It was a wonderful stay. Authentic, familiar, relaxing and always helpful tips. The owners are very friendly and the conversations are pleasant! We would love to come back and thank you for this wonderful time!
The property met our requirements for a really memorable holiday- sunshine and huge additional warmth from our kind and knowledgeable hosts, Peter and Debbie.
Two weeks gave us chance to explore this interesting country, the property is well sited to access many of lovely old and picturesque coastal towns but was always good to get back to our comfortable base and the lovely pool.
We enjoyed our stay . Location is good and lots of interest within an hours drive
Pool is large and very clean. Lovely view of sunset and Swifts dipping and diving
Not as private as we expected but it didn’t prove a problem.
Clean , tidy and spacious inside . No double bed sadly but effective shower and all amenities you could require
Great house that the photos don't do justice. The swimming pool was great and the location was perfect if you want to explore the black sea coast. But the best bit is the customer service provided by the hostsv who live next door. Great welcome and knowledgeable about the area. Asking if we needed anything before we arrived and let's you borrow speakers and umbrellas for the beach. They even gave my daughter some nail polish. Perfect stay and 11 out of 10 for customer service.
This is such a lovely property and the owners Peter and Debbie are so kind, friendly and helpful in every way. The property itself is basically split into two levels. Upstairs you have the bedrooms and the w/c shower and downstairs you have the kitchen and living area all of which are more than you could need and very clean, but the real gem of the property is the pool area. The pool is huge and surrounded by chairs, loungers and parasols and everything you could possibly want. Peter and Debbie are so friendly, helpful and full of advice such as place’s to eat and visit. We loved Kraymorie, there are some lovely eating places there but we absolutely loved Marinka itself, the people are so friendly and helpful with the language. If you do visit pop into the cafe with the umbrellas and say hello to Gratzi and Nicky the owners from us. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your home Peter And Debbie. Big kiss to monty.
We stayed with Peter and Debbie for 9 nights in August and cannot recommend them highly enough as kind, accommodating, helpful and generous hosts. They gave us lots of helpful advice, were very tolerant of our inquisitive kids - even taking them out for walks with their dog regularly and were always willing to lend us things to help make our stay and day trips out more comfortable.
The house itself is also lovely. Some may find it a little small inside for five people, but the low ceilings only add to the character and there was still seating for five to eat inside and plenty of sleeping space! There is also tons of space outside with two seating areas and lots of room by the pool so it wasn’t a problem for us. The pool is beautiful too!
The house is perfectly located for what we were looking for - a short drive from so many fantastic beaches, far enough from the really built up tourist areas of Sunny Beach and Nessebar but still in an area with plenty to do alongside a good mix of local day to day Bulgarian life. We still found a few nice tavernas inland that seemed to be more frequently used by locals with great Bulgarian food, but the beach bars also served great food and drink and mostly had a fab atmosphere.
If you’re looking for a holiday close to the beach but away from the large scale tourism and internationa” tourists, with Debbie and Peter onsite to offer help and advice (but never intrude) then this is the place for you. Do not hesitate, book it!
We had good communication with Peter the owner prior to arrival and the absolute bonus of a brand new swimming pool which must be 10m x 5m in size.
We were met at the airport by Peyo who transported us to Marinka and showed us around the property. He gave us his number in case of any problems or questions. We had no need to other than to liaise about pick up time for the flight home.
Peter had arranged for a local family car hire firm to deliver a car to the house and the lovely Bianka and her husband arrived on time and gave us tips on the locale .
The following day Kevin who was looking after the pool and providing a mid holiday change of linen and towels arrived.
He was very helpful and unobtrusive and even invited us to an international beach rugby tournament the following day in Burgas.
He was very helpful in advising restaurants trips out etc.
The property is well maintained, spacious and had every amenity you needed for a comfortable stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed Viktorias local bistro / restaurant excellent food service and value for money eg our 2 course meal with wine and beer cost around £16 !
Marinka is a 15 minute trip from Burgas and 5 minutes from Kraymorie beach and whilst you can get all your provisions in Marinka there are supermarkets 10 minutes away in Medlin.
So if you enjoy watching swallows swooping for water out of the pool or storks flying overhead whilst soaking up the sun this is the property for you .
So thank you Peter for the thoughtful welcome basket of food and drink and pass on our thanks to your ( and now our ) Bulgarian friends especially Kevin .
We hope to be back!

Not for us
This sort of holiday was not for us. The hosts was aware of this. We was a little further out than we like. No local bus timetable for Marinka. We like having a walk in the evening but not possible here. Had to get a taxi to and from the property every evening. As to the house, we expected our hosts to live next-door, not sharing the same grounds. This isn't clear in the description. Having stairs on the outside also didn't work. Needed a mini fridge upstairs. There is nothing in Marinka, Went burgas every evening and sometimes we took a bus from there to other places like Sozopol which is a must, beautiful place. We struggled to feel welcome at some places in Bulgara, English isn't spoken well by everyone. We tried to make the most of our holiday but will feel cautious in the future to double check the property privacy and location as these our important to us. The hosts Peter and Debbie are great but we like being alone and sometimes felt like we were sharing our holiday. Thankyou to Peyo( taxi driver) as without him we wouldn't of been able to get anywere. Peter did offer to take us places but again not comfortable with this. It's not his job to take the holiday makers places. If your ok sharing your grounds and being isolated by location then this place is for you. Pool is gorgeous, loved being there every day, just the evenings wasn't as expected.
Thankyou for us stay, don’t mean to sound harsh just truthful.

