The Best of Both: Eastern Lake Living Just A Paddle Away From The Gulf

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,500 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

4 bedroom/4 baths/2 story/2 living areas/lakefront/Gulf view/2 Large Porches

New!! Take a look at our video!! (The icon is in upper left of the photo box.)

It's all about access... and this home has the best of both. If you want to explore Eastern Lake, on a paddle board, kayak, or canoe, you can simply step off the porch and you are on the lake. If you want to go the Gulf, just paddle south, and you are at Eastern Lake Inlet, one of the best places in all of South Walton for children and adults to enjoy the sand, the sun, and the sea in one special place.

"The Best Of Both" offers two separate living spaces, but connected with interior stairs. The upstairs has it's own master bedroom and master bath, as well as a full sized guest bedroom with private bath. The upstairs also offers a full modern kitchen and the most panoramic view of the Lake and Gulf you could ever wish for. The downstairs has another master bedroom and master bath and a bunk room for the kids, which also has another bathroom. The downstairs offers a breakfast kitchen, with an under counter refrigerator and ice maker, as well as a microwave . The downstairs porch has a grill and is convenient to the lakefront by an rustic walkover. It's a perfect place to launch your water crafts. There's an outdoor shower in the courtyard.

If you venture North, the lake will take you to the backwaters of Eastern Lake, or to "The Old Florida Fish House", if it's seafood you are interested in. If you venture South, the Gulf of Mexico will greet you, as you sit yourself down in the crystal white sand and gaze at the emerald green waters in front of you.

If paddling isn't your style, it is a short walk to the beach, or you can rent bicycles to cruise the almost 30 miles of bike paths that are readily available nearby.

Great location! Love the views!

  • 5 of 5

This house is really beautiful! A great layout for our families, nice floor plan bathrooms for everyone was a plus! We enjoyed our time spent on the lake and we loved being so close to the ocean at the same time. We enjoyed the porches and the space to spread out space for everyone. The furnishings and decor made the vacation special because it felt warm and inviting. It was comfortable for gathering and visiting. There were a total of nine adults in our group and we all enjoyed our time. Thanks for a great get vacation!

Carefree and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The house was lovely, very open. Very close walk to the beach. Property had canoes that my teens rode to the beach.

The view was great! You can see the ocean from the back deck.

Nina and Gerrett were very friendly.

Will definitely will stay here again. Location for us was perfect, away from the crowded Seaside, but close that we could bike there and back.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

WE stayed one week. On our first day we asked the owner if the house was available for summer ! The house is beautiful, has been restored with a lot of charm. The location on the lake, near the beach is the perfect deal. The owners live next door, which makes things very easy if needed. But they are not interfering with the guests. Very very nice indeed.

Great House!

  • 5 of 5

Our group has stayed near Eastern Lake a number of times....this was our first stay on the lake. What a beautiful view! The lake is gorgeous and you can see the ocean/inlet too. The canoe trip to the beach day with all of our gear was easy and enjoyable. The walk to the beach is short and easy too. We caught red fish on the new dock and the kids had a blast with pin fish and crabs too. Great beds, great decorations, house was clean and ready to go! kids loved the bunk room...king beds in all the other bedrooms is a plus. We will be back soon!

Still Cannot Stop Thinking About This Place!

  • 5 of 5

This was my first VRBO experience and I spent hours trying to choose the right place for the lot of us. This listing kept pulling me back, and I am so glad I went with my gut!

This home is just beautiful. It was perfect for us- a family of 5 (with teenager, 4 & 6 year olds) and my mother, with 2 couples joining us on either side of the week. Every bedroom had a bathroom, which was wonderful (my mom particularly liked that). There is only 2 stories, which worked well for my mother who had broken her pelvis in the winter and was still recovering. Spending time on the porches with that Eastern Lake view was so restorative. We grilled out and cooked several meals in the gorgeous kitchen. Loved that there were bedrooms on both floors so everyone had some space.

I have never been in a canoe/rowboat before, so was skeptical about using it for transport to the beach, especially with 2 small children. I was so wrong. It was perfect. It made the trip to the beach an adventure instead of a task. We also rented paddle boards and used them to explore the lake and go to the beach.

I was lucky enough to visit the East of Eden Retreat and Spa during my trip for a massage and Reiki treatment. It was phenomenal! Also, we got seafood from Goatfeathers and it was delicious.

This was the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation I have ever experienced. I really cannot stop dreaming about coming back to this amazing place. If we can swing it, it will definitely be a yearly thing. Thank you so much, Nina, for your hospitality, and for creating this sanctuary!

Beautiful Beach Rental!

  • 5 of 5

This beach house is gorgeous! It was perfect for our extended family of six adults and six children. The views from the porches of Eastern Lake were beautiful! Even our youngest made the short walk to the beach with no problem. The canoe provided a very convenient way to get all our gear to the beach. We basically enjoyed the house and beach, but it is a short drive to either Seaside or Rosemary Beach if you need an outing. We would highly recommend and hope to return to this well planned and comfortable beach house!

Our place is located halfway between Seaside and Rosemary Beach. Both of these towns are renown for both their architecture and the activities surrounding their downtown neighborhoods. Shops and restaurants of every variety are to be found here, as well as special events such as concerts, farmer's markets, and festivals.

Other nearby towns are Grayton Beach, a quaint, historical beach village, boasting the ever popular Red Bar, for casual dining; and, as a complete contrast, Alys Beach, about four miles east of here, is a planned community of international style and grace, that evokes the feeling of Bermuda, or perhaps, Morroco.

We are surrounded by state forests, with a multitude of Coastal Dune Lakes, and several gorgeous state parks nearby. Bicycling, or exploring the lakes by canoe or kayaks, seems to be the popular pastimes, and with a minimal effort you can transport yourself to Eastern Lake Inlet, truly a special place to relax by the sea.
