About the host

I am Ása, your host, I and my husband Birgir, build Miðsitja when we bought the land 20 years ago and it has been our retreat since. Now we have retired, sold the land and the horses but we still keep our "palace". But as we are not staying there as much as we used to why not let other people enjoy it.

Why they chose this property

Miðsitja is in Skagafjörður - 300 km from Reykjavík. Skagafjörður is a agricultural district with lots of sheep, cows and many, many hoses. The people are friendly and I love the three out door swiming pools (Varmahlíð, Sauðárkrókur and Hofsós) in the fjord as well at at least 2 natural hot pots (Fossalaug and Reykir), Sauðárkrókur is our little village and Akureyri (the capital of the north) is only 45 min away.

What makes this property unique

Miðsitja is at a horse breeding farm, you'll have horses all around you, on the fields, been riddien in front of the house or beeing run in groups for training. You can go trecking up in the mountains or just rest. Mostly just enjoy the quiet life and nature.
