About Galena Reservations/A+ Reservations
I was born and raised in the Galena area. My family has been managing vacation rental homes in the area for over 15 years. We love the unique and beautiful topography of the Galena area and enjoy sharing it with others.

Some Issues but Attentive Service
Had an issue with cable that went from bad to worse. Everything was done to rectify the problem and to our satisfaction. I had read reviews about a broken chair but that was gone. It's been replaced by a new electric recliner. The house was very clean and the furniture was comfortable. There were a few light bulbs that needed to be replaced and a suggestion for the front door to have a light that can stay on instead of being a motion sensor light. It doesn't turn on until you're pretty close to the door and it's a long, dark walk with some steps down to get there. It would also be a plus if it stayed on for security.
Great (relatively) private location*; really nice layout; clean. As others have mentioned, it is a bit "dated", and you should bring your own toiletries; if you are particular about your cookware, bring that as well (although the kitchen is adequate). *Favorite feature: it's pretty private and has a nice view of a wooded area; good access to hiking trails.
Have to do a 2.5 this time around
We rented the same space last year, and were excited to come back to the same. But this time around, maybe due to a new management company, was less than impressed. While it’s great space, was very surprised by a number of things. At least 8 -10 of the lights were burnt out/inoperable - track lights, bathroom lights, missing switches. The downstairs bathroom lacked a shower bath mat, the the shower curtain liner was mildewed. The upstairs bathroom didn’t even have a curtain liner.
We decide to cook breakfast in, then found that the meager supply of pots and pans didn’t even include any pan lids. The one Teflon pan I did try to use for a couple eggs was severely cut up. If you stay here, don’t plan any cooking ventures.
Having rented places in the territory for the last 15 years, was complacent in reviewing the lease this time around. My bad! This management company listed that they don’t even supply the complementary small cake of soap, but have “hand soap.” No tissue, and don’t expect to even find a salt/pepper shaker, or small packets of sugar. 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom is your limit. And I also missed the lease info that you should plan to find alternative means to cool your food, other than the fridge for the 1st day you’re there, as it most likely won’t be cold enough when you arrive. I made my reservation more than 2 months ago. Would think it would have been move-in ready?
Not usually critical, and haven’t posted a negative comment like this before. The “welcome mat” bar has certainly changed. This management company, or maybe the owners, may be penny wise, but pound foolish.
Will have to look more closely at the terms next year, if we decide to come back. Hope things get better!
Had everything we needed, beds comfortable and loved the screened in porch.
Beautiful grounds, quite and nice restaurant.
Would have picked something different with bedrooms on same floor
The house was a little outdated and having to walk down the stairs to get to the main level was a little strange.
There were lights burned out, loud fan in downstairs bathroom. Our friends had to turn the mattress in the upstairs bedroom to try and get a good night sleep. It also seemed there was a lot of dust on fans and clocks. Couldn't plug in light by table due to the wifi being plugged in. Maybe an outlet strip? And could not close blinds in downstairs bedroom. Had to put a blanket over the window
Overall, the house served its purpose for us. Next time we look closer at the houses before booking anything.
Delightful get away
Very cute clean house, plenty of hot water and towels. Just big enough for two - four people. So many things to do in the Galena area, a weekend is almost not enough.
