Make memories in our cozy and peaceful home nestled in the fragrant Northern Michigan pines, in Rogers City, Michigan. Our house was built in the 1950's, and we renovated it with stylish mid-century modern touches. We just updated the kitchen and have a new gas range and oven, new refrigerator, and new stainless steel cookware, perfect for the gourmand traveler. The house is stocked with high quality linens, bedding, and towels, and we strive to make sure you have the essential ingredients for a comfortable and fun stay. Relax in the living room, front and back sunrooms, or the enclosed backyard. There is a downstairs bedroom and a large upstairs sleeping loft, and the house can comfortably accommodate six guests.
The Hideaway is located a half-block away from the beautiful sandy beaches of Lake Huron and directly across from Hoeft State Park. Indoors we have a game room - with pingpong and foosball - and outdoors you will find a custom-built fire pit, grill, hammock, horseshoe pits, and outside dining area.
In summer, set out for a walk, hike, bike or run on the miles of public trails, beaches, and paved paths right outside the door. Rent a kayak in town, and explore nearby shipwrecks and lighthouses. In the fall, revel in the gorgeous changing leaves, sip a cider or two after picking apples at the local orchard, and trick-or-treat in the state park on Halloween! Come winter, walk across the street to access miles of groomed cross country ski trails, that sometimes feature lantern-lit nighttime ski events. In spring time, look for morels, watch for budding flora, and enjoy the crisp nights and warming days.
We love traveling with our dogs, and we welcome your dogs, too! The backyard is enclosed with a fence, so if your dog is not a digger (meaning under the fence) or a jumper (meaning over the fence), he or she can also enjoy relaxing off-leash outdoor vacation time in the backyard. We have dog food and water bowls for your use, along with eco-friendly pick-up bags.
Due to the location of the home, there is no cable television (although we do have two TVs with DVD players and a nice collection of movies), cell service is limited, and we do not have internet or wi-fi. Many of our past guests have welcomed the peace and tranquility that comes with not having cable and/or internet. However, we understand that internet access may be important to our guests, and we recommend a mobile wi-fi device called a Mi-Fi device or molenecom wifi, which . some of our past guests have used to great success at our Hideaway. These types of products can be purchased through your cell phone provider and attached to your existing data plan. They vary in price but the investment should assist you greatly in receiving a wifi signal on any vacation.
