This property is absolutely stunning. A perfect place for myself, family and some of my best friends to travel to so that I could walk at UKY. 20 minutes from Lexington but felt like you were hours away. If you are looking for a beautiful, historic home that can handle a party like our 12, or more.. Please stay here!

Beautiful historic property. Host was very communicative and helpful. Only minor nitpick is that the kitchen equipment (pots and pans, cooking tools, etc) could use an upgrade for the price point.

Glenlary will forever be special to our family! We could not have asked for a better place to stay. The property was so much more than we even hoped for and Chuck the property manager is outstanding, goes above and beyond to meet your needs. Also, Elizabeth was so prompt with communication and answered any questions we had about the property. We hope to return with our family again in the future

This property was magical. It had the feel of an historically correct southern manor and grounds but with every updated feature you could wish for. The grounds were very well kept and the pool was tended to daily. The horse barn and paddocks were well kept and we enjoyed watching and interacting with the horses. This is a true jewel.

The estate was beautiful - each of our guests raved about the accommodations, the setting, the uniqueness of the property and the many things to do. We fished, played bucket golf, corn hole, swam and made great use of the large room near the pool for late night board games. Elizabeth and Chuck were amazing hosts. Chuck was attentive on a holiday weekend to ensure all of our needs were met. I highly recommend staying at this property. It offers true Kentucky charm and southern hospitality from the hosts!

Beautiful Property - easy access to lexington

Property is beautiful sitting on 80 acres. Elizabeth was a great communicator and helped us whenever we needed assistance. The house has 11 beds, so if you have a larget group, you will need to have a couple folks share. We were able to get to keeneland from here, but the ubers are pricier since its a further drive as a heads up. Id recommend for groups looking for a place to hang out in beautiful kentucky. Highly recommend

Fabulous place

We are a group of 17 adult cousins that traveled to Lexington from all over the US for a weekend reunion. After being stranded by a scammed reservation, Elizabeth responded quickly in the evening, accepted our group & let us arrive early the next day to drop off food that needed refrigeration. We are so very grateful to her & appreciate her hospitality. The main house & cabin accommodations were wonderful & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We can' t thank her & the manager enough!

We had a fabulous stay at Glen Lary ! ! !

We had three families - 6 "parents" and 6 adult children (ages 21-27). The estate was absolutely perfect for our group! The kids stayed in the incredible "cabin" and we stayed in the main house. You feel the graciousness of southern living along with the beautifully appointed accommodations. The listing description was accurate but its hard to describe Glen Lary until you experience it! The estate was beautifully maintained. We have already recommended it to friends and other family members. We did one Bourbon tasting at Woodford Reserve and enjoyed it. Our only regret was we didn't book Glen Lary for a longer stay!

Beautiful and Serene property

We were playing in a travel baseball tournament in Lexington and found this property. We had 9 families with a total of 15 adults and 19 kids (ages 4 to 14) and had the perfect amount of space. They had enough linens, inflatable mattresses, towels and paper products for our weekend stay. We cooked in both kitchens and used the grill and they all worked great. The kitchen is well stocked. We had a small issue with the AC but that was resolved immediately and with great customer service. Chuck maintains the property and was incredibly helpful and hospitable. It would be an honor to get to stay there again for another tournament or family reunion. Thank you for opening this historic property to us.

Fabulous 50th Wedding Anniversary

The Glenlary Estate was an excellent setting for our surprise, destination 50th wedding anniversary gathering for our parents and 20 family members. The historic main house was home to the romantic couple, where we prepared several dinners in the modern kitchen and conducted a ceremony to renew their vows by firelight. The large gathering area in the main house provided refuge for many card games and an intense ping pong tournament. The "cabin" has an absolutely incredible kitchen and a great deck for entertaining. We enjoyed long walks on the property with the picturesque company of the horses and the kids even went fishing in the stocked pond. While in the area we visited several great restaurants in Lexington, toured the Makers Mark and Woodford distilleries and even petted the 2013 Kentucky Derby winner at Claiborne Farms (10 minutes away). When we needed anything the staff onsite was attentive and very helpful. We would especially like to thank Elizabeth (owner) for her tips on local bakeries, restaurants and attractions. Her personal touch and thoughtful recommendations contributed to a truly memorable event that the entire family will never forget. We highly recommend a visit to the Glenlary Estate in Paris, KY if you have a large group that wants to get away and spend some quality time together.

