*read below for explanation of how the property is priced* A big house, the kind most American kids dreamed of growing up in. Settled on the furthest edge of town, this 7 bedroom, 3 bath house is private, yet convenient. The 100-mile view as the horses run up for the evening makes it hard to leave!
This amazing 7 bedroom, 3 bath home will make you instantly like you're a part of it. The property borders the very northern edge of town, and the panoramic view is what the wide open prairie is all about. Build in 1896, the home is totally renewed with all the modern conveniences, but we've maintained all the classic charm of a historic farmhouse. Full office space, wireless, ping pong and foosball tables in the basement, along with a steam shower and soaking tub. Patios to the North and East for cooking out or relaxing, and a dining room table that seats up to 12. The property is vacant most of the year, so you'll have plenty of privacy. . . and the fully stocked kitchen will make cooking a pleasure as you watch the horses run by.
And did I mention the view from the breakfast nook? Unbelievable panoramic view of the beautiful prairie sunrise.

Can’t say enough about this property. If you are looking for a beautiful view to go a long with a lovely farmhouse feel this is your place. Cant say enough about Kristin’s beautiful property. This is our second stay here and hope to have many more!
The house is beautiful and nostalgic. I love older house and the basement bathroom was great. The walk in steam shower was relaxing. The view around the house is great and very quiet location. Owner was great to work with and very helpful with anything that was needed and communication was great

family weekend
The house offered plenty of space to enjoy time together and also enough space to get away and recharge when needed. VRBO should update the lockbox code in the "keys" email as the wrong code was sent to us.
The house is alot older than it appeared in the listing. There were dead flies all over. The sink in the single upstairs bathroom was nonfunctional. There was only one bath upstairs for 5 rooms. Kitchen counters in poor repair.

Thanks for the feedback. We are doing our best to get the parts needed for the upstairs sink. Fortunately there are two other bathrooms. we clean any windowsill flies between each group - but they do show up almost daily during this time of year. The listing is up front that this house was built in 1896, and the photos are accurate.
We were looking for a peaceful weekend getaway. It was just that. The views are beautiful and the horses came up to the fence line every morning to say hello.
Upon arrival, we were wowed by the landscape surrounding the house and then in awe when we walked in the front door. Your property is very cool and the house has a charm of years past that makes it unique and a treasure. We all enjoyed our stay and had plenty of room to move around and enjoy our time together.
I was looking for a place off the beaten path to spend a long weekend with my daughters and grandsons. I could not have asked for a better experience that at Kristin’s family home! So much character, plenty of room, great entertainment for teenage boys and what a magnificent view! We will definitely visit again and recommend this place to anyone looking to unplug and just enjoy the wide open spaces.
The house and surrounding land were beautiful. Would highly recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Kristin Bennett
I grew up in this small town, and after living in several cities, decided to purchase a permanent place here to get back to reality; a place for my family to connect with rural America, nature, and each other. We currently live in Rapid City part-time, and maintain this beautiful home as our anchor, where our hearts call home.
Why they chose this property
This house is a local home, passed down through generations of the Moeckly family. When the home had to be moved to a new foundation, we took on the project. Moving a huge 3-story house was no small task, but in the end it was so worthwhile. The large stucco home now sits on it's new site where it overlooks the beautiful prairie as far as the eye can see to the North, East and West. You can visualize the history of this house in the historic photos on site, and feel the many generations of love, holidays, kids raised, and visitors welcomed here.
What makes this property unique
There aren't many places that can sleep this many (15 without using couches!), and still feel like a home. It's historic, but fitted with all modern conveniences you'd find in a 4-star hotel - from free wireless internet service to big screen TVs. But we hope you'll take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the available solitude, and the feeling of connecting to a simpler time.
