we had a fantastic stay and it was a memorable birthday not only for the birthday girl, but for each and every one of us! We recall our time here with longing!

I'd definitely want to come and stay here again!

Beautiful, quiet and nostalgic

  • 5 of 5

We had the opportunity to stay at Damiano Vineyards for a wedding that was held at Red Barn Ranch (just about a mile from the house). The home was lovely and nestled in the middle of the vineyards. Looking out the windows and from the deck to the grape vines was so peaceful.

The home was well-stocked with everything we needed and we loved, loved, loved the welcome basket of goodies from the owners. They even left bottled water in the fridge! Everything was spotless and clean. Having loads of living space was perfect for our large group. There was plenty of room for all of us to relax.

Feels like a home in the "Family"

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this hill-top home that is surrounded by Merlot vineyards. From the home and its yard, 360 degree vistas of the surrounding vineyards and ridge tops look just like the Napa and Alexander Valleys that we drove through to get there. The sunset view from the west facing upstairs deck was magnificent while enjoying several local wines and a family dinner.

The kitchen is well stocked and the beds were beautifully prepared for our arrival. The surrounding area is very peaceful and our security was never in question. "Peaceful" is a perfect description for this setting.

I would love to visit again during the fall to see the colors that would bathe this beautiful and intimate area. I, personally enjoyed staying at this working vineyard while imagining what it would be like to be a grape grower?? A most enjoyable weekend and we will return!! Thanks Charlotte ... for everything!

FYI. Enjoy an afternoon bocci ball outing at Brutocao Cellars just down the road....great fun!

Rental for the Wedding Party

  • 4 of 5

My (now) wife and I stayed here with our wedding party for a couple of nights around our wedding at Brutocao's Contento vineyard. There's not a lot in Hopland proper, and it was really nice being able to stay close to the venue site. The property is very convenient, there's a ton of space and it's a pretty spot.

The house itself could definitely use a bit of updating - it felt very, very dated. The owners also left laminated instructions EVERYWHERE in the house, which everyone found a bit overbearing.

There is a ton of space in the house, along with a pretty nice deck. Even with a full house, it never felt cramped at all. We didn't have a huge bridal party, but it was still enough room for both the ladies and the guys to get ready with no overlap. Didn't use the kitchen a ton, but it seemed very functional. Plenty of bathrooms and parking as well.

Really, the biggest benefits of this house are the overall space and the location in Hopland. They made it a great place to stay and we were really happy with it.

Wonderful getaway house

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here for 4 days for my nieces's wedding. We loved the beautiful setting, the spaciousness of the house and the lovely deck. We enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner out on the deck as well as just relaxing. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed. It was very close to the wedding site at Brutocao Contento vineyard. I would definitely recommend this lovely place.
