About Dan & Sherry Robb

We moved here from NW Iowa in 2002. We are empty nesters with a home we love to entertain in. We like to Hike, ride 4 wheelers, ride our HD motorcycle, and just take in the hills attractions. We love to Geo Cache because you never know where that will take you but one thing about it there is usually a breath taking view involved.

Dan & Sherry Robb purchased this house in 2008

Why Dan & Sherry Robb chose Rapid City

We love this 2 acre property and want to share our home and let you experience what the Black Hills has to offer. We have forest service access right around the corner with a spectacular view and quiet setting with lots of wildlife to observe. On 4th of July there are plenty of fireworks to watch right here.

What makes this house unique

When the heat of the summer peaks you can plan on at least 10 degrees cooler up here compared to town and in the winter we have inversions that often we are 10 degrees warmer than town. Enough trees cover to lessen the winds that you will experience in other areas.

At Home in the Hill is heaven!

  • 5 of 5

Dan & Sherry are warm, friendly hosts that provide as little or as much interaction as you wish. Their home is absolutely beautiful and the setting is so peaceful and serene. They are ideally located close enough to Rapid City to be convienient, but out of town just enough to provide a quiet, beautiful, natural surrounding: the stars at night, the wind whispering through the pines, the animals and birds, and the air...the fresh, wonderful air!

Their pup, Hailey, is sweetheart as well. I absolutely love that the home is pet friendly.

The home has almost everything you could ask for: fluffy towels, soft sheets, comfy beds, kitchen amenities, some common condiments, and a fun pool table.

I wouldn't hesitate one second in booking another stay with Dan & Sherry! I arrived as their guest, but I departed as their friend. I highly recommend At Home in the Hills!

A lovely hide-away

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our short time here. We were warmly welcomed by Dan & Sherry (and the very friendly Hailey) when we arrived and found the accommodation to be warm, inviting, and absolutely immaculate. There was even a lovely fire already set for us in the fireplace. This was our first visit to the Black Hills area and our days were largely spent out and about seeing the many sights. Unfortunately this meant we had little opportunity to visit with Dan & Sherry during our time there, but we certainly look forward to a return visit one day.

A great place to re-group & re-coup!

  • 5 of 5

The location is very nice and is in striking distance of South Dakota's feature tourist spots. With so much to see, you may not worry about where you are staying, but the cozy & tranquil setting will serve to help rejuvenate you for the next days excursions. If the weather would trap you into staying indoors, you would not be without a connection to fun or the ability to cook a fine meal. The Robb's are very hospitable and know their way around the attractions in the area...and beyond. (Well traveled, are they.) They even provided a wonderful breakfast casserole to aid us in making our morning escapes more efficiently to the great outdoors. We probably could have enjoyed a week with the Robb's just chit-chatting, as they are great company. (...and their dog Hailey was kind enough not to eat our yappy little dogs who finally recognized the calm demeanor and started to pick up on the mellow vibe! Kids!) There is so much to say but bottom line is that when we get an opportunity to come back and explore the area further, we will definitely book with the Robbs again! God bless them in all their endeavors! Bill & Barb Henderson

Great location with a beautiful view and quiet sunsets. Deer, rabbit and turkey in the yard daily

  • 5 of 5

This is a fabulous place. It was quiet and spacious. The host family was amazing and there was everything we needed and more at the property. All the amenities were on hand. We were only 9 miles from Rapid City and close enough to all the parks and monuments. Everything and every place we wanted to see was within an hour - Rushmore, Custer, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, Deadwood and the Badlands. We had deer and bunnies visit our deck area every morning while having our coffee and turkeys added to the mix in the afternoon while we were enjoying cocktails before grilling out. On top of everything else, it was very easy to find on google maps.

We will be back as soon as possible.

Our host family is now among our list of friends.

Peaceful, beautiful stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here for three nights and loved the gorgeous views and peaceful setting. We also had a great time playing pool in the evening after exploring the area. The hosts were helpful, quick with communication and made themselves available if we needed anything (and they had delicious brownies waiting for us when we arrived - a nice touch!) Super clean and had everything we needed. Thanks for a great stay - would highly recommend to others!

Exactly as described and so much more

  • 5 of 5

Sherry and Dan were the perfect hosts. The bottom floor of their home was beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean and so very quiet. We loved staying there. When we got there a cherry cheesecake was in the fridge for us and homemade jam...and water and chocolates beside the bed.

The first morning we woke up to 2 fawns, 3 doe, 3 buck, a rabbit and a flock of wild turkeys all in the yard at the same time. It is located in the perfect spot, right in the middle to where almost everything we wanted to do was an hour away.

We loved every minute of it and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for quiet nature. We fell in love with South Dakota and hope to return someday soon. We'll definitely be staying here.
