Holiday cottage on a beautiful Cornish beach

Villa Comino is a family owned two bedroom holiday cottage on Praa Sands, a beautiful beach just seven miles from Penzance. The mile long beach is great for families and surfers and the South West coastal path runs along the cliffs above the beach. The house sleeps seven and has a large private garden great for BBQs and playing games and with stunning sea views.

Facilities include:
- Bedroom 1 - double
- Bedroom 2 - double and bunk beds
- Large living / dining room with TV, DVD player, open fireplace and a sofabed
- Bathroom with shower over bath and heated towel rail and separate loo
- Well equipped kitchen with oven/hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, kettle, toaster etc
- Airing cupboard useful for drying beach things!
- Private garden suitable for BBQs and games
- Plenty of parking
- Wifi

Disappointment with Villacomino.

On entry to the property not very inviting as it smelt nasty of stale Asian type cooking, resulting in us going out to buy plug-in airfreshener. On looking round we found the kitchen to be very outdated in need of upgrade. The grill pan in the grill was left dirty so we did not use it. The fridge freezer was disgusting on the outside looked quite grimey, there was spilt dried coffee on the shelf above the serving hatch. In the living room dining area the wooden chairs and table were outdated in need of upgrade. We were only able to use one electric socket out of three as two didn't work, the TV was to small without many channels. There was an open fire we were asked not to use, the open fire was one of the reasons we booked this property so we were extremely disappointed. Now we are both in our 60s bearing in mind its very cold no one had the foresight to go to the property the day before we arrived to switch on the electric storage heaters so the property would be warm on our arrival. We were very cold the first evening. The flooring in the toilets disgusting as some tiles were cracked and broken not very good for a toilet! Needless to say we will not be recommending this property to family and friends.

Dear Geraldine, thank you for your review. We do apologise for the lingering cooking smell left in the house, the property was cleaned and extensively aired prior to your arrival however these types of smell can be hard to eliminate. The cleaner did miss cleaning the grill pan and we have spoken to her about this, and the other point you raised, to ensure both are cleaned properly from now on. The bathroom floor is slightly cracked and we are awaiting a repair. However, please be assured that the floors are thoroughly sanitised and this is merely a cosmetic issue. As you can tell from the listing photos, and the price point at which we operate, the house is basic and the size of the TV is shown. We did advise you ahead of your stay that the house does not have central heating and that the fireplace is not operational, however the storage heaters are effective and we also provide plenty of instant electric heating alternatives such as plug in radiators and fan heaters. Subsequent to your review we have tested all the electrical sockets in the house and all seem to be working fine, so not sure what happened for you. I hope next time you book a trip you find somewhere more suited to your needs. Best wishes!

Wonderful Stay - Thankyou!

We had a fantastic time ... and not just because of the beautiful Cornish scenery. The accomodation was bright, clean, warm and well equipped, and it very quickly became our home for the week with loads of space to relax in. We couldnt have wished for better owners who went out of their way to ensure we were welcome and that everything that was provided worked well.. They were kind, friendly and considerate and great with very helpful communications - Thank you. The bungalow was perfect for a family holiday with lovely touches such as guide books, comfy beds, a well stocked cupboard with extra heaters, blankets etc. and the wonderful discovery of a brief history and guide to the area written by the gentleman who built the bungalow, and whose family now run it. (included in this was a guide to local photography - my fave - and very interesting piece about Marconi and the first trans Atlantic wireless). The weather wasnt great whilst we were there, and it was a joy to return to a snug and cozy house after days out on the windblown cliffs in March. The beach is very close and the neighbourhood is very friendly with a lovely useful shop just up the road. The only complaint was that we had to go home at the end of the weeks booking... it was hard to leave ... We definetly recomend Villa Comino and definetly come back for another holiday and we had a brilliant relaxing break . Would give 10 stars if we could. Huge thanks!

Lovely house in a perfect location

Spent there 4 lovely days with 3 adults in October. The house is in a quiet location, very close to a wonderful sandy beach. The house is well kept, clean and well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The installations worked well, so did the wifi. Before coming, we received comprehensive information by e-mail (key, electricity, ...) and found them again well explained in the folder in the living-room. Small explanatory labels e.g. at the boiler make it easy to work out the functioning of the installations. As we were there in October, we couldn't enjoy the spacious garden as much as we would have loved to (due to a strong breeze), but it must be wonderful to use it in the summer. Places like Penzance / Land's End / Marazion are within easy reach by car. There is a bus connection, but off-season it runs fairly scarcely. All in all, I highly recommend this place, and would love to come back.

...second visit and enjoyed it just as much as the first, lovely quiet location next to the beach and pub, equipped with everything you could need for a holiday. Beautiful scenery and walks and of course surfing. Cant wait to visit again

Beautiful location, right near the sea! Came at a cold time of year so house was freezing for first few days and took long time to warm up! Shame you had to bring own bedsheets, towels, tea towels etc etc Never had that before with any other air bnb! But overall great family size house and vey enjoyable holiday!!

We do make it very clear on our property page that we are not able to provide any linens so this information is known prior to making a booking, I'm sorry that you found this to be an issue. We are looking into options for a linen service in the future and once we have this organised we will update our listing accordingly. We'd love to welcome you back when it's not in the middle a a snowstorm and will get to enjoy the beach a bit more!

Perfect for our purposes - great place, good location

All mod cons while retaining quite a bit of retro sixties charm, Villa Comino is situated in a nice quiet spot close to the SW coast path. Perfect for walks east or west with stunning scenery and great places (with pubs, eateries etc.) in easy distance, say 4-5 miles. Equally good if you just want to relax, supermarkets in short driving distance to stock up. Tip: get a Cornish pasty in Porthleven, they're superb. Would definitely go there again, also owners Lizzie & Sarah are very helpful.

Superb location, clean comfortable and quiet.

Very close to the beach, southwest coast path, convenience store and of course the pub which serves very good food. The property was very clean and tidy with everything you will ever need for your holiday. We enjoyed every minute of our short stay at the Villa Camino...just wish we could have stayed longer.

Very enjoyable

The property was large, clean and in a lovely position. We had children and grandchildren with us to see the lights at Mousehole this was an ideal location to get to all the main destinations. This property may not be a five star hotel but it was clean, homely and very accommodating. The people in the local shops were very helpful and the beach was only over the road and was a good clean beach.
