2/12/18 update - pilings have been driven, so noise is MUCH reduced, and should not impact a stay at the moment beyond what we already have in road noise from the beach road. However, I am still somewhat discouraging rentals too far in advance or for multiple weeks, as I really don't want dissatisfied guests. I'll continue to update at least monthly, and I'm happy to check on by request.

Full Description:

The SeaWitch is perfect cottage for those looking for a classic cottage with modern conveniences - new central A/C, new stainless appliances, Dish Network DVR system with 65" LCD TV, and FAST internet! There are 3 bedrooms, the "Yellow" room with a king bed and 50"wall mount LCD TV with Dish Network and DVR, the "Blue" room queen "Tempur-pedic" bed, and the "Green" room has 2 twins. The bathroom has a newly tiled shower with handheld spray and glass tile accents, cabinet style vanity, and lots of hooks to make sharing easy. There is also a nice large outside shower, completely rebuilt and repainted with new controls and showerhead.

The house is very dog friendly - large yard completely contained with 4' wire fence attached to wood fencing; we just added fencing around the kitchen stairs so dogs can be let into the yard without having to go outside now. The beach access is located on the Kill Devil Hills / Nags Head town line, which means the rules are different if you go left or right at access - Nags Head allows dogs on leashes year round (I've never had a problem letting them off leash to throw the ball though) but KDH restricts dogs on beach from Memorial Day to Labor Day between 9am and 6pm. So, you basically have to turn right at the access to go into Nags Head during the summer.

The living area features a large, comfortable couch for the humans and older "Crate" furniture for the dogs, a 65" LCD "Smart" TV, High Def. Dish Network TV with DVR, Surround Sound System, Blue Ray Player, and blackout blinds so anytime is movie time. A large picture window makes the great room feel even more spacious. WiFi with 60 MB cable internet and new "AC" router means (usually) fast internet, testing around 63 MB

Kitchen features an "Induction" range, boiling water faster than but with the control of gas, and no wasted heat. Three level stainless dishwasher is so quiet you can hardly tell it's running. Stainless Fridge with Ice-maker is big enough to hold the week's groceries. I've tried to include every item I can think of for the serious cook, right down to a remote meat thermometer and kitchen scale. Gas Grill outside has cast iron grates for nice sear lines.

50 year old milled wood T&G walls in the great room will take you back in time while the brand new Allure Plank "Country Pine" floor throughout the entire house feels great underfoot and is easy to keep clean. New ceiling fans throughout the cottage as well as a brand new central heat and air system, over-sized for quick cooling.

We will only rent to adults over 25 and families, with families much preferred... sorry kids, no spring break beach weeks. Rates include: The rental with 2 TV Dish DVR and WiFi, sheets and towels for each bedroom (enough for 6 people), and all the taxes.

There is a downstairs apartment which is being used for storage and will not be rented. We occasionally may stop by to get something out during the day.

When you exit the cottage driveway turn right to head towards 8th street that is an easy 1 minute walk to direct public access on the left (ocean side) and a boardwalk to the beach.

Within walking distance of many of the restaurants on the beach road like Kill Devil Grill, Red Drum, and a short bike to Tortugas. All of "French Fry Alley" fast food is a couple blocks away. Various stores for shopping are also within walking distance. Ben Franklin, Harris Teeter, Ocean Atlantic Beach Rentals are only 2-3 minutes away walking. And of course Ms. Helen's famous biscuits is just across the by-pass - you know when the work trucks line up at a place in the morning and at lunch, it's got good food.

Under the porch there is plenty of space to store your fishing rods and beach accessories. There is an outside shower as well, just remodeled as of 6/12/2015.

Brand New (May 2016) HE front loading washer and dryer in utility room.

You will be located near the Wright Brothers Memorial, Outlet Mall, Manteo, Elizabethan Gardens, The Lost Colony Play, North Carolina Aquarium, Jockeys Ridge State Park, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Jeannette and Avalon Fishing Piers and Charter Boat Fishing. We highly recommend the beautiful drive down Rt. 12 through the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and a visit to the Currituck Lighthouse, and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

This Sunday to Sunday cottage with check-in at 4 pm and check-out at 11 am the following Sunday. The Seawitch is great for a couple, small family, or groups wanting to keep additional family & friends close by.

Our home, although in the tradition vintage style cottage, the property is fresh and clean. It was renovated in the winter of 2014 and spring 2015.

