About Kate Johnson
I purchased the house after looking for many years for just the right property. My little boy and walked in and just knew that it was our dream house! He was very into Harry Potter, and with 13 staircases and lots of cool little areas, this was magical! That is precisely the feeling here, the house has such a warm happy energy, we are continually thankful for it. I grew up in upstate New York but work in Manhattan. I have found Woodstock to be the ideal getaway. 4 seasons of great restaurants, shopping, abundant activities, beautiful nature, art and music all within a couple of hours!
Why Kate Johnson chose Woodstock
This property is one of my favorites in the town of Woodstock. I love that you can walk back and forth to the village of Woodstock at anytime of day yet still feel very private. The interior design has been thoroughly thought through with comfort and elegance. Lots of room to escape from your housemates and plenty of places to be altogether. Refreshed and relaxed is what you feel when you stay at this property.
What makes this House unique
Being on the Millstream is one of the most exciting aspects of this property. You get to enjoy it all year round from all spaces of the home. You can jump in, cool off during the summer, sit, listen to it during the fall or watch it transform in the winter into a winter wonderland.

Fascinating home, so close to town and yet seeming remote
The house has a fantastical element to it, with some Escher-like stairs onto platforms, but is also very practical, with its variety of bedrooms and sleeping arrangements. Two bedrooms are tucked away on the ground floor, with private bathrooms: one is a large elaborate master suite, the other a smaller master bedroom with its own porch.
The second floor contains two bedrooms with a jack-and-jill bathroom shared between them. There is also a mini-apartment (projector screen, kitchenette, bathroom, and a sleeping room/loft area with 3 beds. Another smallish bedroom is on the third floor, reachable by narrow stairs.
The center of the house is a grand room three stories tall, with two separate living rooms (one with a fireplace) divided by a ping pong table. This ping pong table proved one of the most popular features with the 20-somethings. We older folks enjoyed either the couches inside or on the large wrap-around porch with an L-shaped dining table that seated over a dozen.
The property contained a nice-sized pool (heatable with extra fee per heating day) with plenty of seating. Elsewhere, trampoline, hot tub, benches, hammock, fire-pit and small zip line appealed to various interests, and the stream bordering the property provided a constant soundtrack for porch-sitters. The kitchen was well-appointed, and had a good size dining table and a large center island.
As for personnel, owner Kate was invariably upbeat and easy to communicate with. She was quick to respond to any queries. The onsite caretaker (in a small separate house on the property) was also first-rate: responsive, low key, friendly, and helpful.
All the feedback I've gotten from my crew (family reunion of sorts, with various friends) was very appreciative of the property. Between adventuring forth on hikes, visiting town of Woodstock in close walking distance, and hanging around to enjoy the house and property, there was always something to do, and the house's arrangement managed to absorb a lot of varied activities. From one of the downstairs bedrooms, I heard nothing of those staying up late to talk, watch movies, play ping pong, or listen to music.
All in all, the week we spent there was a great success, and the house definitely played a role in that.
Dreamy gorgeous house in prime Woodstock location
We had an amazing time at Kate's Woodstock home. The house is absolutely gorgeous. It is very clean, modern, stylish and has everything you could possibly need. The bedrooms are large and comfortable with luxurious sheets that make you not want to get out of bed! There is so much to do at Kate's house: from swimming in the pool, getting into the jacuzzi or the river, reading in the gorgeous verandah, etc. The town of Woodstock itself is very cute, there are several nice shops and restaurants and all within walking distance of Kate's home. There are also several hikes, lakes and things to do beyond Woodstock. We will definitely come back.
Fun, relaxing property
We stayed for a long weekend - 9 Adults & 4 kids - and this place was perfect. Our intention was to travel into town as little as possible and this house really helped us obtain our goal.
Kate was incredibly helpful prior to us arriving and worked with us when we requested to arrive a couple of hours early. Dave was also easy to work with and helped us out with a few things upon arrival and a couple times during our stay.
We stayed for four days, had both great and terrible weather, but it didn't matter. When it was nice out, we were in the pool, down by the stream, or on the zipline...in turn when it rained heavily, we chilled on the porch and played games, played ping pong, or just enjoyed the great vibe of the house.
Also, important to note is that the kitchen is great for preparing a larger meal for a group dinner.
Dear Lee, family and friends,
We are so glad you guys had a great time, we were so wishing on the weather for you!
Please do come again? We would love to have you!

My family loved this property!
This was a lovely property to stay on! Gorgeous architecture and just an overall great place to hang out for a weekend!
The house is pretty well stocked with linens and kitchen items. Plenty of seats to sit for family dinners.
The pool area is so peaceful and relaxing! They even have speakers set up with music via bluetooth.
It was really cool having the river in our backyard. It was fun to take walks on the rocks with the family!
We would totally come back!
We stayed at this gorgeous home for a long weekend. The pictures are nice but the home is breathtaking. The caretaker Dave was wonderful and the owner Kate was awesome. We will definitely come back!

There is something very special about this property, Kate the owner asked us to please make the walls even bigger and we certainly did our best! Feels magical from the moment you arrive!
Thank you so much for the wonderful review and for coming to stay! My little boy and I love the house so much and so glad you enjoyed it too!
Levon Helms Midnight Rambles is one of the most exciting venues in Woodstock! Bike or walk along side of the Ashokan Reservoir, it's a must see being that it supplies NYC with their water! Hiking, biking or boutique shopping are also favorite attractions here in Woodstock.
