About Kimberly Bolos
I grew up in a small neighboring town just outside Niagara Falls and left the area to attend and eventually graduate from SUNY Geneseo. I relocated to Dallas, TX for a career opportunity but have returned to the area every summer to take in its beauty and many local attractions. Now married with small children of my own, our family sought out and purchased this vacation property. While we reside in Dallas, local relatives manage this property.
Kimberly Bolos purchased this House in 2012
Why Kimberly Bolos chose Wilson
We sought out this property because of its personal history with my family. It is the same property I would walk past with my dad on our way from the ice cream shop out to the end of the pier. We would wonder what it would be like to own and live in such a beautiful house with such a beautiful view. Western New York and this particular region hold so much natural beauty and provide so many affordable healthy activities that my husband and I want our children to share in these experiences. We share this home with you as a special place to vacation, reconnect with family and create special memories year after year.
What makes this House unique
The location is perfect! Coming from Dallas, TX it is wonderful to enter a relaxing small town atmosphere yet still have access to several activities, attractions, restaurants and shops as you would in a city. It is located across the street from a bustling boathouse, quaint upscale restaurant, and several small shops. Need some fresh vegetables? Drive down the road and stop at one of the many roadside stands whose farmers still accept payment by the honor system. We appreciate this home's proximity to Canada as well as the neighboring U.S. cities such as Lockport, Lewiston, Niagara Falls & Buffalo (quick access to Canada can be made via the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge).

Enjoyable stay in Wilson!!
We enjoyed our stay at this property. The location was within 15-30 minutes from nearby attractions: Niagara Falls, Fort Niagara, Ontario, etc. The house was very clean, spacious, and the kitchen was equipped with all the necessities. Having a washer and dryer was definitely a plus. The area was very quiet and peaceful and the views of the lake were fabulous. We were able to enjoy some rest and relaxation after long days of touring. Kim and JR were very responsive to our needs and questions and were interested in making sure our stay was comfortable. Highly recommend the Wilson Boat House restaurant which is across the street for the Friday fish fry. The portions were generous and the food was delicious. There are many other options on the menu as well. Should we return to this area in the future we would stay here again.

A Most Wonderful Stay
Location, Location, Location! This was such a great base for sightseeing around the Lake Ontario/Niagara Falls area. And at the end of our long days of riding and sightseeing, it was such a treat to come home to this little oasis on the lake. The view is spectacular and at night there is a wonderful little fire pit area to enjoy with a beer or glass of wine from one of the regions wineries. Kimberly was very easy to do business with, prompt with responses and the house was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We also were very thankful that there was a fabulous restaurant across the street. The food was delicious and the staff so friendly. If ever traveling through this area in the future, we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
Beautiful location on Lake Ontario in Wilson, NY
Ideal for small family; 1 king, 1 queen, and a bunk room.
Not as advertised
Here are the issues I had with a house:
1. When we arrived we discovered there was no parking as described in write up. Would have been nice for the owner to let us know we'd need to park in a public lot vice having to figure that out ourselves
2. No dock as we were led to believe. Lake house with no dock has limited value.
3. The home does not have a hot tub. If the house had a membership to the pool that allows residents to use the pool and facilities then it has a hot tub. I guess with this logic the home sleeps 10 if you buy a room from the local inn.
4. The home is next door to a sewage plant that stinks when the wind blows east or there is no wind. Would have been nice to know this piece of information if one wants to enjoy outdoors.
5 I guess the fire pit is shared with the neighbors? They are using it to smoke, so I assume they were given permission. Not cool at all having to ask our children to stay away from strangers smoking in the back yard.
6. Sewage backs up into the shower when both showers are being used simultaneously. Having a note asking residents not to flush trash and feminine products indicates they knew about the issue, and that is not acceptable - this needs to be fixed.
Had we know these issues we would have looked for another home. First time using VRBO vice a real estate agent. We’ll be using a real estate agent to book our next home.
We are disappointed to see this review.
Added effort put forth to make sure your VRBO experience was a great one. Most guests do not ask for as much service prior to a stay. We always ask our guests to contact us during a stay should they have any needs but we were not contacted. 1)The home has never advertised to have a hot tub on-site. The listing clearly stated, “At communal pool complex …see [the site] for details” 2)We use this home often and have never smelled anything other than the lake, which can smell when it turns over after a storm. I don’t see how the restaurants across the street would be possible if there were a regular odor. 3)The home is a private home and we have never had any issues with our neighbor. They assist us with the home and are highly reputable members of the community. He is an attorney and president of the local enhancement charity. In addition, we have much younger children than yours who freely use the outdoor areas. It is the peacefulness, safeness, and wonderful people of NY that make this home special. 4) As a precaution, we have done a plumbing inspection. No issue was found. The guest before you enjoyed their stay so much so that they added a night. Following your stay, 3 other groups have used the home with no issue. 5) As stated up front in the contract agreement at booking, the home operates using a grinder. As such, no waste other than toilet paper should be disposed. This does not indicate an issue but rather a different sewage system, common for the area. 6)The listing has never stated it has a dock. The home does have water access. No home docks on the lake but rather in the harbor due to the size of the body of water. 7)We are unsure how to respond to your comment about accommodations for 10. The listing has a clear 8-person limit. Your group was stated to have only 7. 8)The home has ample parking and many guests use the pier parking immediately to the West as a preference. The concrete drive was a much-needed upgrade. We apologize for not making you aware before your stay. This was an oversight as we comfortably park on either side of the home. Again, accept our sincerest apologies.
Great location, quiet, easy to use
Lovely place that worked for exactly what we needed it to. Plenty of space, easy directions of what was needed to be done upon check in and check out. No issues. Will likely rent here again.
Close to the pier, allowing for our 8 year old to go fishing on the pier while we were in the yard watching (he is a great swimmer, so that wasn’t an issue). Quiet street allowing for walking easily and not having to drive all over if we didn’t want to. Quaint little town. Perfect view of the lake. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!!

beautiful view and family friendly
It was very clean and had everything we needed and more! The view was spectacular and close to Niagara Falls. It was peaceful and had lots of games for family time. We even enjoyed a few apples from the back yard!
Western NY is full of fun activities and attractions for all ages! Niagara Falls, US and Niagara Falls, Canada are a must see. There are also several wineries & vineyard tours, farms, state parks, local festivals, and carnivals & outdoor concerts held regularly nearby and in town. This summer our family enjoyed: outdoor concerts, Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum w/several restored kid rides, Olcott Beach Carrousel Park w/several restored kid rides, Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours, walks/run along the lake shore, Splash Park in Krull County Park, Youngstown Firemen's Field Day (carnival, concerts, food!), campfires, and eating at our favorite eateries such as Viola's Submarines on Military Road in Niagara Falls after a day of shopping at the well known Niagara Factory Outlet Mall...and the list goes on!! Perhaps next summer we will charter a boat to do some Salmon fishing? The possibilities are endless!
