Dealing with Karen, the owner, beforehand was a pleasure. She is so positive, and informative about the area, getting there etc. She has an amazing folder set up at the apartment with tips & recommendations, and a comment book that makes really interesting reading! The variety of things to do in the area is huge. However as sun-starved Irish we mainly craved the pool and beaches! Karen has everything ready made for a beach trip with seats, mats, umbrellas, beach towels etc. It was fab to just load up the car and go. Our favourite beach by a long shot was St Juan de la Torreos .We had some memorable meals in the region, best meal at night was at Bellavista, in Mojacar. Great food, unbelievable value, lovely owners who speak great english. The pool was a big draw too, with none of the usual vying for seats, as one has to bring chairs from the apartment themselves! Ingenious. Pool and adjoining area spotless. Met lovely people there too, a good mix of nationalities. Al Andalus Hills is a tastefully designed complex, where privacy is assured, the gardeners are working from morning til night to keep the area pristine! If I had to make a suggestion it would be to request the Spanish children and teenagers on site who congregate behind the apartment to hang out (all perfectly acceptable) to limit it to midnight perhaps...if I had sufficient spanish I would have spoken to them myself. However it was high summer and we took it on the chin, there was no rowdiness, just teenage banter.
Do yourself a favour and book Karen's apartment, its so well thought out, the en suite and separate bathroom with bath are ideal. We spent lots of time relaxing and eating on the balcony, the terrain is so different to home! The mini market is a short walk from the complex, with a bar and restaurant serving good food, made to order, by friendly staff. This place buzzed from morning until evening!
Enjoy!
