About Ken Gulaian
Hi everyone! We are Kari Heerdt and Ken Gulaian, and as the owners of Round Peak Vineyards, we'd like to introduce ourselves and our team. We met in Cincinnati in 1998 when we both worked for General Electric. We moved to Charlotte, NC in 2000 for a new job opportunity, loved it, and decided North Carolina was where we would stay. Careers got in the way though, and in 2006 we moved to San Francisco for Kari's work. This proved to be instrumental since it resulted in a lot of time spent enjoying wine in Napa, Sonoma, and especially the Dry Creek Valley. We particularly enjoyed the small family owned wineries. When we got the chance to return to North Carolina in 2008, again for Kari's work, we jumped at the chance. Ken had already decided it was time to give up the corporate world, and when we found out there was an opportunity to own a winery in North Carolina, we couldn't resist! After visiting, being impressed with the wines, and seeing the spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we decided to take the challenge.
Ken Gulaian purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Ken Gulaian chose Stewarts Creek
The Vineyard House, and the adjacent Winery House, create a really unique rental opportunity, where you can stay right in the heart of wine country, relax and enjoy some fantastic views, hike around our 33 acres of vineyards and woods, and yet still get out and participate in the many activities in the region.
What makes this Cabin unique
Next door is both a winery (Round Peak Vineyards) and a craft brewery (Skull Camp Brewing). Included in the rental is a tasting of either wine or beer for each adult renter (21 & over). With both Mount Airy (home of Mayberry) and Elkin (heart of wine country) close by, there is something for everyone to do!

The cabin has an amazing view. The location is great , and you are a short distance from everything. I will be staying here again in the future.
Thanks Matt, and very glad you enjoyed your stay! I'll look forward to meeting you next time. Cheers, Ken
Cozy & Charming Cabin
The cabin was perfect - very comfortable and well appointed with everything you could possibly need. We used the fire pit to roast marshmallows and walked with our kids and dogs in the vineyard. We hiked Pilot Mountain which is a short drive away, and loved the charming town of Mt Airy - everybody was super friendly and our dog was invited into every store to shop with us! The owners of the cabin reply to questions right away and the wine tasting room is right next door so we enjoyed a tasting and our hostess was wonderful. It was a cold 19 degrees when we visited and we still had a fabulous time. Highly recommend the cabin.
Thanks Charlie, very glad you enjoyed your stay, and thanks fro the nice note! That was one cold week! Cheers, Ken
Great Place, Beautiful View
As always, Round Peak was great. The facility was terrific and the staff in the winery were super friendly. Top that off with an amazing view and it was great!
Thanks Christian! Thanks for renting with us, and I trust you had a great New Years! Cheers, Ken
AMAZING CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY!
Wow, what a lovely cabin! It is hard to put what a wonderful time we had into 2500 characters. The owner was helpful and responded to our request in a timely manner. Ken answered all of our questions and was wonderful to work with on getting our rental reserved for our Christmas Eve arrival. After planning for several months we found that this was perfect for our first Christmas Mountain adventure. From the moment we walked in to our rental to the minute we drove away, all of the family enjoyed this trip. Cozy and warm each room was exactly how we expected. The kitchen was so well equipped for our Christmas Eve goodies and Christmas day breakfast. Spacious/open to the living room and the view from the back screened in porch was just gorgeous. I can imagine being there when the weather is warmer and sitting out on the porch while grilling enjoying the view. The master bedroom and bathroom on the first floor were perfect since climbing stairs is not always good for me. The rest of the family enjoyed the 2nd floor bedroom and bathroom. There were 2 other bedrooms providing more than enough room that we didn't even use. Extra supplies, paper towels, trash bags, etc. were easily accessible. The laundry room was right off the kitchen and provided extra storage for bags and boxes we had used to pack our groceries and things from home. The entire layout of the cabin was just right. Our fur babies had a great time too. Walking the vineyard and playing in the fenced in area they ran and had so much fun. The cabin had everything we needed and more. The winery is lovely and the staff made us feels at home. The young lady that helped us told us about the free tastings that came with our rental and yes everything we tasted was delicious. While walking the vineyards there is a beautiful gazebo overlooking the area. God’s beauty at it’s best!! There was a hiking trail and disc golf. Not that I knew how to play it, but it was a very good set up. The area was so nice and peaceful. We were able to go to downtown Mt Airy, which was only a short ride away, and walk in the shops and stores. This cabin is in a perfect location for those wanting to get away and enjoy the beauty of the area. Close to our daughter's future in-laws, I am hoping that we can stay at Round Peak again in the future. Maybe see some snow on one trip or seeing the grapes growing on the vines on another. Looking forward to more Mt Airy adventures visiting Round Peak!
Hi Laine, Gary,
Wow, what a nice review! Thanks so much for choosing to rent with us, and I'm very glad you enjoyed your stay! We do have a great staff, which makes all the difference for us. Have a great New Year's and 2018! Cheers, Ken
Perfect getaway home!
Aside from the weather not cooperating (rain/drizzle/fog) ----- this was such a wonderful escape! Very clean and quiet! The house was fully equipped --- even shampoo/soap in the shower/bath! The towels were thick and plentiful. We didn't lack for anything!!
There were two couples, and the house was very private for us both.
The only negative comment I can make is that the heating vent in the upstairs queen bedroom blew the air on our heads while in bed. We closed the vent -- which made it loud. Also, I would personally bring my own pillow next time ..... because, we will be back!!!!
Thanks Laurie, glad you enjoyed your stay! I'll take a look at the bed layout to see if we can move it away from the vent. We haven't had that comment before. I hope we get to meet next time! Cheers, Ken
The cabin is located ~ 10 miles from downtown Mt. Airy, famous as "Mayberry" from the Andy Griffith show. It is also about 20 miles from Downtown Elkin, and is in the heart of the Yadkin Valley wine region.
