One room cabin with extra sleeping loft. Kids, pets and horses welcome too!
The “Redhead Tom” log cabin, a beautifully restored mountain dwelling dating from the early nineteenth century. Spend cozy evenings next to the woodstove after hiking the trails of the Big Ivy section of Pisgah National Forest. The cabin is set under shade trees overlooking a meadow that joins the forest. You can relax on the porch and listen to the mountain stream at the edge of the farm. We also have a bungalow that sleeps at least 6 and can host events such as weddings or retreats if you want to share your visit with family and friends. Bring your boots, fishing pole, mountain bike, horses, dogs and kids - whatever makes this visit the best it can be. We are at the farm next door to help with anything you might need.
If you would like to schedule an event here we have a 1000 square foot open space that can accommodate classes, workshops, catered meals for groups. Plan a wedding in the meadow and your honeymoon in the cabin.
You can rent the Boundary End Farm Bungalow for an additional space to sleep 6 or more. Check it out at VRBO# 736395.

Why Ann chose Barnardsville
Boundary End Farm is an idyllic property nestled at the end of a small, tranquil valley adjacent to the 3600 acre Coleman Boundary, or Big Ivy section of the Pisgah National Forest. We have two unique houses available for rent: a cozy three-bedroom, two-bathroom bungalow built in the craftsman style, and a fully restored historic log cabin from the 1820s – one of the oldest such structures in western North Carolina. At Boundary End you can enjoy hiking, biking, trail running, trout fishing, camping, stargazing, horseback riding and endless nature trails that are all accessed directly off the farm property. Or you can just sit back and relax beneath the gorgeous forested mountains, looking over pastures and meadows. Big Ivy historical park is a five-minute drive, where you can find playgrounds, a historical museum and a swimming pool open seasonally. Bring your family and friends for a vacation or retreat. Schedule a weekend of workshops or classes with your favorite crafting or art group. Plan a wedding in the Stone Circle and stay in the romantic honeymoon cabin. Bring your horses and explore the spectacular trails. There’s no better way to experience the authentic life of Appalachia while enjoying a full compliment of contemporary amenities.

We absolutely loved our little weekend get away. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay forever. A cozy little cabin just perfect for us (two humans and our dog who thinks she's a human). We cooked both indoors and outdoors with ease, but preferred the outdoor griddle. We did two really great, vigorous hikes right from the doorsteps of the cabin. Thank you Ann and Jay for a wonderful, recharging weekend!
My wife and I were visiting Asheville but didn't want to stay near downtown. We found that the Cozy cabin met all of our needs. We didn't care about TV or Wifi, we just wanted to get away from all the Hussle and bussle of our daily lives. The cabin is situated right on the egde of the Pisgah national forrest and a horse pasture. Shortly after our arrival Jay met us and was kind enough to show us around his property. We were able to interact with five horses, a goat, and some dogs. We brought along our golden retriever and she had a wonderful time playing in the pasture. If you love nature and want to get away from it all, this cabin is a great place to stay.
Quaint, quiet cabin near trails and river.
Very clean, beautiful location. Close enough to Asheville for dinner and shopping. Does have WiFi but reception very limited in cabin, have to be against window to get a bar, just don’t expect to be able to stream movies or do work. Easy walking access to good trails.
Thanks for the review. We are happy that you enjoyed your visit! Thick log walls make WiFi a challenge and we are getting better service soon from new service being offered in our remote area.
Nice cozy little cabin in the lap of mother nature
Nice cozy little cabin in the lap of mother nature. Many trails nearby for hikers. Douglas falls and walker falls are very near. Perfect weekend getaway.
Beautiful place in snow!
Don’t be afraid to rent this place in winter! The wood stove and heater keep the cabin nice and toasty! Jay brought up extra firewood to the porch for us- Ann and Jay quickly responded to any questions we had as well. We really enjoyed staying in a historical old cabin. The early snow this year made our stay special and gave us a wonderful white Christmas adventure!
Great weekend...family had a wonderful time!
Quiet, peaceful location in the mountains with hiking out the front door... kids loved being outside and sleeping in the loft.
Just a short drive to the charming little town of Weaverville with everything you need. Drive 15 more minutes to all that Asheville NC has to offer -fantastic restaurants, music, arts and crafts, shopping. Surrounded by National Forest with whitewater, zip-lines and endless trails for your boots, your bike or your horses.