Sorry that our village house wasn’t for you. We do make it clear in our description that the house is traditional and in a village. Bulgarian houses often have the stairs outside this is from years gone by when families kept their animal downstairs and lived upstairs, we wanted to keep this feature as feel it’s part of the traditional village style property.
We have thought about having a mini fridge upstairs but most families, when we have asked about facilities, say that they don’t eat in the bedrooms and prefer to eat in the garden area or in the kitchen and discourage children from eating in their beds (which we agree with in terms of keeping our property clean). I know that you were very clean and tidy in the house and this wouldn’t have been an issue but families with younger children didn’t want this extra problem.
We do need been around the property some of the time in order to maintain the garden and pool apart from this we keep ourselves to ourselves other than saying hello and asking how things are going when doing the maintenance.
It’s a shame that you didn’t take the opportunity to explore the village especially as you say that you like to take walks. Theres’s countryside all around with wildlife and vegetation to see and exploring the village itself you would see many different shops, meet residents who are very friendly (many residents in Bulgaria speak English but their language is Bulgarian). You may see goats, chickens, ducks, geese and even the odd donkey in some of the residents’ gardens. Marinka is the most sort after village in the area but there are no modern restaurants or bright lights like a city this is why people love it so much. Theres a café and a pizza takeaway. As you found out there are lots of lovely places to see and restaurants to eat at if you go further afield.
There are buses in the village as we said. Sadly, they change the timetable regularly and we advised that it wouldn’t be pleasant waiting for a bus in the hot sun. We made a genuine offer to take you in our car to different places as we have done for other guests who don’t hire a car. I’m glad you found Peyo to be great, we have known him for many years so more than happy to introduce his taxi service to our guests.
I’m sorry that this sort of holiday wasn’t for you. I think maybe somewhere more touristy or a city would have suited you better. I’m glad you enjoyed the pool, everyone does, including us when we have no guests.
A great house and pool, near to lots of amenities and sights. Everything you need is here, and the hosts are very friendly and accommodating. We had a very good stay here, and would definitely recommend it. We found hiring a car us the best way to get around.
If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday, this is the place for you. We stayed there with our children for 2 weeks and enjoyed every day. Peter and Debbie are amazing hosts. The old town and the Harmanite Beach of Sozopol are worth a visit. All in all it was more than perfect for us.
We will definitely see each other again.

We felt very sad that you thought our holiday home was worth only 3 stars. We thought that you were lovely guests who would visit again. Maybe we were not what you were looking for. As the information says the house is traditional Bulgarian i.e. it has beautiful oak beams throughout the downstairs and for the bedrooms you go upstairs via an external staircase. Upstairs is light and airy (so light you requested additional blackout fabric as well as the lined curtains). The house is well furnished with everything and more not at all spartan (other guests have commented on how well equipped the house is) I'm not sure what was missing. There are twin beds in both bedrooms as the information states, this gives flexibility to all of our guests, some are friends who may not want to share a bed. We push the beds together for couples who prefer this. The house is in a prosperous village, not a town, with many shops, more than most villages in Bulgaria and the front is on a main road but not so busy that the goats use it every day. And dogs bark as they do in most countries, especially in the hot weather when they are outside. The back garden with the pool is very peaceful overlooking the countryside
We were on site in a separate house, this was because we had been unable to travel back to the UK, we have a motor home which we could have used to give you more privacy but you said this wasn't necessary and even said it was ok to swim in the pool whilst you were using it. (we didnt of course as we respect the privacy of all of our guests). As we were on site we were able to babysit for your children at your request. giving you an evening out together. Your son was asleep and your daughter was an absolute joy. We were also on hand to give you advice on places to visit and local amenities
Maybe this isn't the type of holiday that you are used to, however, we enjoyed your company and you were fantastic guests which makes it even more disappointing that you gave only 3 stars which will impact our average ratings and future bookings

Overall all good! Swimming pool is nice. People of Marinka soft and friendly. All food minimarkets on the same street. Close to the beach. Lot of places for fishing. Burgass is 15 min. away! But you need to have a car! Probably will go same place again! Thanks, Peter!