GlenLary was perfect!

Me and my high school cross country team - from some forty years ago - get together once a year for a reunion and a run. This year we chose The Bourbon Chase, a two hundred mile relay from Louisville to Lexington. We needed a place to stay before and after the run and came across GlenLary on the VRBO website. GlenLary was perfect! We're a group of twenty, so we needed a big place. Driving down the long driveway and up to the estate feels like you're in a movie. That sensation continues as you step inside the beautifully appointed and meticulously maintained main house. The cabin behind the main house is no less impressive. You'll want to extend your stay so you can try out all the different and luxurious bedrooms in both! The kitchens are very well equipped and the living areas really make you feel at home. We really enjoyed the outdoor space. The pool and grill were put to good use. Across the driveway and in the pasture are some beautiful horses. Paul, the caretaker at the estate, is very knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to. Elizabeth, the owner, was very responsive and helpful in making this one of best places we've stayed. If we are ever back in Lexington, we will be sure to stay at GlenLary!

We held a family reunion for 3 days at GlenLary in August. Everyone from 9 to 90 years old had a wonderful time. We made a few short trips around the area but found the estate an excellent venue for us to relax, renew family ties and generally just have a good time. The road through the farm is great for walking or jogging, the pool worked well for kids and adults behaving as kids and the kitchens are well equipped for large family meals. We would love to return in the future and highly recommend GlenLary to others.

Great place to get away with the family

We stayed in the cabin and loved the layout. The view off the deck was gorgeous and was my favorite place to be. Lots of thought went into the layout as it was very functional and allowed for great family gatherings in the kitchen/great room area but also allowed my teenage daughters the ability to find space to themselves when they needed it. We were attending a Young Rider event that my oldest participated in and instead of roughing it at the barn and a hotel room, we had a luxurious and comfortable retreat to hang out in when horse and daughter weren't busy competing. Lounging by the pool, grilling some meals in the outdoor kitchen, and reading a book surrounded by natures beauty made this trip one to remember. The property has the feel of being in the country, but restaraunts and shopping are within a 20 minute drive allowing for a great variety in entertainment verses relaxation. Elizabeth, one of the members of the family that owns and runs the property, was very responsive and flexible to our needs even though she was on vacation with her own family at the time. Philip, who cares for the horses and watches over the property, was a pleasure to work with and talk to when anything came up that required his assistance. Whenever, I am in Lexington I will definitely try to stay at GlenLary again.

Top Score for the Rolex

The GlenLary was the perfect accommodations for our group of equestrian riders to stay while attending the Rolex. The setting eludes the feel of an old historic plantation surrounded by bluegrass pastures. However, the homes have been updated with all the modern conveniences and the décor is tastefully done throughout. The gathering areas in both houses are especially charming, warm and cozy. The property is well maintained and clean both inside and out. The hospitality of the owners and their staff is top notch. Our only problem was that everyone loved the estate so much that they didn't want to leave to attend our scheduled events at the Horse Park! We want to come back and stay longer next time.

The perfect setting for being together as a family

GlenLary was every bit as charming as the pictures led us to believe. It provided the perfect setting for being together as a family without distraction. Beth was great about orienting me to each house. Everyone fell in love with Philip after he came over to teach us about the thermostat and fix the chirping smoke detector. He later took our family picture so we could all be in it. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We could not have picked a more perfect location to gather and celebrate the joy and love of family. We could feel the love your family has shared there which enriched our own.

Beautiful Bluegrass Weekend

The pictures of the estate do not do it justice. This is a beautiful property taken care of by endlessly nice and welcoming people. All of our guests were comfortable and happy to spend the weekend here. Also it was very affordable for the size of our family and I would absolutely return here.

When given the chance to visit Kentucky, there is NO other spot to spend your time. The GlenLary estate IS Kentucky. From the historic antebellum home, to the 84 acres of rolling bluegrass and not to mention the Thoroughbred horses grazing in the pastures.
