We had a lovely stay at the Bakery whilst competing in an off-road rally. The gite has all the facilities and equipment you need to make for an enjoyable time away, especially when the log burner is lit! We would highly recommend this gite for families or groups of friends as there’s both communal and private space. We’ll be back!
Lovely house very well equiped . Have stayed here before and would go back again.
Good all round . Karen the manager was very helpful. House is in lovely peacful location .

Comme ci, comme ca
We found the property to be in a poor state of repair in a number of areas and the standard of cleanliness left sometjng to be desired. Otherwise, The Old Bakery has plenty of aged character and is srt in a very quiet location.

Beautiful period property in quiet rural setting
Enjoyed a lovely week here in July. Property was a little dusty on arrival, but being over a hundred years old this is to be expected. Everything in terms of equipment in the property has been taken care of, from vacuum cleaner to modern washing machine to more plates and pans than even the most adventurous cook could require!
The house is within the sleepy village of Embry which is very convenient for travelling to the coast (le Touquet - 40 mins) or the beautiful old towns in the area (e.g. Montreuil - 20 mins)
We had 3 under 5s with us and found plenty to keep them occupied. For example there is a lovely goat farm, (5 mins away by car), la Halte d'Autrefois, where the owner happily showed us the goats, chickens and kittens! They also sell a very soft and subtle goats cheese which is mild enough even for non goats cheese lovers!
An excellent property which I would highly recommend for a group who like a quiet (no phone signal), equipped (wifi, TV, DVD, games, great kitchen) and pretty house to get away from it all within an hour of Calais.

at Awesome! Situated in the 7 valleys so peaceful
I am actually going back again to the Bakery next week having stayed there previously in June as my first experience was out of this world.
I have never stayed in a place where everything is to hand and I mean everything, Sarah - the owner - has thought things through to the bitter end, such a homely environment. Last time it was the summer and this time I am looking forward to sitting by the fire and experiencing the winter at the Bakery.
It is so easy to travel too, literally one hour from the tunnel and has so many rooms that a group of you can go and not Be on top of each other.
It was for me, complete paradise and I have to admit it takes me a while to unwind normally but The Bakery has a wonderful feel about it that immediately relaxes you.
I highly recommend The Bakery, it is peaceful, beautiful and so spacious. The decor is gorgeous and the games room has every game you can possibly think of; so well equipt.
So well thought out and such an awesome experience, you really must go you will not be disappointed, highly recommended.

Paradise!
We arrived on Friday for a long weekend. Under an hour from the tunnel, yet set in the most picturesque rural France. Everything was ready for us, all we had to do was a short stop at the supermarket, drop our bags and the holiday began. The kitchen is well stocked with every condiment, teas, coffees etc. No need to head back out to get all those little things that are generally missing from a holiday rental. The house itself is large, and would comfortably sleep 12. The owners have renovated, yet kept all the charm and character of a typical French country building. The attention to the finer details are what make it feel like home from just stepping inside.
The setting is within beautiful grounds, and adjacent to a running stream to dip one's toes whilst enjoying a drink in the sunshine.
The walks, cycle rides (yes, even bicycles are provided!) through breath taking scenery are second to none. We had barbecues every night on the terrace.
I would recommend this venue for large groups, for walking holidays, cycle clubs to make their base, families who want to relax and spend time together, or just a group of friends who wish to chill, laugh, eat, drink and enjoy this little piece of heaven.
We shall be back, and have already booked our Autumn break! Thank you!!

Winter weekend break
We have stayed at The Bakery twice this winter - and both times it has been a wonderful place to spend the weekend. The house is warm - especially with the wood-burner in the dining room - which makes it a perfect place to relax around the table with friends. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious - so preparing food for a crowd is easy. The beds are comfortable, and there are loads of warm duvets and throws to make everything cosy. During the day we enjoyed healthy walks in the lovely countryside around the village. On Saturday we drove to nearby Montreuil - buying up produce from local producers in the market, and the cheese shop, and stocking up with wine from the Wine Society. We hope to return again later in the year.

The Bakery
Ten of us had a wonderful week at the Bakery. A lovely sunny, well proportioned house within the beautiful 7 valleys; a revelation to us and so near the Tunnel but another world and very friendly locals. We really appreciated the incredibly well stocked kitchen (thoughtfully including bags, foil, cling film and lots of tea towels) and the goodies left us – what a treat. We had lovely meals on the sunny patio and it was so lovely eating all together on the long table with the woodburner glowing away. We had comfy beds, nice clean linen and good hot showers always when we needed them. We loved the bicycles and used them most days cycling a couple of times to the tiny cafe up the road. We went on walks, did our runs. We ate out at Le Touquet which was a fun trip out and we particularly liked Hesdin which is a lovely small town with a river running through. We had a nice meal there at the Globe and went back for the Thursday market and to busk and dance outside the restaurant on the invitation of the owner Karen. Lots we could have done including going to the beautiful forests in the area but ran out of time.
Karen who looks after things at the Bakery was very nice and extremely helpful. We didn't need to call her during the week but felt we could have done if needed.

