About Mike Hagan

This property was built By the Hoffman family which which were and still are friends of the family. the original cabin was found in a featured Better Homes and Gardens magazine and that's why it ws built. My parents purchased the property and built a very large addition and the property has landed in my possession. this was my childhood summer home, i have many fond memories of this place, i live in the Twin Cities now and i try to make it home as much as i can...i felt that turning into a VRBO property i could share it with others and still have the ability to use it myself when i could.

Mike Hagan purchased this cabin in 1968

Why Mike Hagan chose South Dakota

This was my childhood summer home i enjoyed many days fishing, hunting and waterskiing here my parents worked very hard to make this place very special and blessed me with its safe keeping.

What makes this cabin unique

the lake home is very close to many activities i Love to do fishing, hunting, golfing and seeing old friends...it is very close to town but far enough away to be a hideaway very quiet and peaceful...its easy to just enjoy the views of the lake and daydream an afternoon away. this property is perfect for family reunions and or summer or winter gatherings as well.

Help - my home remodel is killing me!

  • 4 of 5

On a Wednesday afternoon I decided that the thought of us and our 8 year old spending the whole weekend in a house torn apart due to bathroom remodel was too much. Temps forecast for upper 90's was the final decision maker. I had looked at Hunters Retreat previously - this time I acted. Mark was quick to respond with Fri/Sat booking and even obliged when we decided to stay Sunday night. Great place - friendly neighbors - 12 miles away from home. It was just what the doctor ordered. Don't miss out on this one - it's everything it is supposed to be. ****

Another Great Hunting Week At a Wonderful Location in a Beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

The Owners of this property are what make it a five star destination. The kitchen is very well equipped and everything is extremely well-maintained. Mike and Ed are so accommodating that you really do want to leave it better than when you arrived. We are already in line for the Pheasant Opening next year. All I can say is that if this property is available when you have set your dates, "lucky you!"

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

Our family (3 generations) stayed here for a weekend while attending our niece's wedding in Aberdeen. The house had enough room for all of us to spread out and was equipped with everything we needed. Having Lake Mina steps away from the door was fun for the kids. They spent most of their free time casting off the dock and caught a whopper the morning we were leaving the house. Mike was easy to work with and made sure our stay was comfortable. We would highly recommend this house to anyone.

Lovely location understated by the website photos.

  • 5 of 5

The house is very well-equiped and extremely clean and well maintained. Owners were very helpful assisting us with both our arrival and our departure, a week later. We were there as hunters for the opening of the pheasant season, and we all currently plan to return next year.

I would highly recommend the property to anyone. Great Place!

Graduation Party Rental is flat fee of $900/day example 5/1- 7am-10pm. Must have parent or guardian onsite at ALL times. This isn't a place to book for your kids to party, it is a beautiful place to host your graduation party so you do not have to remodel your house...cook your food onsite with gas and charcoal grills or arrange for catering to be brought in...great views of the lake plenty of space for serving and dining, huge decks and screened in porch. Absolutely NO UNDERAGE DRINKING Tolerated! Violation of this policy will result in a meeting with Edmunds County Sherriff.

Regarding the damage deposit...I do not require a large cash damage deposit I do require guest to purchase Damage insurance which is an $89 insurance policy that would cover broken or stolen items up to a maximum of $5000. this is to help keep large deposit costs down for travelers this also encourages them to tell owner if something is broken instead of trying to hide damage.

Holiday weeks: July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Opening weekend pheasant hunting require weeks rental at $360/ night.
