Why Ralph and Julie Richardson chose Sandys
There are very few options for west side ocean front properties. At a half mile from the road, the location is quiet, except for the distant hum of fishing boats passing as they head out to sea and back. As a young couple they spent 10 years with their 4 children as the only family on a 25 Acre Island campsite in Bermuda. They accepted the job as caretakers of a Bermuda Government Campsite so that they could bring up their very young children in a farm environment. The 25 acre island provided that opportunity for 10 years. They often share photos of life on the island as they pass it on their tours. After the island experience, they chose to purchase a house on the waterfront and actually moved via boat to their new home. Their 4 children (oldest is 45) are all out of the house and they are home alone with occasional visits from their kids and one or two of their 10 grandchildren. The lower apartment is just right for a couple. It is not large enough for more than two people. Guests love the spot where they can swim, snorkel or kayak from their own back yard. The Apartment has wifi Cable TV. Full standing refrigerator and a stove with oven. The AC is oversized and provides excellent climate control. The list of other amenities can be found on the amenities page on this website page.

Outstanding oceanfront location and terrific hosts!
We just spent 9 days here and our trip couldn't have been better. Ralph and Julie are outstanding hosts and were easy to communicate with and made sure our stay was comfortable. The studio is cozy and has everything you need. It's very private and quiet. They have a Twizy charging station on-site which was really helpful. Spectacular sunsets, crystal clear water, and an available kayak to explore the shoreline. Can't say enough great things about our stay. Thanks!
You were both such lovely guests. You seemed to have enjoyed every facet of your trip, including the occasional rainy day and the one big winter wind storm. Neither of you mentioned one complaint. You said it was a perfect stay and we are thrilled that you had such a great time and the choice of the small electric car was a good one. We would be more than happy to host you again. All the very best in 2020 (and beyond).

Lovely stay at Wrexford cottage!
Julie and Ralph are terrific hosts, very kind and hospitable!
Hello Bill and Martha,
It was a pleasure hosting you. We are glad that you were able to take advantage of the charging station on the property for the electric rental car. It is great that you were able to tour most of the island on your own.
We would be very happy to host you again someday.

We would highly recommend Ralph and Julie’s paradise at the sands. Ralph Provided us a historical tour and his knowledge was so very informative and extremely helpful. We look forward to returning .
We experienced hurricane Humberto.
The property is just beautiful. We stayed during hurricane Humberto, which in itself was memorable. Ralph and Julie took very good care of us to keep us safe. Thank you Ralph and Julie!
Relaxing, peaceful, beautiful view
If you are looking for a place to disconnect, recharge, and get lost in a sunset this is your spot. Sandys parish is great for exploring the quieter side of Bermuda. This property is a stones throw from your private ocean with sea grass turtle grazing and small reef clusters for snorkeling. Use of the tandem kayak (small extra fee) is a splendid bonus. The Richardson’s are great hosts, friendly and knowledgeable but also very respectful of their guests’ privacy and independence. The house is extremely quiet; we didn’t hear a sound from the living spaces above.
The studio space is efficient on size and with all of the supplies needed for dining on property. The outdoor terrace and grill are ultimately where you want to spend most of your time (when not in the water). The bedding is clean and comfortable.
The surrounding neighborhood is quiet, remote and within walking distance (10 min) to a market, bus stops, and public park with hiking trails. There is also space on property for scooter or elec vehicle parking.
While a bit remote from the more resort and tourist focused areas, we found this as a positive and enjoyed the accessibility to those areas (20 min) while also having a place to escape it all.
The sunsets complete the experience.
