This is by far the best place we’ve ever rented. The cabin is brand new, beautifully designed, and comfortable. The private fishing area is peaceful and magical. The best part about this rental are the hosts. Pat and Carole went above and beyond to ensure that we had the perfect stay. They were so accommodating and helpful. They taught us how to fish the river, helped us with our catch and shared tons of recommendations for things to do in the area. They even arranged a kayaking trip for us! We loved it so much we extended our trip and came back to the cabin after seeing some other areas. The location is perfect - right on the river, close to town but in a quiet private and friendly neighborhood. The cabin is well appointed with anything you could possibly need or want. We cooked in most nights and it was so nice to have all the staples readily available. Beds are super comfortable and there are lots of areas to hang out. Wifi worked great. We can’t wait to come back!!

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful review! It was such a pleasure getting to know you and sharing a small part of what makes the Kenai River so special. Seeing you learn to fish, celebrate your catches, and enjoy everything from kayaking to peaceful evenings at the cabin reminded us why we love hosting. We were honored that you chose to extend your stay and return to our little corner of Alaska—that is one of the greatest compliments we could ever receive. We’re so happy the cabin felt comfortable and well-equipped, and that you were able to relax, explore, and make wonderful memories. Our hope is always that guests arrive as visitors and leave feeling like friends. Thank you again for trusting us with your vacation. We can’t wait to welcome you back to Kahtnu River Services. Safe travels until we meet again!

Welcome! We’re Pat and Carol Nolden, longtime Kenai Peninsula residents who love sharing the beauty of Alaska with our guests. Pat taught at Soldotna High School for 30 years and coached hockey, football, and track. Carol retired after 34 years as a school secretary and has been fishing the Kenai River since childhood. We met in 1988, married in 1990, and raised two children here. With decades of local knowledge and a passion for Alaska’s outdoors, we’re happy to help make your stay comfortable, memorable, and truly authentic.

Why they chose this property

After living in the Soldotna area for more than 40 years, we sold our family home and were fortunate to purchase this river-access property. Owning a home on the Kenai River has always been an Alaskan dream for us. We chose this neighborhood because it offers the perfect balance of convenience and natural beauty—just a few miles from town, yet surrounded by the peaceful sights and sounds of Alaska. Whether it’s fishing, wildlife viewing, or simply enjoying the river, this location provides the authentic Alaskan experience we have loved for decades.

What makes this property unique

What makes this property truly unique is its easy access to world-famous Kenai River fishing. Guests can fish directly from the four private platforms, and boots or waders are not required. The property borders 75 acres of protected Alaska DNR land, providing exceptional privacy, abundant wildlife viewing opportunities, and a peaceful natural setting. Despite its secluded feel, the cabin is located just a few miles from town, offering convenient access to shopping, dining, and local attractions. Comfortable, private, and welcoming, this cabin is the perfect place to experience the best of Alaska.