Charming and very comfortable country house, close to the airport and beaches
We had a lovely, relaxing time here and made full use of the garden seating area and excellent barbecue facilities. The two bedrooms are comfortable, pleasant, and fully air-conditioned. The kitchen and living room also provided all the necessary things for cooking and entertainment during our stay.
Kramorie beach is only 5 minutes away by car, and the far end (to the north, towards Burgas) is usually very quiet. Perfect for a relaxing day at the beach. The surrounding countryside is also very pleasant, and we spent some nice afternoons exploring it by bike.
It was straightforward to rent a car (thanks to Peter, the owner, for giving us the contact of a very friendly, helpful, family-run car rental company) and the airport transfer also went very smoothly.
All in all, if you are looking for a week or two of peace and quiet, enjoy spending time outdoors, and are attracted by Bulgaria's summer climate and very reasonable prices (e.g. a decent meal for 4 people, including drinks, usually cost us between 20-30 euros in the local restaurants), then this would be an ideal place to stay.

Dear Greg,
Thank you for your kind review. We are glad you had a good time and enjoyed the house. We have always loved the position, the house being so close to the Sea, City and the airport. Marinka being a traditional Bulgarian village means you get the authentic Bulgarian experience, with the lovely views over the valley from the back garden. There is nothing better than to sit in the back garden with a glass of wine a chicken cooking in the BBQ and watch the sun set.

A real alternative to a package at Sunny Beach
Overall your place has a lovely rustic appeal and offers great value for a relaxed stay. I certainly recommend it to others. We appreciated the starter kit of food and drink. The bedrooms are great and it fantastic that four can be comfortably accommodated at such a price.
You will probably need a hire car to get the most of the local area. Fortunately driving in Bulgaria is straightforward and vehicles are cheap to rent. It is a great base to explore the local region, with several great beaches pretty close. The nearest large town, Bourgas, is largely overlooked by tourists from Western Europe, which is amazing as it is a fantastic town.
If you want a real alternative to a cheap package deal at Sunny Beach, this is it.

About the host
Hosted by Bulgarian Charm
We have had the house in Bulgaria for about 12 years and have fallen in love with the country, its people and relaxed style of life. Over the years we have discovered may great things to do and we now enjoy helping others to discover this unique land and the wonderful things there are to do. From fishing in great private lakes with carp up to 25 kilos. Discover the unique eco nature reserve with its wildlife. Great wines to be tasted at the many vineyards on the coats. Walking or perhaps drawing in the Stranja Mountains. Explore for yourself or use our 'man on the ground' who can show you around or arrange any activity you may want. As we have been coming to Bulgaria for many years we have made lots of local contacts who are happy to pass on their knowledge. If some of the family want to fish and others go shopping in the city or go to the water park you only have to ask. Visit the Castle at Ravadinovo, the most amazing fantasy castle which plays host to the biggest and best waterpark on the Black Sea Coast. We love to explore are the miles of sandy beaches, the closest is just five minutes away, one of us can be found having a paddle in the even mid winter! Our guests enjoy the long hot sunny days visiting beaches with the blue waters of the black sea. We have met a local family with car hire company who will give you a discount on car hire, so you can explore the Stranja, the Turkish border and along to the coast visit Promorsko, Kitten, Sozopol and Sunny Beach. Given the time we just relax in the garden, a chicken cooking in the back oven of the BBQ, reading and enjoying the local wine .We love the new pool as do our guests It gets lots of use both to cool off during the day and as its lit in the evening we can enjoy those late night swims. We can have as much excitement or peace and quiet as we want. So if you fall in love in Bulgaria we even organise weddings to both the Castle at Ravadinovo or the beach club at the Amaya Beach Club
Why they chose this property
The house at Marinka is in the perfect location, 25 minutes from the airport. Just 5 minutes from the beach at Kraimorie. with many great restaurants, ask us which ones are the best. This is on the edge of the Eco Nature Reserve with the nature center at Poda just 2 minutes away. The city of Burgas is only fifteen minutes away with nightlife, Bars, Casinos, Restaurants, Cosmopolitan Shops. There are several water parks within 30 minutes. The village of Marinka has, Bars, a cafe, Clay Pigeon Shooting, and in the next village Kayak Safaris. The shops in the village sell everything you need, are within very easy walking distance. The residents in the village are friendly and welcoming to us and our guests Our secluded gardens and pool overlook the countryside. There are regular buses and taxis which are easily found. Marinka is a great base for exploring
What makes this property unique
The house is of traditional Bulgarian style and detached house. It is away from the usual tourists destinations for those who want to get away from the stereotypical holiday The house is fully furnished with Bulgarian furnishings, it sleeps 4 with an additional 'z' bed and bed setee so could sleep 7. There is also a travel cot for babies There are many rustic original features, exposed beans and a original wood oven in the kitchen. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower and WC upstairs and down stairs a dining kitchen, lounge with a double sofa bed, and a WC. The kitchen has a cooker, microwave, radio/CD Player, fridge, wood burner (for the winter), and a kettle etc. There is a laundry room for those that are visiting for a little longer. The lounge has a large Flat Screen TV, WIFI, Cable TV, Internet TV, DVD Player. There are plenty of DVDs and books. We also have great local contacts for hair dressers, yoga teacher and massage therapist and I am happy to run craft workshops We have a small bungalow next door to the house. This ensures that the pool is monitored and cleaned, the garden is watered and we are available to give advice and information on places to visit and local events. We respect our guests privacy and keep out of the way.. Our guests all say how much they appreciate us being on hand
