Why Ralph and Julie Richardson chose Sandys
There are few options for west side ocean front properties. At a half mile from the road, the location is quiet, except for the distant hum of fishing boats passing as they head out to sea and back. As a young couple they spent 10 years with their 4 children as the only family on a 25 Acre Island campsite in Bermuda. They accepted the job as caretakers of a Bermuda Government Campsite so that they could bring up their very young children in a farm environment. The 25 acre island provided that opportunity for 10 years. They often share photos of life on the island as they pass it on their tours. After the island experience, they chose to purchase a house on the waterfront and actually moved via boat to their new home. The children are all out of the house now and they are home alone with occasional visits from their one or two of their 9 grandchildren (soon to be 10). The lower apartment is just right for a couple as it is not large enough for more than two people. Guests love the spot where they can swim, snorkel of kayak from their own back yard. The Apartment has wifi Cable TV. Full standing refrigerator and a stove with oven. The AC is oversized and provides excellent climate control. The list of other amenities can be found on the amenities page on this website.

Like living in a dream!
Staying at Wrexford Cottage and being hosted by Ralph and Julie was one of the greatest privileges I have ever had! This was my very first solo traveling experience and I truly could not have picked a better place to stay. Looking back on my experience here, I have to say it still feels like a dream. Ralph greeted me as soon as I arrived and went out of his way to prioritize that I was, not only comfortable and safe, but that I had an amazing time in Bermuda. He even drove me to the grocery store, helped carry in my bags, and had two bus tickets on hand so that I could make my way to Hamilton to buy my bus pass. The ocean front property is so perfect and spectacular it doesn't feel real. To be able to step right into the ocean just a few paces from your door is such a luxury. The apartment itself was just right. Though the door to the space is off of the backyard, I felt that I had complete privacy throughout my trip and kept the door open all day long. I had a wonderful time cooking, reading and listening to music all while enjoying the incredible views and ocean breeze! I even decided to stay in one day just to fully take in the experience of staying at Wrexford. It was truly my own little paradise and I couldn't be more grateful that I chose this place as my Bermudian home for the week. The cherry on top of my already impeccable experience was simply getting to meet Ralph and Julie. They are genuinely amazing people and even if it weren't for the perfect location and super comfortable stay, I would come here again simply to be able to talk to them once more. The forecast for my stay wasn't perfect and since I was alone and had no plans, Ralph was so determined to make sure that I enjoyed Bermuda and was able to see the whole island, he used up almost an entire day of his free time to take me on one of his famous tours completely free of charge! It was such an honor to be shown around by a true local with such a rich knowledge of the island and its history. Ralph and Julie can answer any question about Bermuda that you could possibly dream up and it was so comforting to know I was in such great hands throughout my trip, had I ever needed anything. I can't say enough great things about my stay here and I'll never be able to thank Ralph and Julie enough for all of the kindness they've shown me, but I hope I can at least convince one more person that they MUST stay here too! And definitely call Anthony for all your taxi needs! Sweetest man alive!
Thanks ever so much for your kind review. We must add that you came during our off season for tours. As we operate a tour company, we had lot of time and were more than happy to show you a bit of Bermuda.
Our retirement business allows us an amazing opportunity to share our island with visiting guests but also to host them at our home. It was a pleasure having you join us.
All the best with your future plans.

