The Study Suite is the former study for the longest tenured and final Mine Superintendent for Quincy Mine, Charles Lawton. He resided here at Quincy House with his wife Grace with a sprawling 10,000 square feet of house to live in. One of the oldest structures in the area, Circa 1882, Quincy House lies atop Quincy Hill on Highway 41 in Hancock, overlooking Portage Canal and the city of Houghton.

**The suite spaciously sleeps 2. We welcome up to 3 guests in the suite. 3rd person is an additional fee.

The bedroom includes a period themed King Sized Bed with new gel/memory foam mattress, luxury all-cotton bedding with both soft and firm pillows, sofa sleeper, TV, ceiling fan, plenty of antique lighting from original lamps, sconces & chandeliers, reclaimed antique fireplace mantel with electric insert & custom tile surround, and custom made lighted shadow box above mantel featuring antique stained glass panel from 1880. Enjoy period antiques including alligator embossed leather lounge chair & hand knotted persian rug.

The private en suite bathroom features custom tiled shower and marble flooring, reclaimed antique cast iron enameled pedestal sink with modern fixtures, extra tall toilet, custom wood paneling, luxury all-cotton towels, complete toiletries provided & heated towel bar.

Decor of the suite is Arts & Crafts Design Era themed including local craftsman created stained red oak paneling & coffered box ceiling, William Morris designer wallpaper in bedroom & bathroom, refinished original hardwood flooring, doors & trim, restored original 144+ year old window sashes & screens with wavy glass, original louvered shutters for privacy, light darkening drapes, hot water original radiator heat (in cold months), antique period light sconces & chandeliers plus more antiques to furnish the room.

The Study Suite features carefully restored original and themed antiquity uniquely paired with modern amenities including free high speed WiFi Internet and FREE PREMIUM TV streaming channels including Disney+, Netflix, Showtime, Prime Video, Hulu & access to much more.

Quincy House has, is and will be undergoing restoration and preservation for years to come. In no way will this negatively effect your stay. In fact you will be able to witness how we are transforming and restoring this prominent 144+ year old Victorian Mansion back into the elite monarch of Quincy Hill it once was.

Enjoy the views atop Quincy Hill from this 144+ year old landmark: one of the oldest buildings in the area. Built originally as elite executive mining housing, The Quincy House property still retains it's original carriage house/barn: the only one like it in the Keweenaw with original horse stalls.

Our private driveway is large with plenty of free parking and turn around space for trucks with trailers (**space may be limited in winter with our usual huge snow banks).

**For those sensitive to pets: we have a couple resident cats who patrol this old house inside & out so please be aware if you are prone to allergy. They are kept out of the guest suites at all times and are very cleanly maintained.

Quincy House, completed in 1882 is an Italianate Victorian mansion built by Quincy Mining Company to prominently house its highest ranking area official, the Mine Agent and later known as the Superintendent. It is the last standing mining company agent's house among the many mines that once exploited the area for copper. Built more lavishly than other mine company structures, it served as an elite social center during the copper mine boom. Quincy House is currently undergoing restoration and preservation. You will be staying in a private, newly restored room of the house. We reside in the separate but connected front section that is under restoration. You will not be disturbed by ongoing restorations during your stay. Your privacy and comfort is our utmost concern. We are happy to talk more about the history and meaning this house to the bygone copper boom which helped electrify the nation. Ongoing restorations progress every day and you will witness them in real time.

In addition, your stay will benefit the house as all proceeds we receive from your visit are put directly into the Quincy House Preservation Foundation, a 501c3 charitable nonprofit organization formed and operated by us to restore and sustain the house now and for the future as a valuable historic educational interpretation of Copper Country history.
