The Nightingale Lakeview Cabin captures the essence and beauty of Tahoe from the comfort of the living room. The home was built with Tahoe charm in mind, with lofty knotty pine ceilings and floor to ceiling windows to take in the view. The property has a gorgeous lake view to be enjoyed all year round and a spacious deck to add to the living space in the warmer months. This cabin is conveniently located about 5 minutes from Tahoe City and about 10 minutes from Kings Beach. It is just a short ride to some of the best skiing in Tahoe and is conveniently located close to some great scenic hiking.
When you enter the property you are greeted with a mudroom and a conveniently located laundry. Downstairs you will find a half bath, bedroom and the common living area. The first bedroom, located to the left of the entrance is furnished with a queen bed. If you walk further into the home you will find the kitchen, which is adjacent to the living and dining area, where you can enjoy the unobstructed view of the lake and forest. The living space is comfortably furnished with a couch and a couple of comfy chairs. One of the highlights of this room is the open circular fireplace that enhances the mountain ambience throughout the living area. There are open circular stairs to access the other sleeping areas. Upstairs is one bedroom with a full and 2 twin beds to house additional guests. There is also a loft area open to the living space that is furnished with a queen size futon for another sleeping area.
The property is located in a nice quiet neighborhood and although there are neighbors, the house is set back off of the street to take advantage of the Tahoe serenity. The property was mindfully constructed to make the most of the lake view. This cabin is opportunely located just a short distance from Tahoe City, where you have the conveniences of shops, restaurants and Commons Beach. Even closer to the property are beaches in the Lake Forest area. There is also access to trails for hiking and mountain biking just up the street. This is a convenient location in the winter months and places you roughly in equal distance from Squaw/Alpine and Northstar for some world class skiing and riding. If you are not much of a downhill enthusiast, you are in close proximity to the Nordic Center for cross country skiing and snow shoeing. This property allows for the best of both worlds-you have the serene and peaceful character of the home, coupled with a convenient location to enjoy the services of Tahoe City.
This is a dog friendly house but in order to bring a dog you must pay a $60 dog fee. If you bring a dog without paying the dog fee you will be subject to a fine and are in breach of contract and can be asked to leave the property.
Additional Fees include cleaning fee, dog fee if you are bringing a dog, administration fee and local Transient Occupancy Tax.

We really enjoyed our stay. The mud room was very nice to clean up in before entering the living area. The fire place, huge deck and awesome view made it hard to leave. The shower being upstairs was not quite as convenient as we would have wished but there is a half bath in the mud room. An updated kitchen counter top and stove would really improve the inside ambiance. Being grandparents we have to advise that the floor heater gets very hot and the stair rungs are not necessarily toddler safe (IMHO). The cabin is in a nice, quite forested neighborhood. The location was perfect for hikes and local outdoor activities.
Large deck and view are fabulous. House is rustic, cozy and quite compact. Very small kitchen but works for a couple of people. Likewise the downstairs bathroom is really just a toilet, with a vanity and sink in an alcove right in the entryway. There is a full bathroom upstairs. This is manageable for a couple of people but I would not recommend it for a large group. There are 3 beds crowded into the upstairs bedrm which made it almost impossible to walk around. However, with only two of us, the cabin was perfect and my dog loved loved the close access to trails and the lake. I hope to stay there again
A Wonderful Weekend Getaway!
I'm so surprised that this place isn't filled with great reviews. Perhaps it is new to the market? Anyway, I came here with my husband, mom, and 2-year old daughter for Thanksgiving weekend and we had such a pleasant stay! The view is incredible and it was just perfect for a cozy, relaxed, not-jam-packed weekend. The fireplace added a lovely ambiance. The deck is spacious, the beds and couches are cozy and the place is clean. The kitchen could use some updating (but totally reasonable for the rental cost). We were also pleasantly surprised to find lots of odds and ends for our toddler to play with. There was a bin full of toys and lots of games and puzzles in the drawers under the TV.
Just to note - if you're sensitive to dry air, I recommend bringing a humidifier.
Thank you for a lovely stay!
Bed bugs BITE!!!
As much as it disappoints me to write this review... our great trip to Tahoe has now been overshadowed due to the fact that my husband and I came home with bed bugs. Our vacation to get away, escape and unwind only caused additional, unneeded stress and frustrations.
Regarding the house itself - it was just as pictured, however the gas for the outdoor grill was totally empty (management did refill on day 2 of our stay) and the outdoor deck was extremely unsafe. I would not recommend having more than two people on at a time as it was shaky and very unsturdy.
The location was great, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood with a beautiful view of the lake... but my husband and I will most likely never trust using VRBO again after this experience.
We wanted to reach out and let you know how very sorry we are that you did not enjoy your stay here in Tahoe. Your vacation was meant to be relaxing, but instead you had to deal with the inconveniences of bed bugs. Please accept my sincere apology on behalf of the company and the homeowners.
We had Paragon Pest Control do a house check this past weekend, but they were unable to identify any bed bugs. I spoke with the housekeepers and they did not see any signs of bed bugs. I also contacted the guests who stayed before and after you, and fortunately they haven’t observed any symptoms. We were brainstorming today and thought maybe you both had an allergic reaction to the new bedding because it was purchased right before your arrival and was not washed after being removed from the packaging. We did not hear of any other cases of this, so it is just a theory. Hopefully we can contain the incident and there will be no further cases at this home.
We feel lucky here in Tahoe because the altitude significantly reduces the chance of bed bugs, but sometimes these things happen.. Once again, I’m sorry you and your husband did not have a positive experience and that this happened in one of our properties. We are working hard to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
We really hope to see you back here again! Please contact us when you start planning your next Lake Tahoe vacation, and we will do whatever we can to make your trip enjoyable and stress free.
All the best,
