About the Property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)

Situated half way between the towns of Angers and Saumur (30kms), our log cabin in Ambillou Chateau is within easy access to many beautiful sites and is an ideal base to explore the Loire Valley.

Located in the serene gardens at the rear of our (300m2) garden, our cabin is 25 square metres and is equipped with a sofa, table and chairs, induction hot plate, microwave oven and fridge, and an adjoining bathroom with shower and toilet. Internet access is available (with or without wifi).

There is a choice of sleeping area; a mezzanine with access by a ladder, or in the living area where there is a very comfortable sofa bed. During the winter the cabin is heated by a log burning stove (believe me, you won't be cold!) It's well insulated which makes it warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

The table and chairs under the pine tree outside can be used for meals in summer and there is a hammock under the trees if you fancy a siesta. A barbecue is also available for use.

The Loire Valley is a UNESCO world heritage site and is an area of diverse attractions and landscapes that today make it one of the most popular places for tourists in the whole of France. It is probably best known for its architectural heritage, most famously its chateaux.

Several beautiful, historic towns, including Angers, Saumur and Chinon, are situated within easy driving distance and are well worth a visit.

There is also much to do in the surrounding area during your stay, including hiking, swimming and bike riding, and visiting the numerous impressive attractions which will both entertain and inspire you.

We are fairly laid back but one thing we do ask is that there is no smoking in the cabin - we'd like to keep it smelling of wood and not woodbines!

Getting here is a piece of gâteau!

By Car: From any of the Normandy or Brittany ports. The quickest and easiest journey being 3 hours from Caen (Ouistreham).

By Train: With Eurostar from London. The route London-Angers via Lille is the best option. You change at Lille for the Angers train and don't even have to change platforms.

Going via Paris is a little more challenging as you have to cross Paris to make the Angers connection.

By Plane: To Angers (Marcé) Airport from London City Airport with City Jet. Or with Flybe, Ryanair and Easyjet to the following airports: Poitiers, Tours, Nantes, Rennes

Owner info

About the owner: Hi. I'm Alison Lamy. Since moving to France from the UK in 1993 I have embraced the French lifestyle, especially the art of the aperitif. I am married to Dominique (who's French), and together we have two children: Matthieu and Olivia.

Why the Owner Chose Ambillou-Château, France:
My husband, Dom, used to be a tree surgeon and carpenter and built the cabin in the traditional 'fuste' style. It took him 3 years (off and on!) but the end result was worth the wait! We've been renting it out for a year now and have really enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life, from all over the world.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Everyone who stays here seems to love it. They find it comfortable and enjoyable. Here's an example of a guest review: 'Our stay at the log cabin was my favorite .....experience to date! The cabin is exactly as advertised in the listing. It's such a cute and charming place to stay. It is a short drive to many wineries and beautiful chateaus. We enjoyed it so much that we extended our trip beyond what we had originally planned. Alison and Dom are wonderful hosts. They are very friendly and caring and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Dom even took us on a tour of the nearby towns and told us about the history. They also let us use their bikes to tour the beautiful Loire Valley countryside. We really enjoyed meeting them and getting to know them better over a few drinks. We highly recommend the log cabin to everyone! It's relaxing, romantic and under the care of great hosts. We hope to come back and visit Alison, Dom and the cabin some day!'
