Margaret Cleary purchased this cottage in 2013
There is no place like Megunticook Lake and the surrounding area! We have been vacationing in Maine for years and decided that when retired, we would like to spend several months in the mid coast. Being on the water was a priority, in addition to having access to the coast, great food, people and culture.
The lake is 1200 acres of paradise. Super clean water and a great place to swim, kayak, canoe, paddle board, fish and relax on the dock. So much to explore and surrounded by beautiful mountains - great hiking, biking and wildlife! And incomparable sunsets!
My family returned recently from renting this great house. The location is perfect - on a quiet lake, next to Camden State Park, 3 miles from downtown Camden. The lake was very quiet and perfect for kayaking. We also rented a powerboat to explore the lake. There were plenty of hiking options from the Fernald's Preserve to Camden State Park. The kids (ages 7 and 8) really enjoyed swimming off the dock and learning how to kayak!
My children and I spent a week at the lake and had a wonderful time. The lake home is clean, fabulously decorated, and met all of our expectations. The view from the dock was spectacular. We kayaked and swam, hiked, and went sightseeing in the neighboring towns. The owner provided so many options for dining, entertainment, hiking, etc...that there was never a lack of something to do! We enjoyed exploring the area by day and relaxed by the bonfire area in the evenings. This was a marvelous vacation for our family!
We were very lucky to stumble upon this lovely lakeside cottage several years ago and have been coming back every year since! It is cozy, clean, bright, charming and beautifully decorated. While it appears to be a small house it comfortably accommodates quite a few people with four spacious bedrooms, three beautiful full bathrooms and an outdoor shower. There are beautiful, peaceful views of the quiet coves of the lake, the perfect spot for kayaking and paddle boarding. The kitchen is fully equipped and the owners and manager have always been extremely helpful and accommodating. The location is within an easy 10 minute drive to the center of Camden and the beach in Lincolnville. There are so many wonderful hikes in the area with beautiful vistas of lake, ocean and mountains. Truly a very special spot!
We just spent several weeks in this lovely home for the fifth summer in a row. Why do we keep coming back? The location, the house itself, the dock on such a wonderful lake, the lake itself, swimming in it, kayaking on it, the nearby walks and hikes, and the owners who are incredibly thoughtful and accommodating.
This house is located in the sweetest spot, minutes from lovely Camden and Lincolnville Beach and right in and amongst the best cove of Megunticook Lake. The lake water is deliciously warm! The house comes with its own dock with plenty of Adirondack chairs for relaxing and room for the two kayaks that also come with the house. Speaking of the house, be prepared to love it: it's clean, superbly equipped, well stocked and comfortable in every way. The distant calls of the loons will enchant you each night. We delight in walking the trails along the Camden Hills which are minutes away. You will find that the owners of this house will make every effort to ensure your satisfaction. I cannot recommend this rental more highly!!!
My husband and I just got back from our visit to Maine and I keep looking at the pictures of the lake and what a beautiful pristine backdrop it makes to this wonderful house. Very modern, well appointed, lacking in nothing and so full of charm. The kayaks were great and the lake water actually feels soft and so easy to jump in. We loved the charming town of Camden and all it had to offer. The owners were very helpful with great suggestions for hikes, restaurants and things to do in surrounding towns.
We will definitely be back!
