About the property

2 BD, 2BA - 5 minutes from the lifts

Our mountain retreat has been a family affair for years and now you also have the opportunity to enjoy the condo and 12 months of recreation opportunities. Even if you are here for a conference, you should find a little time for R&R.

Alice took the photos and her skills leave a bit to be desired but she is still a 'photographer's work in progress'. Also, we have a bit more decorating to do including the addition of a couple chairs in the living area.

From our 2nd story condo with cathedral-ceiling you will have the very best views of Andesite Mountain and Mountain Village Town Center - it is a site to see at night with all the lights!

'Homey and comfortable' are the terms our friends use to describe the place. Our decor reflects Montana's Big Sky Country showcasing the great out-of-doors.

In addition to our 2 comfy bedrooms/2 baths there is a linen closet and storage room for your use.

Off the dining area is a balcony with $1 million view. A great place to bask in the afternoon sun or watch the sunset. If you stay in the winter months, we also provide a shovel for you to keep the deck clear of snow - and we get a lot of it!

For skis, poles, boards, boots or more storage, there is also a keyed locker in the hall for your private use.

You are on your own for food but you will always find the essential staples - coffee, tea, salt, pepper, cooking spray, Mrs. Dash, sugar, sweetener, flour, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, and coffee filters. Just fire up the crock pot and then enjoy the day!

The 40 in. flat screen TV has channels galore; WiFi internet is password protected and only for your use; and cell service is very good.

There are plenty of activities to do in and around Big Sky all year long. Whether you ski or snowboard in the winter or like to hike, zipline, mountain bike, fish, visit Yellowstone National Park and take in the farmers market and cultural events in the spring, summer or fall, Big Sky and the surrounding area has what you are looking for. At the end of the day, consider a special meal or dip in the hot tub at the main lodge at Mountain Village or Moonlight Basin. For your convenience, there is a free shuttle to these areas as well as the Town Center, Meadow Village and Buck's T-4.

While the condo is in the Mountain Village, it is just a short drive to a multitude of recreation - but near to Bozeman - an exploding medical, cultural, commercial, university and hi-tech community.

If you are considering other options or have more than 6 people, please take a look at our Comfy Country Retreat (VRBO #47536). It is located between Bozeman and Big Sky at the southern end of the Gallatin Valley and about a 45 minute drive to Big Sky's Mountain Village.

About Alice & Lloyd, Gallatin Gateway, MT

Alice came to Montana more than 35 years ago to attend graduate school at Montana State University. She loved it so much that she was determined to return when she retired. Lloyd met Alice in Nebraska. Alice's only requirement for getting married was that Lloyd had to be willing to move to Montana when they retired. So here we are!!! We each have a PhD in soil physics and enjoyed careers working in agricultural and environmental research and extension. Lloyd was a federal agricultural scientist in Nebraska and conducted research on rainfall - induced soil detachment, animal waste management, irrigation management, conservation tillage, soil compaction and soil quality. Alice was a professor at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She conducted most of her research on farm fields specializing in rain - induced soil erosion on steep hillsides, soil compaction, reduced tillage systems, and crop production under drought conditions. Her work as a state extension specialist focused on translating research results on the above (and associated) topics into useful information for farmers, ranchers, agricultural companies, and local, state and federal agency personnel. She also served with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. for two years. First as a Water Quality Grant Manager and then as the National Director of the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SARE). We love all four seasons here in Montana and shy away from becoming snowbirds! However, we do enjoy traveling around Montana when we have the time. Many of our recent Montana travels coincide with visits from our grandson from Houston. He is a real outdoorsman and a fantastic photographer.

Alice & Lloyd, Gallatin Gateway, MT purchased this condo in 2000

Why Alice & Lloyd, Gallatin Gateway, MT chose Big Sky

Montana is very, very special to us and we truly enjoy sharing it with others. We came home to Montana when we retired and had the opportunity to purchase this property a few years later. Alice used the Big Sky area for hiking, fishing and skiing back in the 1970s and 80s. Also, she took some soils classes that focused on timbered mountain soils and geology in the Big Sky area. Since the early days of Alice & Chet Huntley, the resort has really grown up but continued to be a family - oriented place for summer and winter recreation. For us, Big Sky is just another little piece of paradise. It is definitely Big Sky at its best!

What makes this condo unique

You say you want to to travel around the area to see historical and cultural sites, recreate, tour Yellowstone national park as well as sight see and shop in bozeman? This central location allows you to get to most of these activities within one hour. Is it quiet here? You bet! Quiet hours are strictly enforced as is the no smoking policy. Great condo, perfect for family of 4

  • 5 of 5

The condo was very clean and had all the necessities. It was close to the resort to walk (without gear). The parking shuttles are very convenient for getting from the resort to the condo.

We watched the NYE fireworks from the warm comfort of the condo.

Well Equipped Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The condo is close to the mountain. Great view of the slopes. The unit is well equipped and we had no issues. There is a ski locker in the enclosed hallway. Keeping the ski gear out of the condo increased the overall living space. This condo is easy to get to and there was ample parking.

Clean, well stocked, condo

  • 5 of 5

This property was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and all cooking supplies necessary to eat in. The rooms have plenty of windows, and the view from the couch is beautiful. It is close enough to Big Sky's base area to be very convenient, but far enough away that it is quiet and relatively light in traffic. The Building itself is very quiet. The price was certainly competitive with other similar properties. Would recommend to anyone!

Well kept, comfortable condo

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed staying at the condo. The owner was very responsive when we had a question or any little issue. It was a little bit far from Big Sky, but that could just as easily be a plus. The condo was well kept, comfortable which allowed a care-free enjoyable stay. We would highly recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Sounds like a great time was had by all. We are the owners of the condo and live a ways north of Big Sky. As you know, Big Sky is a multi-part town with the Meadow Village, Mountain Village and Town Center all being several miles apart. So our condo in Mountain Village is the farthest distance from us. Thanks for the comments about our speedy reply to your needs!

Lovely mountain condo at Big Sky

  • 5 of 5

We spent three months this winter at this beautiful condo. It is very clean, comfortable and well appointed. There is a lovely view of the ski runs on Andesite Mountain. The kitchen is extremely well equipped for such a long term stay. We really appreciated the "welcome" bowl of fresh fruit. The bedrooms are well arranged. The master has an ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom has two twin beds; a plus in ski country. Most other second bedrooms we have experienced contain bunk beds, which are not appreciated by visiting adults. There is ample room in both bedrooms for clothes storage (large closets as well as dressers). The open concept living area is very comfortable for four adults. There are a few different options for getting to the ski hill (which is not far away). The owners were always prompt to address any concerns we had. They went out of their way to make sure that everything was in order. They are very friendly and are excellent landlords. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Great condo

  • 4 of 5

As advertised. Very clean. Owners very nice and easy to work with.

Used the condo as a base for hiking trips and whitewater rafting. Great trails within 30 minutes. Drove to Yellowstone one day. Nice drive, about an hour and a half each way.

Most comfortable bed ever!!!!!

Can not comment on places to eat, cooked in each day..

Would use it again for Big Sky area.
