Enjoy the countless recreational activities (sailing, kayaking, fishing, golfing, tennis, hiking, etc.) of the Comox Valley from the comfort of this spacious 3100 sq. ft. three bedroom home located on 1.25 acres at the tip of Cape Lazo, just 8 kilometres from Comox. Its two-level, post and beam design with natural cedar ceilings creates a warm ambiance for the entire family to enjoy. On the main floor, expansive picture windows provide panoramic views of Georgia Strait, numerous islands, and the magnificent snow-capped mountain ranges of Vancouver Island and the Mainland. Gather around the Island in the spacious and well equipped kitchen with adjacent deck and BBQ.
If you are an “early bird”, catch the sunrise while sipping your morning coffee on the front east facing deck overlooking the sandy beach below, and delight in the abundant marine life: eagles, herons, sea lions or the occasional pod of Orcas. From the deck, follow the private path that very gently winds to the secluded sandy beach where one can walk for miles or explore the tidal pools. For the swimmer, the water in the summer gets warm especially when the high tide comes in over the hot sand during the day. It's considered one of the best beaches in the Comox Valley, and since the public access is a fairly long walk away, it's very secluded.
Stretch out with a good book in the shade of the fruit trees, or get some exercise playing bocce in our private back yard bordered by tall rhododendrons, and often frequented by deer. The evening sunset over Mt. Washington (watch it from the sunset deck off the Master bedroom) will delight, but the fun’s not over yet. Enjoy the moon rise over the water from the front deck where the day began. The fully lit cruise ships bound for Alaska will mesmerize as you contemplate another relaxing day in paradise.

My husband and I are retired teachers who have lived in the Comox Valley since 1974. We love the area and really enjoy all the recreational activities at our doorstep. We have raised our family here and can't imagine living anywhere else. Although we love to travel, our favourite place to be is home.
Our property offers stunning views, sunrise over the ocean and sunset over the mountains, complete privacy, a huge yard, decks all across the ocean side of the house, and a sunset deck with garden, mountain and ocean views off the master bedroom. The deck on the ocean side of the property overlooks a gorgeous, secluded sandy beach that goes for miles and is great for walking, swimming, and exploring the marine life. Public beach access is quite far, hence this beach is very private. We have a trail on our property that is unique to us and our immediate neighbours. Marine and bird life is abundant and beach activities are endless.
While this is only our second season offering our home via VRBO, we have rented for many summer seasons through a different rental agency. Here are just a few of the many comments left in our guest book:
* Really came to view your place as a tranquil sanctuary as the week went on. Outstanding photography ops, beaching combing, hiking, swimming…we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Val & Mike
* Awesome! What a a fantastic location and lovely home. Many hours were spent relaxing on the deck and walking along the beach. Prendergast family
* What a great vacation! A very restful place to be. We enjoyed the ocean view, watching the tides and the seals, exploring the beach over and over, always finding something new. Every day we found a new place to hike! Watzke family
* Your lovely home was the highlight of our vacation. Our family will come away from here with an abundance of beautiful memories from exploring the beach (so full of life everywhere you look), to staring in awe as a bald eagle glided through the sky over our heads! VanHorn family

Nine years have passed since our last visit (which was our 4th) and my, do we love those renos! Spectacular views and light throughout! How amazing to wake up to a spectacular sunrise without even having to lift my head from the pillow!! A slightly different focus on this walk down memory lane—less badminton and beach (none), more walking and staring at the views which we just love! Only two of us this trip, as our son just turned 25, now a working stiff!
We have rented many places over the years in many different parts of the world, but no one opens their home like Don and Dale. You feel like a long time friend welcomed to come on in and make yourself right at home. Oh and by the way, we cleared away the sock drawer for you! We feel as though we know you and your family all so well by the many beautiful photos displayed throughout and are delighted to participate in your lives from afar. I think I could pick you out of a crowd with no trouble even though I think we only met Dale ever so briefly many years ago!
Thank you again for sharing your little piece of heaven.
Some things we really enjoyed - surprisingly great shopping for all sorts of things in Courtenay, wonderful walks/hikes/bike routes in Comox, Mt. Washington, Miracle Beach, Campbell River, plus we just have to give a plug to the Spice Hut in Comox - deelish!
This is a very nice property and brings one up to date in experiencing the latest in electrical wiring. It requires a little bit of time until you figure how all the modern lighting works. Everything is very up to date. This is a large property with fruit trees, apples, pears etc that you might as well eat before they drop on the ground. This property is well landscaped with many plants and flowers. Many decks around the building provide great views of the ocean. There is a large deck that overhangs the beach. A manageable trail goes down from the property to one of the best ocean beaches in the area. This trail is not good for seniors over 80 with pace makers.
We were 3 generations; 4 adults and 2 young children. The home is quiet, secluded and well-maintained. Beautiful, well-equipped kitchen, big enough for all 4 adults to work in. Magnificent views! Lots of deck spaces outside and comfortable seating areas inside. Great sand beach, sparsely populated, super for sand castle building and exploring with the children.
Our grown family all met in Comox for a week of hiking, kayaking, exploring and some just hanging out together. Dale and Don's house was perfect for our family. It has a fabulous kitchen for gathering and cooking together, spectacular views of the water and mountains in the distance, a beautiful garden with flowers EVERYWHERE! There are at least 4 different decks outdoors for sitting, relaxing, reading, whatever. We loved walking the beach, right in front of the house, and exploring the tidal pools. In the evening, when we were all pooped from our day, we'd go downstairs and watch a movie on their fabulous TV. Almost like being at the movie theater! Truly a beautiful property! Dale & Don provided a good list of local restaurants with their own personal recommendations, farm to markets, and other sights to see in the area. We are recommending this property to our friends.
This was our 1st stay at this beautiful home and would definitely return. The views are amazing Wth very large windows. A very well equipped kitchen and pleasure to cook in. I enjoyed the beautiful quiet beach walks. This property is very well maintained with beautiful flower gardens everywhere. My children loved staying at this house and are already asking to go back again.
This was our 12th stay in this wonderful family home. Once again, we enjoyed the amazing views, the cosy couches and the well equipped kitchen. The birds in the birdbath and darting around the garden, are a constant delight. A BBQ dinner on the front deck overlooking the ocean and mountains can compete with any oceanside restaurant.
We lunched out at the many excellent restaurants in the area but always dined on the front deck, at the house, weather permitting.
Beds are super comfortable with great duvets and pillows, so often overlooked in rentals!
Dale and Don are very attentive hosts and always available for any questions, via phone.
The Comox Valley is a very vibrant community set in a valley between the Beaufort Mountain Range and the ocean, or Salish Strait, a protected body of water between the East coast of Vancouver Island and the Mainland. It is rich in the Arts, Theatre, Music, has great restaurants and also offers the opportunity for every kind of recreational sport imaginable on water or land. The beauty of the Valley is unequaled as mountain and ocean views from just about anywhere abound. There are daily flights into Comox and the nearest ferry to Nanaimo (1.5 hrs. from Comox) from Vancouver is a beautiful way to arrive on Vancouver Island.
