About Faye Hambrick or Debbie Rickman
My mother purchased this little cabin after extensive renovations were done in 2006. She lived and loved this home and enjoyed showing it off to anyone who wanted to come in and see until her passing in November 2012. Wanting to keep the home in the family we have decided to follow in her memory of sharing this home with others and make it available for others to enjoy. Her name was Shirley and the grandchildren called her grandma Squirrel. Hence the name Squirrels Nest.

What makes this Cabin unique
This home was originally located on the Blue Ridge Parkway and many years ago was moved to its current location by a mule drawn wagon. The home is now on the National Registry of Historic Places.

What an adorable place to stay.
We picked this property to be close to my husbands family in Roanoke for Christmas. The pricing was right, the space seemed right for 3 adults and 2 kids, and it didn’t seem to far away, and all this held true. We really enjoyed our stay and the cabin is so cute and cozy! We hope to stay here again for our next visit!
Girl enjoy the house, had a great time exploring the area. Would recommend this house to any looking for a great little house to stay in.
Charming. We were nearby for a family wedding, so we were not there too much. Do wish the add had mentioned stairs. It was a very cozy place for 4. Thank you!
I almost hate to give an honest rating, because it will make it harder to get the dates I want for future rentals. The house was perfect. The living area is on the small side for as many as it sleeps but with all the area attractions you won't spend much time there anyway. The house is adorable, quaint and historic without being dirty and musty. It is clean and well stocked. Kitchen has everything you need except the food lol. Linens are clean and in good condition and plenty of them. There is a little mom and pop store directly across the street that has most anything you may have forgotten. Hosts were sweet. We arrived late at night, they called to check on our progress and turned lights on so we could see upon arrival. I always rent houses over hotels when we travel and this is one of the best we've ever rented. It's perfect for a family or a romantic retreat. You won't regret choosing the squirrels nest.