Great view in a private location
The apartment is as described, small but clean and convenient. The view is amazing, every sunset is a real show. The private beach is great with a lot of colorful fish around (ideal for snorkeling). The host is very helpful and easy to reach.
The property was quiet, simple, and the westward view was spectacular.
We had a wonderful time in Bermuda. Our driver Anthony was incredible. We saw a lot on a rainy day and learned about Bermuda history and culture. We also gained insight on places to eat and experience: The caves, the grotto spa, Hamilton beach, and many other amazing and uncrowded beaches, jet ski tours (which we loved), The Pompano, Henry VIII, and on and on...Although we could have easily stayed at the cottage and just relaxed with the beautiful ocean right out the front door too. Great trip!
Breathtaking ocean view!
Ralph and Julie, the owners, have a first class getaway right on the water, looking west, that allows for some of the most beautiful sunsets you could hope to see on Bermuda. We enjoyed going to the marina close by and meeting fishermen as they arrived back in port with fresh wahoo, yellow fin tuna and dolphin! We cooked our fresh fish out in the grill almost every meal! You can’t get better than that. The accommodations were comfortable! We overpacked, but we made due with the storage provided. We loved snokeling off the end of their property, within an easy swim. A minimart at the end of the road, and bus stops right there at the minimart made it convenient. Thanks Ralph and Julie for opening up your home!! We’ll be back.
Hello Lowell and Becky,
It was a pleasure having you join us. We seemed to have connected on many fronts, especially over the expertly grilled wahoo and tuna. Thank you for sharing. That was a pleasant surprise.
We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to next time.
We will remember you both and hope that we will stay in touch.
We wish you and your family all the very best for the future.
Cheers Ralph and Julie
Beautiful surroundings and view
We so enjoyed Wrexford Cottage. A clean efficiency studio furnished with everything you need for a comfortable stay directly on the ocean! The comfortable king size bed was wonderful. We slept quite well. Visiting there in May, the water was cool for swimming, however we enjoyed sitting in the Adirondack chairs seaside to enjoy the mornings, and watch stunning daily sunsets. We barbecued dinners and enjoyed them at the outdoor teak dining table overlooking the ocean, it was so relaxing. Ralph and Julie Richardson are gracious hosts and very hospitable. They are wonderful people, and we're so blessed to have met them.
We rented a scooter for transportation. It was strange at first driving on the left! The ferry and busses are other ways to get around. Taxis as well. We did ride the ferry and the views were beautiful, a real convenience. The beaches were breathtaking. Do not forget to visit Horseshoe Bay, a must see! One of the most picturesque places on earth! We discovered the Somers Supermart in Hamilton, and St George where they have a delicious hot / cold carryout buffet. It served as a great place to pick up lunch and eat at the nearby parks. We dined at the Swizzle Inn in Southampton Parrish as well.
Purchasing food was pricey compared to the US, but there was certainly a good selection of meats, vegetables and fruit. The only meals we ate out were for lunch, everything else we made in the well equipped kitchenette. We must say that our stay at Wrexford Cottage made for a vacation of a lifetime. We chose it and Bermuda for our 25 year wedding anniversary vacation. Ralph and Julie Richardson are fine hosts with warm, generous hearts, and a tremendous wealth of knowledge about the Island and it's history. Make sure that you call upon Ralph's good friend Anthony Caisey to pick up and drop you off at the airport. What a warm precious man he is. We would like to visit Bermuda again and would love a stay at Wrexford again!
Thank you very much for your thoughtful and kind review. You, along with others, have made our decision to rent our apartment to vacationers a great delight. It seems to be such a perfect match to our retirement job as owners of a local tour company. We certainly enjoy doing both.
We are delighted that you had such a wonderful stay at Wrexford. You seemed to have enjoyed every aspect of your stay and we are happy for that.
You are more than welcome to return. We would love to host you again.
We wish you the very best and would like to thank you again for writing this review.

Wrexford Cottage is a beautiful, relaxing location for a Bermuda getaway!
We were right on the water, so enjoyed kayaking, watching the parrot fish, and beautiful sunsets. It was great being guests of Ralph and Julie...we loved learning about Bermuda and the history of the island. Our rental was near a bus stop and a grocery, so very convenient. We would recommend Wrexford Cottage highly, and hope to return one day!
Hello Ben and Cristy,
It was indeed a pleasure meeting both of you. We are thrilled that you enjoyed the property and managed to get in a few days Kayaking. I am sorry that the turtles were not around in great numbers yet. I know that you wanted to see them. Thanks again for choosing Wrexford. We hope to see you again someday. Maybe you will both see the Green Flash at sunset next time (smile).
All the very best to you both.
