About this property

Luxury meets Old West heritage: bespoke interiors and thoughtful service

The Peacock House blends history and comfort in a fully renovated 1906 Victorian Folk home. Enjoy the parlor’s warmth, restored woodwork, and modern touches like Wi-Fi, a cozy farm kitchen, and Nectar mattresses.

The Peacock House offers the comfort of a private home with the charm of a bygone era. Guests may reserve bedrooms depending on the size of their group, and always have full, private use of the house.

The downstairs Victorian bedroom features a twin daybed with trundle, while upstairs you’ll find the Magnolia (queen), Yucca (king), and Oriental (queen) rooms—each with its own character and quiet elegance. You can select the rooms in the reply to your welcome email.

Quality linens, premium mattresses, and thoughtful details throughout create a stay that feels both refined and relaxed.

Outside, a young orchard and garden out back reflect the home’s growing ties to agritourism and the slower rhythm of rural life.

Guests have private use of the entire Peacock House during their stay. You’ll have full access to all common areas—the living and dining rooms, parlor, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry—no matter how many bedrooms you book.

Select the number of guests, and we’ll prepare the home accordingly so every guest feels comfortable and cared for.

We respect your privacy, but we are always available if you need anything. You’ll have the house entirely to yourself, yet we’re close by and happy to help with questions, local tips, or anything that comes up during your stay.

This is a quiet neighborhood in the bedroom community of Cimarron. Low crime and friendly neighbors.

Guests will hear the train pass through Cimarron about twice a day—a nod to the town’s history and the rhythm of rural life. Along with the occasional dog, it’s part of the authentic small-town atmosphere that gives the Peacock House its sense of place.

This home's simple exterior hides a beautifully designed and recently decorated interior. Quite impressive. Inside the front door, the wonderfully crafted and preserved woodwork from yesteryear provides a warm welcome to arriving guests. For guest comfort, the hosts offer all the same amenities one would find an upscale hotel, ie, fluffy bathrobes, lotions, soaps. (Comfortable mattresses, too.) We found the hosts easy to work with from check-in through check-out and accessible when the need arose. The home was extraordinarily clean and easy to live in and relax. For history buffs following the Santa Fe Trail to Santa Fe or Taos, NM, this home is just west of Dodge City and would be a comfortable stop along the way. It might also be good for a quiet, relaxing getaway in a small, safe and friendly community. Be sure to try the home-made cinnamon rolls sold downtown on Main St next to the Coffee House.

Hi, I’m Lynn — I fell in love with this old house the first time I saw its bones and the stories still hiding in its walls. What began as a small project to save a friend’s grandmother’s home became a full renovation and a labor of love. We’ve restored every room with comfort and character in mind, blending Victorian charm with modern touches.

I live nearby in Cimarron and am happy to offer local insight, whether you’re chasing history in Dodge City or just looking for the best cinnamon rolls in town. My goal is simple: to make you feel at home while you explore the heart of the Old West.

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood is peaceful, much like the rest of Cimarron, where people still wave as they walk by and everyone seems to know each other. There’s a genuine sense of community here. Our neighbors are kind, welcoming folks, and we feel lucky to call them our own.

What makes this property unique

The Peacock House is more than a stay — it’s a story. Every inch of this 1906 Victorian Folk home has been lovingly renovated, preserving its old-world charm while adding modern comfort.

Inside, you’ll find thoughtful touches throughout: a gourmet kitchen, a library on the landing, curated art, and spaces designed for both rest and gathering. The home strikes a balance between quiet luxury and the warmth of a lived-in space — where sunlight catches on restored woodwork and every detail feels intentional.

It’s the kind of home that invites you to slow down, breathe, and feel rooted — right in the heart of Cimarron’s small-town hospitality.
