Tucked away in 3 acres of private woodland near Sugarloaf Mountain, Craigside Lodge is a secluded retreat for those looking to unwind and get close to nature. Hike scenic trails just 5 minutes from your door, then come back to a warm timber interior, quiet evenings, and stargazing from the porch. The space
Warm timber interiors, forest-framing windows, a dreamy mezzanine level, and a basement playroom make this a stunning, quiet and comfortable stay.
Sugarloaf Vineyard is just minutes down the road, perfect for an afternoon tasting, and the beloved Comus Inn Restaurant is on the doorstep, making this an ideal retreat for wedding guests celebrating nearby.
Miles of hiking trails are walking distance from the property through scenic woodland, so lace up your boots and explore at your own pace.
When you’re ready to venture further, you’ll find championship golf courses, a local distillery, and additional wedding venues all within easy reach. The charming towns of Frederick, MD and Harpers Ferry, WV are just a short drive away, with rich history, boutique shopping, and riverside dining. Washington DC and Baltimore are both under an hour away.
*Please note- we currently do not have Wi-Fi at the Lodge- we are expecting it to be available from mid-summer 2026. In the meantime, there is reasonable cell signal from all major providers.
In addition, our property includes two unfenced ponds on the woodland grounds. While they are beautiful features, we ask that children always be supervised by an adult when outdoors. Please keep this in mind when booking with young ones.
Living Room:
The heart of the lodge- sink into the sofa and let the forest come to you through the picture windows. Double-height ceilings and sweeping views make this a space you won’t want to leave.
Mezzanine floor/library
Your own quiet perch above it all. Curl up with a book or lie back and listen to the sounds of Sugarloaf after a day on the trails.
Basement/Games Room
When the competitive spirit kicks in, head downstairs. A large screen TV, games console, foosball table, and a collection of board games make this the go-to spot for evenings in.
Ground Floor Master Bedroom Suite:
Wake up to woodland views from your king-size bed, step out to the screened porch with your morning coffee, and let the day begin on your own terms.
Canopy Bedrooms 1 & 2:
Named for the timber rafters overhead and the treetop views through every window, the Canopy Bedrooms feel like sleeping in the forest itself. Room 1 has a Queen bed, Room 2 has a Queen bed and 2 x Twin (Trundle) Beds, ideal for kids.
Kitchen:
Everything you need for a relaxed stay- well-stocked cabinets, gas stove, and enough counter space to make a proper meal together.
