5 minute walk to beach

We loved the location and the decor. Pictures accurately show the rooms and furnishings. Had a few mechanical issues which were addressed by the property manager including promptly buying and installing a new TV. Very nice property which we hope to enjoy again.

relaxing vacation

Our family had a great time on the Beach and walking the streets. The weather couldn't have been better for relaxing on the porch and having the windows open. We enjoyed the layout of the open floorplan and the beds where comfortable.

They went above and beyond for us!

The night before we were supposed to leave on our trip, I went into the hospital for emergency surgery. The day after, I wrote Laura, our host. Without any trouble, she rescheduled our trip and airport transportation at no charge. She even waited until the doctor gave permission to travel. She found dates for us about a month later when they had a vacancy and we could come. Communication with Laura was great. She answered every question and helped with everything before the trip. She arranged round-trip airport transportation for us. She knew how we could spend one day in a resort (something my kids really wanted to do). She was so helpful. As for the place, it is exactly as it looks in the pictures - big and comfortable but very simple inside. Lots of open space to hang out and pretty much everything you need plates/coffee/basic seasonings. We were concerned about drinking water, but when we arrived, there was a giant garrafon/water jug with purified water and a pitcher of cold water in the fridge. Beds were comfortable. Three twin beds in one room and a big king size in the other. Bedrooms are on ground floor, each with their own bathroom. Huge walk-in shower in the master (be careful where you aim the shower head or you'll get a puddle on the floor). Up the stairs is a huge, open, kitchen/living/dining room. Getting around - we started out walking - you can walk to just about everything from there, but when my shoes started to bother my feet, we took taxis. They are always outside at Playacar Palace hotel (right at the front of the gate of the neighborhood). If you don't want to walk, the guards inside the neighborhoods act like walking concierges, ready to help you with anything. One even stopped what he was doing to help us lower bike seats. (BTW - our bikes were too high, even with seats lowered - ask for smaller ones if you have kids or are short.) If you want to know how far anything is from the house, just map from Playacar Palace hotel and then add five minutes for walking to the front of the neighborhood. Want a resort? Many just south of Playacar will do it for a day. We went to Iberostar, because my daughter wanted to see the monkeys. Just over $50 US for a day. Don't miss the cenotes between PDC and Tulum (bring water socks). Don't miss Lara y Luca for breakfast, or for cash-only and a little cheaper - Madrez on 8th Ave N and 5th on the beach side has AMAZING food. Best Mexican food was El Fogon - 2 locations, low prices.

FABULOUS HOUSE in gated community!

We had a wonderful and relaxing time in Playa Del Carmen. The weather was perfect and best of all no mosquitos : ). Casa Matuk is very beautiful and very bright due to all the windows. We thoroughly enjoyed the upper deck terrace for coffee and cocktails. Some outdoor furniture on the lower deck and a BBQ grill would be a nice addition. The house is located a short walk from the beach and 5th Avenue. It is also in a gated community and we felt very safe during our stay. There is really no need for a taxi from that location to shop and eat. Grocery stores are about a 10 minute drive and taxis are available outside the gate. Jessica, Laura and Bera were great! This was a last minute getaway for us and we feel so blessed that Casa Matuk was available!

My family's favorite vacation home!

We've stayed at dozens of hotels and apartments in Playacar and Playa del Carmen since 2012 including all inclusive resorts. Our recent stay at Casa Matuk made us realize a home away from home is by far the best place to rent for vacating. The house was amazing, clean, luxurious and comfortable. The kitchen was updated withtop of the line appliances. The bedrooms were beautiful and the beds were so comfortable. We slept so well. This house allowed our family to spend quality time together. We had a cook out next to our pool on our large private patio space. The location was only 4 houses away from the beach. I can't thank Laura and her staff enough for for being so kind. We'll definitely stay in this house again or one of the other houses available. Thanks again for making our vacation perfect!

Great House!

Very close to the beautiful beach of Playacar. This home was just what we were looking for. Great value for our stay in October 2017! Easy communication with owner and we really loved the place. Walked into town of Playa del carmen. Lots of great food and shopping.Hope to stay again in the future. Thanks Again!
