About David Hudnell
This home has been in our family since 1986 and we have made many memories with both family and friends that will last a lifetime.
David Hudnell purchased this House in 1986
Why David Hudnell chose Dare County
The Outer Banks is one of the most laid back vacation spots on the East Coast. It offers great surf fishing and has also become a hot spot for windsurfers with many businesses catering to both of these sports.

Great location - everything you need!
Perfect location, easy walk to the beach. House is the perfect size and has everything you need. Kitchen was stocked well with cooking utensils. Cable tv for the rainy days and amazing covered screened in deck with table and a swing. Sadly we were there for 3 days because of hurricane but the owners were great to work with.
Perfect Family Vacation with the Pups
The Tidewatch was a great vacation home for our family. We loved the location so close to the beach. The home lived up to its description and was nicer than I expected given it allows dogs. It was clean, comfortable, and met our needs. The owners were responsive when I asked questions. Our dogs loved going on their first vacation. They loved the short trips to the beach. Definitely recommend Tidewatch as a great family and dog friendly vacation home.
Nice location and very close to beach
Enjoyed staying at Tidewatch in Avon, NC. Extremely convenient location to the wonderful Avon beach and Cape Hatteras region. Nice view of ocean and surrounding area from top deck. Dog friendly house and area. Would consider coming again.
Tidewatch is the perfect cottage beach escape!
Tidewatch provided my son (17) daughter (22) and I, the perfect family getaway! Access to the beach is only steps away, which made carrying the cooler, chairs, games, etc! very easy each day. The village of Avon provides for all the essentials, with no long drives to neighboring villages. A short walk for morning coffee and delicious muffins, or evening ice cream at DQ. Highly recommend Ketch 55, ESPECIALLY Stu's fresh donuts that are available at Ketch 55 as early as 7 am. Such a welcomed treat for the still sleeping kids! Ugly Mugs was right nearby and awesome for smoothies, fresh brew! and amazing pastries. And after all the good food and lounging in the sunshine, getting in a morning run is easily done right on the beach next door, or the Avon sidewalk that runs the length of the village. No dodging cars! Surf fishing morning or evening is a short walk, or even visiting the Avon peer just down the road. We even tracked down the old Avon Harbor nearby to do some handline crabbing on the Sound side. Of course, an evening fire on the beach and chasing ghost crabs, is an essential capstone to any great OBX vacation! And again, only a short walk from Tidewatch!
We definitely recommend this little getaway for those who want a simple and relaxing escape. Owners were super to work with throughout the experience, and the property was well stocked with all the basics, ESPECIALLY kitchen supplies!
Tidewatch is only a few steps from the beach.
Upper deck and Old Bath House was one of my favorites. Shower works great and it has a lot of room. I was able to store my paddleboard and use it at the same time! Screened deck is also a popular spot. The grill worked well and having the grill assessories including charcoal can was very handy. Rosana
Awesome property, right next to the beach
Really loved the house and Avon has awesome beaches. My suggestion to other travelers is to use your beach house and cook, because the restaurants on the island aren't very good. With that said we've spent the last three summers in the Caribbean and this was better than all of those.
Home of the world famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The Pamlico sound has become a treasured destination for windsurfing and parasailing. The surf fishing is world famous, with many local boats for hire for a deep sea fishing expedition that will leave memories for a liftime. The local resturants have a pipeline to some of the freshest seafood that you will ever taste. There are also many wholesale fish markets to bring home and prepare yourself. Tidewatch is located a short drive from Nags Head, home of many outlet shops. A lttle futher down the road enjoy the dunes of Jockeys Ridge and Kitty Hawk, the site of the Wright brothers first flight. Take a ride in the southern direction to Hatteras Village and catch the ferry to historic Ocracoke Island where the famous pirate Blackbeard left his mark.