4 quiet days of peace

House was perfect for a family of four with two dogs. Could let the dogs out of the kitchen door and not worry about them. The beautiful part was NO SAND SPURS...;-) Kitchen was very well equipped and house was clean. We would stay there again.

Home with hospitality!

We have rented many houses along the Atlantic coast and this was the most welcoming by far! The instructions for electronics were easy to follow, the kitchen is well stocked for those who love to cook, and the first time we've encountered a "pet friendly" rental that was a true friend to pets (dog gate, blankets, and toys were waiting). If you don't want to cook, there is plenty of good food within walking distance and the beach is a skip away while you still feel secluded. We will be back year after year looking for an open weekend at the Seawitch.

Amazing 5 days at the beach!!!!!

My husband and I just spent 5 days at Seawitch and we are having difficulty deciding on our favorite part of the house...we have narrowed it down, sort of

Huge wrap around deck! - some of it covered - with plenty of seating including a dining area where we ate dinner every night of our stay

Extremely well equipped kitchen! - we love to cook and this kitchen had every utensil we needed including lots of pots and pans and sharp knives (a rarity in beach houses) Also love the induction range!

Outdoor shower was fantastic! - it was clean and very big (no cobwebs or bugs)- love outdoor showers at the beach!

Comfortable bed - slept like a baby each night! perfect mattresses!

Soft towels - Honestly the softest towels I have ever felt!

Dog friendly - Our lab loves family vacations and he was in heaven at the Seawitch; fenced in back yard, dog bowls provided, hanging out on the deck!

So close to the ocean! We could be sitting on the beach in less than 5 minutes and also could hear the waves from the deck.

We will definitely be staying at the Seawitch again!

Dog-friendly rental

My husband and I, along with our 2 dogs, spent 2 nights at The Sea Witch. They dogs absolutely loved the large, fenced in yard. We loved being within easy walking distance of the public beach access and numerous businesses, especially the Kill Devil Grill. The cottage itself is cozy, comfortable, and clean, with everything you might need, including coffee maker and bean grinder, toaster oven and even dog bowls, in case you forgot your own. The outside deck is wonderful for sitting with a beverage and watching the world go by. The dogs loved sitting outside with us, too! Two thumbs and two paws up for The Sea Witch!

Wonderful beach weekend

John's house was exactly what we were looking for. A quaint beach house with all the amenities we needed and only a short walk to the beach. It was clean and spacious. We'd definitely stay again.

My wife and I have been in real estate, design, rentals, and construction on the Outer Banks for 20 years. I recently started thinking about designing and building "spec" homes again, and bought this property to rent to students and then tear down and re-develop.

Then I fell in love. Within a week of starting work on it, the plan changed from student rentals-tear down, to restore and add modern touches to make a great weekly rental, bridging the way is used to be with the way people like things now.

I spent six months doing everything I could think of to improve the place while keeping the old charm. We took the bathroom down to the studs to make it the nicest room in the house. Added a huge TV, fast internet, surround sound system, best stove I could find, new flooring, new doors, stripped and painted the old drywall, all new bedding, and more.

A unique combination of new and old make for an inviting, homey, comfortable stay that you just can't get in a house with no history. I can't tell you how many people have told me about the great times they've had in this house, back to the glory days when it was built in the sixties by someone named "Steponovich" which is how it came to be called the "SeaWitch". It's located right in the middle of everything and only steps to the beach.

I've priced it below our competition, cottage courts like the SeaSpray Cottages, which are booked solid for the summer at $1800 a week, while arguable offering more than they do.

This cottage is quaint and open. Great for gathering to socialize. The cottage is walking distance to the beach, groceries, drug store, the new ABC store, nice restaurants, fast food, beach rentals, everything! We are also local owners, very knowledgeable about the real estate market in case you might have questions, and will do whatever it takes to make your stay pleasant. Right next door to one of the best and most reasonably priced restaurants on the beach, the Kill Devil Grill. Great wide beach just 150 steps away with good surf breaks at the moment. Beach Road bike path at the end of the driveway and lots of back streets are wonderful for walking and biking. You can't get a more central location for all the Outer Banks has to offer! Jockey's Ridge Sand Dune, Wright Brother's Memorial, Nags Head Woods Trail, Historical Nags Head Oceanfronts, all within 5 minutes of the Sea Witch.
