Lovely house with ocean view

We loved the upstairs porch with the ocean view, easy access to the beach and the open plan upstairs, which is spacious and comfortable for our group of 7. We have stayed in this house before, and would come back again.

Review

Good property and location. Great views. Well-stocked and comfortable house. The cleaning, however, was terrible and we spent the first several hours there cleaning the whole place (and there's a bug / spider problem in the bedrooms).

Great House in Hatteras

I wish we'd booked it for longer, but Windansea was the perfect place for our group of friends to enjoy our short OBX getaway. Beach access it just feet away and the ocean views are simply STUNNING. Watching dolphins and fishing boats was a great way to start the day. The home was beautifully appointed and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. If you must work while enjoying the OBX, the WiFi here was strong and steady, easily accommodating all members of our group simultaneously. The ferry is just blocks away and having the Red & White Market was so convenient. Whether your stay is short or long, you won't go wrong with Windansea! Thanks for sharing your beautiful property with us! We will definitely be back!

Location was great. The master upstairs shower did not have hot water. That left the tub shower which was great and the outdoor shower. With running hot water. There were a few big water bugs running around the hallways when we were departing. Probably need to Alert pest control

WOW! Fantastic Home in Hatteras for our Family and 2 Dogs!

We had an amazing stay at Windansea and the location is truly unbeatable. We were less than a minute walk to the sand, I really loved that there was beach access next to the home. We woke up every day to amazing sunrises and ocean views (even from our bedroom!). I couldn't stop staring out at the ocean with my cup of coffee each morning on the cozy couch. Each floor has fantastic ocean views. I loved the sliding glass doors throughout the house to let the ocean breeze in and to listen to the ocean. The inside is gorgeous and I thought even better than the photos online, cozy beachy rooms, comfy beds and a modern kitchen stocked with everything we needed to cook for our large family, (my favorite was the cute Keurig and matching mini fridge for extra drinks). The upstairs living room has comfy furniture and plenty of space for family games at night. My family and I enjoyed Windansea, we will definitely be returning. Thank you so much! This is now a very special place for our family.

cheap renovations, everything sticky

The location was great, and the view was wonderful. Otherwise this home lacked a great deal. The floors were cheap linoleum which I guess is everywhere now sadly, but it was especially sticky and would not clean up -for some reason. The kitchen table was also forever sticky, nothing could be done about it- perhaps the cleaner they used was taking up some of the material/varnish on the table and floors? All the kitchen chairs were broken, not a single one was sturdy when sat down-very cheap plastic chairs. The door to the garbage was broken and wasn't repaired during our stay even though we had 2 visits from the repair/vacasa team. drawers inside refrigerator were broken. Ice receptacle was broken. There was basically nothing to cook with and many of the things that were there to use were broken- like the cheese grater. Coffeemaker was the cheapest possible version of junk- There was a piece of dog excrement under the bunk bed in kids room. Under all the other beds it was extremely dirty sandy and sticky. I would say this place needs some love and a better management team.

Gorgeous home!

Windansea was beyond gorgeous. The views were stunning, hearing the waves from the kitchen when you open all the doors was so relaxing. The sofa and all of the beds were extremely comfortable. I'd love to know the brands so I can copy! Love the locked gate to keep the dogs safe on the top deck. Walking distance to the ferrys and shops, very quiet family neighborhood. Walk over the dunes would be impossible for anyone with any walking difficulties, especially the climb back. Very steep. Didn't stop us, but keep that in mind. The upgraded and decorations in this home are strait from Coastal Living. It's a tastefully decorated, cheery beach home that is obviously loved. The reason for 4 stars is the hot tub was completely broken. Had to call for 3 days to get it looked at to find out it needs to be replaced. I did get compensated for the loss. I do think it was already known because it was unhooked and dirty. 2 totes of dirty laundry were left on the entryway for 3 days and there was a broken chair that had to be hauled off for safety. I would rent this home again for sure, the negatives didn't outweigh our wonderful stay, even though the hot tub would have been amazing during the colder days/nights. Vacasa was easy to deal with and did return calls when they said they would which was nice and followed up when necessary

Decent Plan but Had a Break-In

Our recent stay in Hatteras had several highlights and a few drawbacks. The location was perfect for a peaceful getaway, allowing us to escape from it all. We loved the open upstairs floor plan and the large deck, which was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. The hot tub was a fantastic addition to our stay, and the large single bowl kitchen sink was very convenient. Additionally, the house had numerous sticker labels pointing out the locations of various items, which we found to be a very helpful idea. However, there were several issues that detracted from our experience. Unfortunately, the owner's garage storage was broken into during our stay, and we had to notify Vacasa. The ceiling fan remote switch didn't work, and the house shook significantly whenever someone moved. Palmetto bugs and spiders were quite rampant, even for outdoor enthusiasts like us. The master bath shower curtain had terrible black mold on the bottom, and the hot tub had no bromine pucks in the floater, making us unsure if it was safe for our family. Vacasa wanted to charge us $75 for a service check. The kitchen table chairs were in poor condition, having been fixed multiple times with various hardware. In our opinion, they are unsafe and need to be replaced. The fit and finish of everything in the house was subpar, reflecting a general decline in quality. Additionally, one half of the toaster was broken, and the kitchen faucet pull-down was missing the button and was broken.

Not well maintained or cleaned

7/14/24 Upon arrival, we discovered 3 flights of outside stairs-mostly unlit & very dangerous at night. 7/15- AM Discovered an infestation of winged ants & their droppings. Exterminator sprayed later in the day. PM- a ceiling leak in the kitchen/dining area was discovered. 7/16-Maintenance checked leak but indicated an HVAC Co. would need to be called. The water was filthy & dripped on the table & in the kitchen. We collected the water with our cooler & a big pot through 7/17 when the HVAC co finally fixed the problem. We notified management there was no hot water in the primary bedroom shower. It was checked but never fixed. 5 adults & 3 children shared 1 shower for the week. The rugs were filthy & the vacuum was full upon arrival. When stripping the beds at departure, we discovered a disgusting, soiled mattress pad under the sheets. I frequently smelled urine when entering the bedroom, not sure of the source. Not accustomed to such filth! Deck furniture had been broken & poorly repaired with dangerous nails sticking out the underside. A community pool was listed, but the pool was a 30 min. drive from the property. The outside storage area, was left open or broken into & never fixed even after notifying management. We have a lot of pictures if anyone would care to view them. To sum it all up: Our restful family vacation was spent dealing with all of these issues! At least 3 of our vacation days were spent waiting on repairmen!
