About Joe Kosiorek

This property has been in our family for 23 years. We take great pride and enjoy sharing this family owned and operated experience because we built the building and the furniture ourselves. It is a one of a kind experience and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Joe Kosiorek purchased this cottage in 1994

What makes this cottage unique

Quiet Lake (Gas Powered watercraft prohibited) less than a hundred acres total with fewer than fifty residences. Beautiful sunsets over tall pines on the opposite side of the lake in the evening from the patio off the front of the house and dock on the water facing west. This allows for diffuse light and cool breezes in the morning and afternoon through the canopy of tall oaks and maples.

Cozy Cottage Getaway Aug 4-10

  • 4 of 5

Although the cottages are close together on this lake, it still felt private. The interior of the cottage is just as beautiful as the outside. It is small, but it was adequate for the three of us, as we had enough room to put a pack n play at the foot of the bed in the bedroom. The cottage doesn't get a lot of daytime sunlight, but it gets a nice breeze which kept the cottage from overheating, but we wish we had gotten more sun on the dock.

The cottage is close to stores and gas stations which was convenient. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. We spent a lot of time on the dock and in the rowboat. We fished off the dock and caught some bass! The beach and swimming area were small, but was a close walk. We enjoyed relaxing by the fire at the end of our days. The wifi worked great once we realized there were no spaces in the password.

Joe was great with communication and he answered all of my questions prior to our stay. We received our full damage deposit back very quickly.

Overall, it was a relaxing stay. We felt at home here and would love to stay again.

Great Cabin

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay at this Cabin. It was very clean and comfortable for our family. My son used the rowboat and caught lots of pike and bass on the lake. The dock was beautiful and there was a nice fire-pit (although Batavia was in a drought at the time so we didn't really have many fires to be safe). It is nestled in the woods and is very peaceful and relaxing. Loved the loft area and the living area downstairs is very charming. Also nice Wi-Fi and TV provided. We will definitely stay there again and I would recommend this Cabin to anyone who wants a real taste of Western New York. Close to Buffalo and Rochester. Thanks Mr. Kosiorek!

Very comfortable living and sleeping space

  • 5 of 5

Our second year in a row for this cottage. Comfortable furniture, beds. The setting is very peaceful. We love trains and can hear nearby trains. Joe was very responsive to all requests. Lots to do in the area. Loved the stock car racing on Sat night, went horseback riding. Close to Lake Ontario and day tripping in Rochester to the zoo. Hope to come back next year. Only request would be a pot big enough to cook corn on the cob in :)

Disappointing and misleading.

  • 1 of 5

Don't stay here if you like privacy. Pictures don't show how close neighbors are...oh and nosey too. Cockroach in the kitchen was disgusting. Lake is overgrown with weeds. Don't expect to get your security deposit back. Owner will nitpick and charge you unfairly just to steal your money.

Owner's Response: This renter enjoyed their stay and emailed us that they were going to leave positive feedback until we notified them that the cost to repair damages that they caused to our property exceeded their security deposit. In the 21 years that we have been renting our property the largest amount of security deposit we have withheld once was $100. Some of the damages include: Use of power tools like a chainsaw to cut firewood in the process disturbing erosion control riverbank stone behind the building and a drill to create holes to fasten hooks in the structural pilings under the building to hang a hammock uprooting and damaging the ivy and mulch. Our Amish built picnic table was written on with permanent marker. It is assumed that heavy objects like a log were thrown over the side of the upper deck damaging deck boards directly below the upper deck's edge. If you choose to rent to these people, be clear with the costs associated with repair of any and all damages prior to renting.

well-kept, clean, beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a wonderful vacation at Horseshoe Lake. We stayed Joe Kosiorek's cottage and just loved it. The cottage is nestled in beautiful mature trees, with a dock right on the water. It is a perfect place for family vacations. We would definitely recommend it for anyone looking to get away from it all!!

Great Log Cabin on the Lake

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the log home on Horseshoe Lake. Very peaceful setting right on the lake with own dock and rowboat. The kids loved it. Nice firepit for making Smores which my youngest daughter loves making. Sitting on the deck overlooking the lake was very relaxing. Kids loved catching bluegill and bass, they were wanting to catch a pike, seen 2 or 3 pike from the dock but did not catch them. Overall a very relaxing and fun week on the lake.
