About Marida Musso
I moved from Palermo just a few months ago and I live in the main house with my husband, dogs, cats and my mother. I have a degree in Letter and I'm a teacher in Latin, Greek and Italian for stidents of liceum and University. I like to warmly welcome the new guests and make them feel perfectly at ease. I am ready to meet their needs and solve small problems to make their pleasant and relaxing vacation, I gladly entertain in a fast and friendly conversation, I suggest them most interesting tourist destinations and traditional Sicilian dishes and the popular festivals to see: the whole, without invading and always respecting their space and their time. Somebody says that my enthusiasm for Sicily is infectious. I provide recommendations when my guests-friends ask and otherwise I let them enjoy their time in Sicily.
Marida Musso purchased this Villa in 2007
Why Marida Musso chose Santa Flavia
My husband and me bought this home because we needed the home of my husband's Institute of Scientific Research. Tourism gives food to scientific research.
What makes this Villa unique
I love this home because of the romantic atmosphere: the ancient pink building immersed in a large mediterranean garden overlooked by the archaeological ruins of the ancient Soluntum, and overlooking the village of Santa Flavia with breathtaking views on the hils, the sea and the mountains around Palermo. You can touch the wonderful Monte Pellegrino and walk along the way to go to the duomo of Monreale. Because of the distance from the road (mt.200), the place is very peaceful but you can easily get to the lovely and clean village of Santa Flavia and the very pleasant harbour of Porticello with nice restaurants. Because of he near train line/station you can occasionally here a train horn, but they don't run late so it shouldn't disturb anyone - I actually like hearing the trains, they gave a romance to the place. Palermo is about 20 km and easily reachable by train too. I recommend this house strongly for who likes a good quality of stay in Sicily .I like to welcome my guests and they feel very much at home.

Beautiful peaceful and private property, lovely pool area and facilities.
Peaceful and tranquil location, easy access into the town. Each villa has its own terrace and is quite private. The pool is lovely with comfy sun loungers, again quite easy to find a private spot if desired.
The villas are spacious and nicely laid out, with lots of room. Comfortable bed.
Secure properties with a gated entrance, the elevated position makes for some fabulous views.
The owners Marida and Giuseppe are very friendly and helpful, with lots of suggestions for places to visit, eat and shop.
Santa Flavia and Porticello are within walking distance (10-25 mins).
It's a little paradise where you can relax and spend unforgettable holidays between culture and nature, you may taste very good food and meet very friendly peole. Higly recommended
My stay at Villa Paladino Solunto
During my stay at Villa Paladino Solunto,I resided in a two room suite- "Fico Nero".The suite was immaculately clean and tidy and was complete with 2 aircon units, very necessary for the temperatures at the time of the holiday!!
The suite was superbly maintained and all the facilities were working at the best state possible.Supplies of all the usual soaps, cleaners etc.were provided for immediate usage.
The Villa Paladino Solunto is set well back from a road, and has an electronic gate system and a mechanical gate at the front entrance, both operated by the set of keys provided by the owners.Obviously security of the site was of high importance to the owners.
There was a small pool on site and was provided with sunshades and loungers to allow a very relaxing stay.
The pool and accessories were well maintained by Marida's husband and was provided with lighting at night if requested,a nice touch!
The Villa has well maintained gardens, with white gravel paths
leading to the various suites, which are all nicely separated should privacy be required.
As the shopping facilities are some distance from the main Villa,a car would be a necessity and would help with exploring the local good restaurants and historical sites.
In all, a great Holiday was experienced at this site and I would have no hesitation in recommending this to friends and family.
Dear Horace V., thanks for your nice words. We're very glad that you and your family enjoied your holidays in Villa Paladino Solunto. You know that tourism activity is aimed at financing my husband's scientific research institute that is located in this villa.
We do all our best to give our guests-friends the best relax.
The care of the garden, the pool and the suites takes valuable time away from scientific research.
Best wishes to you and your lovely family. We hope to see you again in sunny Sicily.
Cozy place to relax
It was a very nice holiday. Marida welcomed us warmly, even went to get pizza and beers for us the first evening, when we arrived relatively late (thank you!!!).
The Villa is indeed a little bit remote, so if you like to take a walk in Santa Flavia or Porticello, it is recommendable to make the small trip from the villa to the village by car. Other than that, it fulfilled all our expectations. So if you like what you see on the pictures - book an apartment in the Villa Paladino Solunto :-)!
Dear Ute, many thanks for your nice words.
I'm very glad you enjoied your stay in my home and found everything you needed for your holidays.
Hope to see you again. All the best!!!!
A recommandé.
Dear friends, thanks for your nice words. i'm very glad you enjoied your stay in my home and in Sicily too. I hope we can meet again. All the best!!!
The charming complex of Villa Paladino Solunto is an oasis of peace and relax at the gates of Palermo, between myth and history, sun and sea, nature and culture. It is a perfect place for anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing break thanks to the gorgeous setting with an incredible pool similar to a natural lake in the middle of a large Mediterranean garden rich in different species of birds and plants, thanks to the great views down to Santa Flavia and the Gulfs of Palermo and Cefalù, the spectacular sunsets on the sea you can admire sitting on the benches and the deck chairs around the pool or under the shadow of a big olive tree, close to a palm tree, while eating a sweet fig or a prickly pear just picked. The closest sand beach is only met 800 far from the Villa. Boat trips in the clear waters around the Rock of Ant, full of dolphins, and rides up to the Aeolian Islands can be arranged. 200 meters away you may visit the touristic village of Santa Flavia and the fishing villages of Porticello and S.Elia, where you can taste delicious Sicilian dishes. Approximately 1 Km. after S.Elia, driving along the quite panoramic coastal road, that flows around the Natural Reserve of Monte Catalfano, you’ll get the promontory of Mongerbino and the seafaring village of Aspra with its breath-taking views on the Gulf of Palermo and Monte Pellegrino. At the same distance you can admire the beautiful eighteenth - century villas built by the best Sicilian nobility on the panoramic luxuriant hills of Bagheria. Next to SS.113 and close to the junctions of the A19 and A20, Villa is also a strategic point from where you can easily reach the priceless treasures of art and nature in Sicily:you can easily reach Palermo, the famous beach resort of Mondello, the town of Monreale, home of the most beautiful and important cathedral in the world, as well as the famous tourist town of Cefalu, with its beautiful beach and the Cathedral Arabic Norman, the beautiful Castle of Caccamo and many other must-see places of great tourist interest. Recommended excursions in the large and spectacular Madonie Park, reachable in 1 hour.
