This location was perfect for our purposes. I grew up in a different area of Wyoming, and I really enjoyed seeing the Big Horn mountains. I also loved the Amish Neighbor store.
Dirty. The house needs to be aired out. The bedding was stained in bedroom with 1/2 bath. Loads of flies, but thankfully there was a fly swatter. This was suppose to be a great trip for my 80 something parents to see the mountains one last time and it turned out to be an opportunity for them to clean. Dog food on floor upon arrival. The horse is beautiful, but super close to house. The horse water tank is at the back of house, hence the flies. Flies are also attracted to the decaying bovine skulls at the rear of house, guessing 40 feet away.An outline was sent 2 days prior to check in, after VRBO had to be involved, revealing extra not included in description of property. Dead rodent in horse water trough. Coffee machine would make coffee but not keep it hot… normally ok because it could be warmed in a microwave, but there is no microwave

We were disappointed to read this review because it does not reflect our experience with these guests or the condition of our property. Prior to arrival, the guests repeatedly requested discounted pricing. During their stay, they never contacted me directly, even though my personal phone number is provided before check-in and guests are encouraged to call or text immediately if any concern arises so it can be addressed.
Had these concerns been genuine, I would have sincerely appreciated the opportunity to resolve them immediately. Instead, no concerns were ever communicated to me during their stay. The first I learned of these allegations was through a refund request submitted to VRBO after the fact, leaving me with no opportunity to address any of the issues they later claimed to have experienced.
Claims such as dog food being left on the floor upon arrival are simply not accurate. The coffee maker functions properly and keeps coffee warm as intended. Several of the accompanying photos also present a misleading depiction of the property and do not accurately reflect the condition of the home during their stay.
Spirit Rider Lodge is an authentic Wyoming ranch experience. Our listing clearly explains that the home is located on a working ranch surrounded by neighboring ranches with horses and cattle. During our current two-year drought, seasonal flies and wildlife seeking water around stock tanks are a natural part of country living. These are realities of a rural ranch setting and are not unique to our property. We also disclose the presence of our gentle horse and the decorative cattle skulls created by a local artist so guests know exactly what to expect before booking.
We take great pride in providing a clean, welcoming, and professionally prepared home for every guest. We encourage future guests to read our many other reviews, which consistently reflect the care we put into providing an authentic Wyoming ranch experience.
We really enjoyed our time exploring the area and appreciated having a cabin that could accommodate our group of nine. The location was convenient for exploring, although it is fairly remote—about 6 miles from the nearest amenities—so we quickly learned that it was best to make sure we had all of our groceries/supplies before heading back to the cabin. For a group of nine staying for a week, the sleeping arrangements worked, although we did bring an air mattress for the kids. There were two bathrooms with two toilets, which was helpful, but there was only one shower/bathtub. With nine people getting ready each morning and coming back from full days of exploring, having just one shower was a bit challenging. The bathtub could also use some fresh caulking. The cabin itself could have felt a little more welcoming and fresh when we arrived. It seemed as though it may not have been occupied or thoroughly cleaned for a few weeks, so a little extra attention before guests arrive would have made a big difference and helped the cabin feel more inviting. We also noticed that there were quite a few personal items belonging to the owner throughout the cabin. While we understand that some personal items may be necessary, having fewer items visible would have made the space feel more like a dedicated guest rental.Overall, we appreciated having a place to stay while exploring the area, and the cabin provided a good home base for our trip.
Great experience! Beautiful location and wonderful place to stay! Just a few mins from town, the host was great to communicate with, and the house has everything you would need for your stay! I will definitely be staying here again.
