Everything about this property fantastic. We met Ralph upon our arrival and he gave us the low down on how everything works. We rented his kayak for the week and while only using is one time it was still worth it. The snorkeling just off the property was good and I even caught a few fish with a tiny fishing rod.
The Maxi-Mart made shopping easy any we ate breakfast and some dinners on the lawn with breathtaking views each time. Parrot fish and turtles would graze right below while we feasted above.
We took the bus and ferries with a weekly pass and Ralph and Julie would always ask if we needed a ride down the hill to the bus station located just outside the Maxi-Mart. They are wonderful hosts and know everything there is to know about the Island. We visited St. George, Hamilton, Dockyard, Horseshoe Beach, Warwick Long Bay, Church Beach, Swizzle Inn, and Tobacco Beach. We went bottom fishing with Baxter's Reef tours on the Ellen B and caught plenty of fish for 3 meals.
Totally awesome location to spend a week in Bermuda where we celebrated 25 yr Wedding Anniversary.
Thanks again, Ralph & Julie
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location! The studio apartment was furnished with everything we needed and the beautiful ocean and sunset views from the bedroom and garden outside were spectacular! We rented a kayak from Ralph and Julie (you absolutely must do this!) and explored the beautiful waters, coves, inlets and beaches in the area for hours each day. The best snorkeling we found was just a short swim off our backyard! The Maxi Mart supermarket was an easy 8 minute walk and we were able to buy everything we needed there...fruits, vegetables, cheese, meats, beer and wine. We barbecued several evenings on the gas grill right outside our door and enjoyed dinners by the sea. We decided to use the local buses (stop is right outside the maxi mart) and made our way easily to Horseshoe beach, the Dockyards and Hamilton. We walked along the beautiful Bermuda rail trail to Someset bridge (about 20 minutes from the apartment) where there is a marina where you can rent boats, jet skis, or charter fishing trips or snorkeling/dive trips. We plan to return to Bermuda and will definitely stay here again.
What a delightful paradise!
This is the perfect place to stay in Bermuda. Our studio was gorgeous and had everything we needed (plus some!) to accommodate us comfortably for our week's stay. We choose public transportation and it literally only took us 8 mins. to walk to the bus stop which is right next to the Maxi Mart grocery store .. was very convenient and a good choice. We were "home" every evening to sit out and enjoy drinks from the lower lawn and watch the beautiful sunsets and enjoy evening swims. We grilled out most nights right under the moon. We had such a wonderful time. We never saw the owners and felt like we were in our very own private paradise the entire time.
The wifi connection was great even down in the lower lawn, the a/c was chilly and cooled the house down quickly, the television had many channels including USA local news, there are plenty of towels and a really good hair dryer.
Thank you, so very much, for opening your beautiful home to us!
This property was perfect for us! The view from the backyard was one of the best on the island. Steps leading into the ocean for snorkeling & swimming were perfect. With a short walk to the market we could stock the refrigerator. Quaint & quiet, I would recommend this place to family and friends.
This place has the most beautiful view, just simply breathtaking. Our stay with Ralph and Julie was amazing. The place was cozy and had everything we needed. I can't wait to go back. We renter scooters and were able to maneuver the island easily from property but this was also our 5 the visit. I am so glad I found this paradise.
If you want to explore Bermuda like a home away from home this is the place. The market is a 10 min walk away so we made breakfast and dinner everyday, the BBQ and picnic table sit right next to an amazing view. Half of my pictures are of the sunset right outside our door.
We also loved that you could swim off the backyard, water was shallow and crystal clear with reefs all around which was great for some casual snorkeling. And if you ask nicely you can rent a double kayak from Ralph, we spent a couple days exploring the island that way, it was so relaxing and romantic.
Kitchen was fully equipped and they have a TV with 100 channels to keep you occupied for the rainy nights.
Now lets talk about the property owners, truly one of a kind people.
If your lucky and Ralph isn’t busy with his Bermuda tour company or saving the planet he can pick you up from the airport for regular taxi fare; This man and his beautiful wife know everything about Bermuda so take advantage! If you don’t get to pick their brains on the cab ride over its ok because they are just upstairs. They are very accommodating and kind and even invited us over for Christmas dinner. We liked that they were close by if we had questions but they respected our privacy as well.
My boyfriend and I are in our Late 20’s early 30’s and love to travel. We have been getting tired of the old hotel scene and this is exactly what were looking for; off the beaten trail but accessible to the rest of the island. Living like a local in the sunshine!
