By way of explanation for the benefit of any potential guests reading this review, let me address your comments about basic provisions, because it misunderstands the position. In order to keep prices as low as possible (we are are among the cheapest on island) we do not provide any basic provisions, other than a basic "starter pack" of cleaning related materials, such as soap, dishwasher tablets, washing machine powder, toilet rolls and the like. There are basically two reasons for this, the first is that our guests may have had a long disrupted journey and the last thing they want to do immediately they arrive is to go in search of basics like soap and toilet paper. The second reason is that very occasionally we have guests who stay for the minimum period (four days) so obviously guests don't want to spend a part of that short period out shopping for basic materials. The arrangement with our housekeeper is that at the very least there should be toilet paper in each bathroom and soap. What tends to happen is that guests will often leave a residual amount when they leave, and it is up to my housekeeper to exercise her discretion as to what needs to be replaced in its entirety. Unfortunately, at the moment she is in the Dominican Republic being treated for cancer, so we have an interim cleaner who is doing her best, but may not, for example, replace a partly used toilet roll with a new one when the former might have been more appropriate. With regard to all other consumables, the guest is expected to pop down to the IgA store just a few minutes away and buy their own consumables in the nature of cooking oil, salt/pepper et cetera et cetera and toilet rolls if they run out. obviously Katie didn't realise this, so perhaps I am to blame for not making it clear in the advertisement, but to be fair this is the first time it has been raised in feedback. In every other respect we try as best we can to accommodate guests, including, early/late check-in and checkout where possible, and most importantly communicating expeditiously with the guests when an issue arises. We are of course pleased to hear that the home suited your requirements, both in terms of ambience and location. When we first bought the house, TCI was a quiet place with only one flight a day on American Airways to nd from Miami. Now of course if you want to travel to the island you are spoilt for choice, so to some extent TCI is a victim of its own success. Like most oldies, we prefer it as it was, and certainly a lot of properties have been built on the beach, which to be fair is absolutely beautiful. However, as you say the costs of staying on a beachside property has simply become astronomical. That said, it is still possible to go over to the beach from our place, and by walking to the right It is quite easy to find an isolated spot. You are of course welcome back any time. Thanks for your very positive review on the house, and your measured opinions about TCI in general. Your comments about Long Bay Beach are interesting, because for years it has been the poor relation of Grace Bay which has received numerous accolades from Condé Nast. Long Bay is much windier (hence its reputation as a good windsurfing area) and is much less developed than Grace Bay although it is on the increase Personally I've never noticed the noise from Leeward Highway, but sometimes I agree that the greenkeepers work on the course in the morning can occasionally be intrusive. It depends on the cycle and where they actually start which seems to be a different weekly cycle. Anyway, I'm glad you didn't find it too intrusive and you enjoyed your vacation.
