About Ariane Cometa MD
Mark and I met as resident doctors in Portland in 1994. We bought "See-Air" to keep us connected with Maine, when we moved to Maryland for training purposes. We love and take very good care of her through gardening and care-taking friends on the island year round.
Ariane Cometa MD purchased this House in 2000
Why Ariane Cometa MD chose Peaks Island
This house is in a quiet location with easy access to the beautiful back shore rocky beaches as well as the Trefethen tennis, sailing club and beach. We have a beautiful big lot. The house has been enlarged and improved upon 3 times prior to our improvements and is a piece of artwork!
What makes this House unique
Lots of space for everyone. Very cozy but open and airy home. There are plenty of amenities of comfort. Walk to the shore for sunset cocktail or watch it from the porch. Grill on the deck or stroll into town for dinner and an ice cream. Peaks Island living is laid back with lots to do. Rent a bike and tool around the island. Picnic on the granite ledge of the back shore or the sands of Sandy Beach!

Perfect, charming and comfortable!
Having never been to Peaks, our family of 8 (all adults) immediately felt at home at See-Air. We were very comfortable in its well-blended mix of old cottage charm and modern amenities. The location on the northern ‘quiet side’ of the island can’t be beat. The house and property are both private and easily accessible. Large kitchen and deck were perfect for our big family meals. The outdoor space: yard, shower, BBQ and sweet (free standing) one room mini cabin was enjoyed by all. The beautiful adjacent meditation garden completed the scene. BTW, Albert (the house manager), was very kind and helpful prior to arrival and continued to be available once we settled in. We would be happy to return someday.
Fantastic home and property to vacation and relax with an extended family.
The house is situated in a great location, it’s close to the beach, club house and back shore. The house also feels private because of the surrounding hedges. My daughter loves the mini apartment/she-shed and the outdoor shower is the best! Great house, great property, great time!
Comfortable house on a quaint island
We had a lovely time on Peaks Island. The house was very comfortable for our family (6 adults + 3 children) and had a lot of games and books for the kids which were definitely a plus. The backyard was very lush and pleasant. Unfortunately for us, we did not get to take advantage of it as much as we had wanted due to the bad weather. Peaks Island is a very small island with beautiful landscapes but only a couple small sandy beaches and some restaurants. If you are looking for entertainment, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a little R&R, this is definitely it! We also recommend that you bring your own bikes because the house does not offer any and the rentals are quite pricy. We hope to be able to return to Peaks soon!
Perfect little spot for weekend getaway. Very well cared for cottage with lovely details. Directions were clear and caretaker was very helpful. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
A comfortable home
This home worked very well for us. A quiet, lovely setting. The ample bedrooms and the very sweet mini "day" cottage gave everyone privacy and comfort. (note - the three bedrooms upstairs require navigating a bit of a tricky staircase). The kitchen and baths were just nicely remodeled. I shared with the owner that the pillows and protectors needed refreshing and she explained that we were the first renters of the season and that was on the list to upgrade. The hidden bonus is a very sweet meditation garden just across the road that is part of the property and enjoys a view of the water. We spent a couple of lovely happy hours there before dinner on the deck.
Fun Wedding Weekend!
Very quaint house - loved the nooks and crannies. Would recommend that linens/towels be available as part of the house rental instead of an additional charge. The deck and front porch were great to sit on and visit with family.
Peaks Island has a lovely little town that has restaurants, an ice cream parlor, bike and kayak rentals, shops and a great grocery store. The island has many sturdy paths for biking and hiking/walking as well as well paved roads for walking and biking. There are beaches tucked in all over the place and both sandy and granite rock beaches to sit on.
