We purchased the Chalet in 2005, having visited Samoens initially for many years for long weekends skiing, we visited in the summer of 2003 and put our names down to purchase the property off plan, having also fallen in love with the many summer activities on offer enabling us to enjoy Samoens all year round.
We chose this property as it is in a perfect location close to the village, ski lifts and ski bus stop and in a quiet south facing setting perfect for 2 families - one per floor and for our long term requirements of sleeping up to 10, to spend time with our girls and their families.
Samoens is not your typical skiing resort - there are no high rise concrete apartment blocks here and it look more like a typical Austrian Village. It is a working town so is not just for holiday makers - many people live here all year round. It is suitable for young and old and many families return year after year as has plenty on offer for non skiers.
Being only 1 hour from Geneva airport and close to Chamonis, Les Porte de Soleil, Megeve - there is plenty of skiing on offer apart from the Grand Massif and of course all the lakes of Annecy, Geneva are only 1 hour away for summer activities.
We never thought of taking a summer holiday in the Alps as a family - as we didn't realise how much there is to do.
The area is perfect for lovers of nature, food, scenery, all outdoor pursuits and culture.
We hope that you visit and find out for yourselves - all our visitors over the past 15 years love Samoens.
It has been described as a hidden gem of the French Alps in the Telegraph - unfortunately not so hidden after the review - but that is us being selfish not wanting to share our little gem!
