Rijke Rust on Sandbaai beach, Langebaan

Rijke Rust is located in the Sandbaai (Sand Bay) neighborhood in the "old" part of town.
In Langebaan, Sandbaai is a distinct, quaint coastal pocket known for its "old-world" charm and proximity to the lagoon.  It is the historic heart of the town, characterized by narrow streets and original West Coast architecture. Unlike the wide, bustling Main Beach, Sandbaai is a narrow, more secluded strip of sand. It runs from the Langebaan Yacht Club toward the South African National Parks (SANParks) offices.  Because of the Yacht Club, this area is the primary spot for launching yachts and Hobie cats. You will often see colorful boats moored just offshore.  It is often a magical spot to watch professional kitesurfers and foilers perfecting their skills. It is significantly quieter than the central tourist hub. It feels like a traditional fishing village, with many "front-row" houses sitting right on the high-water mark. This bay is ideal for families with kids learning how to stand-up paddle or canoe. Denlyn Park is a minutes walk from Rijke Rust and is a lovely well kept childrens park. An old style farmers market is held in the park every last Saturday of the month. Rijke Rust is a breathtaking 4.5 km walk/ run to the gates of the West Coast National park. The lively Sharkbay shack offers freshly brewed coffee on the way! Take the same route back to the house or tackle the famous mamba route ( a very steep hill) via park drive back to the house. Langebaan offers a world class golf course less than 20 minutes from Rijke Rust. There is far more to explore and too little space to type it all!
