great beach house
good beach house. kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed for a 2 week stay cooking for 8. very confortable for pets. washer and dryer work great. outdoor shower is huge. theres also an ooen outdoor shower as well so everyone wasnt waiting for a shower before going into the house. light fixures were all a little sketchy and woukd get really really hot and bathroom lights flicker like strobe lights. oversll it was a great beach house close to the ocean with great views and really close to grocery store. owners were hands off but very responsive when needed. we would love to stay here again.
Overall, a great stay!
Awesome location from the beach for not a oceanfront home. Literally less than a block away from the public beach access, although it was a long walk on the actually sand to get to the ocean. Painful when it is hot outside. The house was clean, especially for a pet friendly home. PROS: location, overall cleanliness, kitchen well stocked and even had extra supplies, host provided welcome kit with few essentials, gated upper deck for our dogs to lounge and dry off on, dresser stocked with games, clean bathrooms with lots of hooks to hang towels on, enclosed patio. CONS: There were couple of old stains on the carpet, but it didn't bother us. The refrigerator inside door shelves were broken and reattached with blue duct tape that didn't work. We just didn't use that side, which was okay with us because there was still plenty of room.
Overall, it was a great stay and I appreciated the owner reaching out on our second day to make sure everything was okay.
Future renters be aware: there were a lot of mosquitoes in the area, especially at night, and the upper enclosed patio did an awesome job of keeping most of them outside. However, I recommend bringing bug spray and/or lanterns to use downstairs and to and from the beach. Also, bring your own linen (sheets (both fitted and flat) and pillowcases. The house is also located by a public beach access, so you will have travelers parking on the sides of the street to use it. Wasn't an issue though, but for those that prefer more privacy or seclusion....
We really enjoyed our time at Tidewatch. The house is very comfortable. We were close to the beach. The kitchen was spacious and gave our family plenty of room to cook and enjoy meals together. It was a perfect place for the four of us. Don’t know if it wouldn’t have seemed crowded with anymore people. For our family it was perfect. Not fancy but homey. The outside shower was great and the boys enjoyed having it! They also enjoyed the short walk from the house to Muffins and Scones to get their morning treat - cute bakery- great treats and wonderful coffee! Overall very clean, nice place and we would certainly go back! Thanks for providing an affordable single family place to vacation in!
Nice family cottage close to the beach
Came down to OBX with friends and had a great time here. Beach is within easy walking distance. Also, some restaurants and shops are close enough to walk to or a quick drive. (Tip: Try to avoid grocery store on Sat or Sun when everyone is stocking up for their week at the beach if you can or you'll be waiting in line a long time.) Cottage was clean and kitchen was pretty well stocked with items you might need, but small spoons are in short supply. It would have been nice to have box fans in all of the bedrooms for some white noise and to stir the air. The walls are thin so if you're a light sleeper like me it could be an issue. Also, bring your own 13 gal. trash bags for kitchen; there were none we we arrived. We left some for the next guests. It was nice to have keycode to enter house, so you don't have to worry about losing the key while swimming or on the beach and more than one person can have code instead of having to keep track of one key. We loved having the "widow's walk" on top to view stars at night or to enjoy the view & breeze in the evenings. All in all we'd recommend this cottage and we'd be happy to stay here again.
Enjoyable stay/Highly recommend
We had a great time. The weather was great. The only problem we had were the outside steps. My 84 year old mom had a little trouble getting up them. Because there is no railing on the bottom 3 steps it was hard for her to come down also. Everything else was wonderful. The owners are very nice and attentive.
The house was very clean and had everything needed except linens which was a little inconvenient to have to pack all that extra stuff. Loved the location and that we were able to bring our two small dogs. Also loved that the property had a washer and dryer which was really convenient having to bring all the linens. Loved the screened porch which provided shade and privacy. The proximity to the beach was awesome and it was a very nice beach. With that said, the property was very dated and in need of some TLC. The carpet in the back of the house was stained but in spite of allowing pets, the property did not smell so that was good. Thank you for sharing your property with us for the week...
Home of the world famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The Pamlico sound has become a treasured destination for windsurfing and parasailing. The surf fishing is world famous, with many local boats for hire for a deep sea fishing expedition that will leave memories for a liftime. The local resturants have a pipeline to some of the freshest seafood that you will ever taste. There are also many wholesale fish markets to bring home and prepare yourself.
Tidewatch is located a short drive from Nags Head, home of many outlet shops. A lttle futher down the road enjoy the dunes of Jockeys Ridge and Kitty Hawk, the site of the Wright brothers first flight. Take a ride in the southern direction to Hatteras Village and catch the ferry to historic Ocracoke Island where the famous pirate Blackbeard left his mark.
