Cedar Sunset - Big Views, Two Fireplaces, 4BR on Beech Mountain
The Setting - Cedar Sunset sits on Beech Mountain, the highest town in the eastern United States, and the house makes the most of it. Three levels of living space, every one of them facing out at the Blue Ridge - ridgeline behind ridgeline, going blue and then purple through the afternoon. In October the whole thing turns gold and red. In January it goes white and very, very quiet. You're a couple of miles from Beech Mountain Resort, 12 from Sugar Mountain, and about 20 from Grandfather Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The Home - Four bedrooms, four full baths, 2,948 square feet over three floors, and it sleeps 10. Vaulted ceilings and tall windows throughout - the house was designed around the view, and it shows from every room. The main level holds the living room with its gas fireplace, an open kitchen with a breakfast bar, a dining room, and a queen bedroom with its own full bath. Upstairs are the primary queen with an ensuite bath - jetted tub and a separate shower - a second queen bedroom with its own bath, an office with a desk and a double futon, and the laundry. Downstairs is the den with the second gas fireplace, a fourth full bath, the game room, and the bunk room.
The Game Room - A 72-inch air hockey table, a Pac-Man arcade cabinet, board games, a TV over the fireplace and enough seating that the adults can stay in the room without being in the way. This is where the kids go and stay.
The Bunk Room - Brand-new twin bunks with a roll-out trundle underneath, sleeping three. The bunk has stairs rather than a ladder, with drawers built into them, so getting up top is easy and there's somewhere to put clothes. The fourth full bath is a few steps away.
The Kitchen - Open to the dining room and sized for cooking together rather than one person stuck alone at the stove. Breakfast bar with four stools, a bistro table for two, and a dining table that seats five, or seven if you pull the bistro chairs over. Full-size appliances, a Keurig K-Duo that does both single cups and a carafe, an Instant Pot, a blender, a toaster, and wine glasses.
The Outdoors - A deck runs the whole back of the main level, reached through two sliding doors, with a Weber gas grill on it. The primary bedroom upstairs opens onto its own private deck along the same side. Coffee out there in the morning, a glass of something as the light goes.
Getting Here - The house sits on a corner lot with an asphalt driveway, plus a second lower-level driveway that earns its keep in winter. Five cars fit. Beech Mountain roads are steep and they get real snow - AWD or 4WD is HIGHLY recommended from November through March. Parking capacity: Up to 5 cars total.
Upper driveway: Fits 2 cars. Lower driveway: Long enough to fit 3 cars.
Good to Know - Self check-in with a smart lock, so you can arrive on your own schedule. Three stories with stairs between levels and no elevator - the main-floor bedroom and full bath mean nobody has to climb to sleep, but it's worth knowing before you book. There's no air conditioning, and at this elevation you won't want it: Beech Mountain summers run cool enough that you'll be reaching for a blanket, not a fan. There are three exterior security cameras - at the front door, at the lower driveway, and on the back deck looking out at the view. There are none inside. This is bear country, so trash stays bagged and in the bins. No pets. NON SMOKING PROPERTY. No parties or events.
I provide all the linens, towels and starter toiletries, and I'm local if anything comes up. If you have any questions at all, just reach out. I'm here to help!
