Upcountry Alpaca, Llama and Rabbit working farm

Experience Maui's first working fiber farm, home to Alpacas, Llamas, and Angora rabbits. Sitting at 3300 ft above sea level, Cottontail Farm enjoys perfect weather days and crisp, cool nights. The cooler temperatures are perfect for our wool producing animals that graze just outside your cottage in the back yard. Our alpacas and llamas are quiet observers but also provide plenty of entertainment of their own. Our group of Angora rabbits can be seen out the window hopping around their enclosures.

We loved our stay! Such a peaceful and beautiful setting to see upcountry Maui. You can see mountains and ocean from the front porch. The host was very sweet and we had everything we needed. Highly recommend. The view of the sunsets and a morning greating from the Alpacas was worth every penny.

What a lovely little cottage in what was one of our most liked locations (Upcountry Maui) on our almost month long trip to Hawaii! The cottage was very comfortable and cozy. We felt right at home. My wife loved spending some time with the Alpacas even though it was tough to entice them over, even with bannana peels, but it was great just to see them wandering around. The location was very good for us to get to the areas we wanted (e.g. Haleakalā) to visit. Christine was very responsive and happy to help. The only regret was that since were out touring different spots we were not able to enjoy as much time at the cottage.

My husband and I live on the property in a separate home and will be available if you would like to come over and meet the animals and experience the working farm. We move the animals around to different pastures so if you would like to join us in walking the alpacas and llamas down the road, you are welcome to! The animals get sheared periodically and their wool is hand spun, washed, and knitted with, all on property. Products are sold at the local Upcountry Farmers Market or some are available at a farm stand that is inside the cottage.
