Driveway is ample for 3 cars. The road leading to our cabin is a combination of curvy paved and gravel road. There is about 1/4 mile of steep bumpy gravel road (as the house sits up on ridge). The house is 2 hours from Metro Atlanta, 10 miles to Blairsville, and the turn off is just 1/4 of a mile from the entrance to Vogel State Park.
This area is filled with great activities for all. There are amazing hiking trails, rafting, tubing, just 11 miles to Lake Nottely - where there is a beach and boat rental, horseback riding, North GA zoo, gem mining, golf (a great course in Blairsville and plenty of put-put around), fruit picking, zip lining, and much more!!!
This house was purchased as a get away for our Atlanta family. We are fortunate to have 3 generations of immediate family all living within a 3 mile radius in downtown Decatur. We will be renting the house for 6-8 weeks annually, and hope that you enjoy it as much as we have so far.
Elle Vickery purchased this cabin in 2015
We have been very careful to make sure the house it well equipped, as we don't like to have to worry about bringing too much (and want you to feel the same way!). It really is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the stunning nature that is North Georgia. We are located just 2 miles from Vogel State Park and 3 miles from the Appalachian Trail head on Blood Mountain.
The view from this house is stunning. You will wake up each day will a calm appreciation for it's beauty. Just 2 hours from Atlanta, this is a whole different world. Our property is just 3 mile from the Appalachian Trail on Blood Mountain.
As lovely and secluded as it is, the house is well located and only 5 minutes from an amazing BBQ restaurant (Jim's Smoking Que - nationally recognized); 15 minutes from a large grocery store ( Ingles, with an impressive selection), a Walmart, Home Depot, many restaurants, a nice public golf course, Meeks Park (tennis, batting cages, Frisbee Golf, walking trails, etc...), a regional Hospital, and much more. Blairsville is the county seat.
Great location and we really enjoyed the drive up to the house. Beautiful setting.
First, the directions Elle sent were spot on and the "road" up was challenging at first and took a couple of attempts. You definitely have to get your speed up to make it. When we arrived, the cabin had not been cleaned and there were dirty towels on the floor, dirty beds and a hot tub in need of some help. I called Elle, and she confirmed with the cleaning agency that there had been a scheduling mix-up and they would not be able to clean for 2 days. Elle offered us a hotel or access to her owners closet to access more linens and hot tub chemicals ( I have a hot tub at home, so I was comfortable checking/adjusting). Since we had been driving all day and it was getting dark, we decided to make the best of it. We stripped the beds, did laundry, swept, cleaned bathrooms and shocked the hot tub, etc. Elle was sincerely apologetic and compensated us fairly for our troubles. The next three days were great. The cabin is well stocked, has beautiful views and is secluded. We would definitely stay here again. Despite the rough start, Elle answered her phone immediately and was easy to work with to ensure we were satisfied.
We had a wonderful time. The cabin was very comfortable and well stocked. It had everything we needed and the layout was perfect for our large family. We all enjoyed the game room and the hot tub. Initially, we were concerned that the smoke from the forest fires might obstruct the view but that was not at all the case. The sunrises were spectacular! The homeowners were prompt in communicating and very accommodating. Thank you again for the opportunity to make treasured family memories!
First, thank you so much Paul and Elle for making this process so easy going and fast. The communication was direct and very helpful, from the payments, directions to what we should expect from our stay. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms and overall space was very comfortable, tidy and nicely decorative. We couldn't have found a better place to get away to relax. Thank you all so much.
Like another review says you hate to rate it so well b/c then you would be competing for future reservations. Thank you for an incredible mountain escape!
Our stay was wonderful. The home was lovely and well maintained. The view from all decks on the back side of the home was amazing. We were able to have breakfast outside while viewing the mountains and in the evenings view the stars from the upper deck. The home is so much larger than it appears outside.
We enjoyed the pool table and air hockey table as well as the different board games at the home.
This was the first home we have stayed at that the kitchen was adequately stocked with enough dishes and larger cooking items(pots and pans) that matched the number of people it would accommodate. Thank you
The home owner was so nice and helpful. There were no issues during our stay. We would love to stay here again.
