Why Jacques Boucher chose Saint-Jory-las-Bloux
Elegant castle in the truffle country In the heart of the truffle country, the elegant castle of Laubertie is located in the middle of the countryside on a limestone plateau in the “Périgord Blanc”. The castle is surrounded by a park of 2 hectares and near fields and woods of 25 hectares. Its location and its charm will delight you. This castle built in the 19th century in a neo-classic style shows the taste of this time for the Renaissance period. The coat of arms on the pediment of the tower and on the mantelpiece of the fireplace belongs to the Lasecuras de Lépine family. Near the park, a few meters from the castle, the heated swimming pool (which is perfectly secured) seems covered by the fields of sunflowers or grains according to the seasons.

Beautiful and peaceful!
We had the most wonderful two weeks at Chateaux Laubertie. What a beautiful, peaceful place. The house is full of character and is equipped with everything you need and the garden is just amazing to walk around and explore or sit under the trees and relax. Beautiful views from the pool overlooking the field of sunflowers.
Our host, Jacques Boucher, was very helpful if we needed anything.
We didn’t want to leave!
Quel bonheur d’avoir Janine et sa famille au château Laubertie ! Nous espérons les revoir car ils sont presque des amis. Revenez vite.

The castle is located three kilometers away from the small village of Sorges, (worldwide!) capital of truffle. During the harvest period (December and January) there is each Sunday morning a truffle market which is very animated and with a really specific atmosphere.Besides the harvest period, you can visit the museum of the truffle that will let you discover this Perigord's speciality. You can also find a bakery, a grocery, a newspaper store, a pharmacy and a hotel-restaurant which is well-known, “L'auberge de la truffe”. You can also buy fresh products directly from the farms around.
By the Napoléon road, you can join the little city of Thiviers with its typical market of Saturday morning (around 12kms).
By 20 kilometers, you will discover Périgueux, capital of the Périgord, which has been classified as “Ville d'art et d'Histoire” (Art and History City) with its narrow little streets, hôtels particuliers, its protected districts and the Saint-Front Cathedral, classified in the UNESCO's Humanity World Heritage.
By 30 kilometers, you could visit Brantôme, the “Perigord's Venice”, very charming little city with its well-known restaurants and its very nice castles of Bourdeilles and Puyguilhem. A little further, you can also discover the Auvézére valley and its prehistoric sites such as the famous Lascaux's cave. You can also discover the vineyards of Bergerac a little at the South of Périgueux. And also think to wonder next to the river Dordogne where you will discover charming villages, old castles settled on the cliffs and the lovely city of Sarlat, which is really animated during the summer.
