Cabin has double wood siding interior & exterior that keeps it quiet inside, good people & rules make it great, or we help enforce quiet time rules. FM 356 traffic is normally quiet at night but can have some traffic noise during day.
Also not in cabins and or not normally any nuisance to people, but guests should be aware that we are on a natural lake and there can be in wetlands area across the street or in brush snakes, spiders, snapper turtles, alligator across the bridge, hawks, eagles, raccoons, etc. No real danger but occasionally for a couple days usually in spring or early summer, mom alligator will come and drop off a baby alligator off every couple years, stats with it a couple days then leaves. Baby tends to be about 3’ to max 3.5’ when this happens, is too small to be issue, can still only eat max size bullfrogs, kind of fun to watch, but then normally leaves as well within a few weeks cuz too much activity from us. Parks & Wildlife and licensed trappers both said to leave them alone when this small, just do what we do because most the little one can do is eat bullfrog and will leave to find different home if we keep up our activities. And after 8 years we see this is correct.

Our family had an amazing vacation. Cabin was spacious and clean as well as the camp ground. Owners were very helpful and kind. We will definitely be back
We enjoyed a few days here with our family. We enjoyed some fishing, boating, and grilling. Plenty of room for the 5 of us and enjoyed some family time for spring break.
Our family had a great time in Onalaska. The cabins are very clean & well stocked. The docks are perfect for fishing & hanging out enjoying the lake. The owners were exceptionally nice!
Enjoyed the cabin for a family retreat.
Location is right off state highway, so you will still have road noise. But lake view is great.

Thanks for you review Laura! Glad you family enjoyed and look forward to having you back. Nearby road is farm to market (not state hwy), can have noise during day, but normally quiet nights.
Nice 2 night stay booked last minute for a couple, grandparent, and 2 young children. Nice access to water, relaxing. Owners were very responsive and easy to work with.
Cute cabin - location assessible to places we wanted to go
Overall good. Spouse in wheelchair so the wood ramp was ok getting onto the cabin area. A grab bar in bath commode area would've been helpful. Owners were friendly and gracious. A bit of road noise. Pet friendly and overall good experience.
Cabin was adequate for our 2 night stay. Kids enjoyed the. kayaks in the shallow cove in front of cabin. Short drive to Lake Livingston State Park. Easy access to grocery store.
Not the best place e to fish. More of a couple retreat.

Not a correct review - many people fish and do well here, including as shown in some of the example pictures.
But Melissa's family rented our Jon boat and wrapped their fishing lines so full and tight in the trolling motor, and kept trying to run it bound up and burned the motor up. We were gracious and they agreed to pay $50 for their damages but then we paid $120 plus labor to replace it.
We try to help give instructions and help people to fish if they want, it's a good place to fish at right times and with right baits or lures, and we are more than happy to help, do help many, and some help us too.
Anyway, we are happy to help if you would like some help. Thanks for your comment.
Bernadette was the sweetest, friendliness lady, we just loved her. We had a fantastic family vacation. We took our adult children, grandson and dogs and we all had a blast fishing, swimming, kayaking and boating. My husband loved that he could dock his boat on the property. Thank you for a great family vacation.
This property has all you need for a fun, yet relaxing getaway!!!! My kiddos loves the loft beds! We did rent the power boat and had a blast! Rick and Berdenette were incredibly polite, nice, and available for any questions! Bonus - Bernadette provided us with life jackets for lake fun!!!

Thanks Shelly, we enjoyed seeing y'all have fun! Please do come again!
The cabin was equipped with everything we needed. It was very close to the lake. The communication between us and the host was very good. We were able to rent kayaks there which was a plus. Everything was in working order. Will definitely be coming here again. I recommend for families looking for a small get-away.
The owners are amazing!! They truly care about the people that come here. The cabin was nice and big and had everything we needed. It was also very clean. The AC's worked great but they were VERY loud which made it a bit hard to sleep. Even though it says swimming is available; the water was very dirty and brown. And we were informed that there is a baby alligator now. So we chose not to go swimming. The only thing we didn't like was the fact that there were spiders everywhere. On the outdoor furniture/cushions. The fishing pier and boats and the playground. And I don't mean your occasional bug/spider because you are outdoors. I am talking about hundreds of them. There were nests and webs everywhere. If they would be gone this would have been one fantastic vacation!! Overall it was really nice there and we enjoyed our visit very much :) Thank you Bernadette and Rick for being amazing hosts.

Thanks for your comments Martina. We took apart that one AC, changed the water drain line to other side, & gave it deep coil and fan clean and its back to very quiet now.l but very sorry for that inconvenience. Baby alligator actually left the week prior - as stated in listing when one comes once per year around same time it doesn't stay long cuz of too much activities and that size baby can only eat max bullfrogs so no real issue there.l and many of us are swimming, fishing, and boating. Spiders are tough, I do spray and have bug zappers but we are at the lake and have trouble keeping them away from all the grounds just like all the other places up here have similar issue in the lake - the spring birds are back and helping eat them though. Thanks for your comments!