Loads of space
Great dealing with Damien in UK. Six adults - two tall teenagers- two children and one dog found plenty of space in this rustic old bakery with super fast WiFi. Great selection of bikes to borrow. 20-30 mins away from a host of amenities. Downstairs furnishing and beds comfy. Thanks.

A fantastic week in France
With only three of us staying in the house there was obviously plenty of room and it is very comfortably appointed with plenty of toys, games and DVDs. But it wouldn't have felt crowded with double that number or more. The Seven Valleys is an area we usually fly past on the motorway but it is a beautiful and relaxing area which we'll be coming back to - especially as it's just 45 minutes from the Tunnel. Plenty of places to go for a quiet walk or cycle straight from the house and you're only 25-30 minutes away from the fantastic beaches at Le Touquet. We also explored some of the local (within 30-60 min drive) WW1 and WW2 sites - Vimy Ridge and Le Coupole well worth a visit. Also a very easy drive to Nausica for the only grey/wet day we had all week. Dealing with Damian (and Karen on the French side) was easy and they're both very focused on making sure you enjoy this lovely holiday property. We'll be back!

A perfect place to chill out...
I chose this house because it was ideally located for us to see three stages of the Tour de France. Damian was helpful and friendly from my first contact with him and the English couple who look after the house for them were equally nice and very welcoming.
The house was clean, well equipped and spacious yet felt cosy at the same time. There was plenty of information available about the local area, amenities and tourist attractions. We loved being able to play pool and air hockey upstairs especially as there is plenty of space for those who are not playing to sit and chat/watch. This property is full of character and original features which add to its charm and because of the extremely peaceful location you can't fail to immediately relax - you rarely see a vehicle. We really enjoyed sitting together around the huge table in the dining room just off the kitchen which which was equipped with everything we might need. The garden is beautiful, full of lovely shrubs and fruit trees with plenty of space for playing games, sunbathing or just relaxing with a glass or wine or a G&T on the raised patio area. We used the outside space most days for a BBQ which was great.
The local scenery is just stunning, perfect for walking and cycling and in fact there is a lovely stream/river, L'Embrienne, which runs parallel with the property and which you can follow as you cycle or walk. The roads are so quiet and in such good condition that you feel incredibly safe on a bike which is great if you lack confidence or have children in your party. We took our own bikes with us but there are plenty to borrow from the garage which is excellent. Le Touquet is definitely worth a trip, lots of interesting shops, great cafes and restaurants and a lovely beach.
I was lucky enough to go back this June having recommended it to a friend for her birthday celebrations and had an equally wonderful time. Despite there being twice as many of us we never felt crowded - it was definitely a case of the more the merrier as we didn't stop laughing. We fell in love with this house from the minute we arrived and did not want to leave, we all have such happy memories of our time spent there.
We'll definitely be booking again and I do hope this glowing review doesn't make that difficult for me! If this house were to come up for sale I can honestly say that I wouldn't think twice about trying to buy it.
PS. I am particularly fond of the local cats and the donkeys up the road are very friendly!

The bike rides suited all abilities .
My dealings with both the owners and the couple who welcomed us were friendly and very helpful.
There were 12 in our party and everyone just wants to return.

Little Gem
Fantastic holiday home. Perfect location, just in the middle of everything we wanted to see without being too far. Lovely quiet location, easy to access and plenty of local walks. Roads are amazingly quiet and everyone commented on how easy it was driving in France and finding the holiday home.
A family holiday with 10 adults and 3 children and we had more than enough space without being on top of each other. Brilliant dining and patio areas, perfect for BBQ and family meals.
Communication with both Property Owner and Property Manager was spot on, clear and concise and extremely helpful.
Facilities at the home were excellent. Lots of play things and toys on site to keep little ones occupied. The Pool Table went down a treat.
Hubby was impressed with wi-fi and couldn't comment enough on the speed. Kids happy with TV and DVD selection.
Lots of local supermarkets within a short drive, inc bakeries which were delicious. Wine is superb value, even the 3 euro bottles, which meant some lovely evenings on the patio watching the sunset.
Le Touquet is beautiful and we spent a lot of time here. Stretches of golden sand and was never too packed. Some fabulous restaurants here and we saw 3 or 4 circus'es as we drove about different locations.
Aquarium at Boulogne is brilliant, spent several hours there and thoroughly enjoyed the Sea Lion Show. Le Couple Rocket Base was another excellent find and well worth a trip.
We had such an epic holiday that we are now talking about it becoming an annual trend and we would certainly be interested in renting this holiday home again in future.
Easy to get to via the tunnel or ferry.
Thank you for an amazing stay.
Tip: if you have clubcard points with Tesco, you can trade these in for tunnel return ticket, making crossing great value.

A very well decorated house in the countryside. A good mix between the charm of traditionnal house and practical side of modernity. Excellent for families. Great kitchen with all necessary kitchen tools. Great playroom with billard, TV and a lot of DVD. Sarah is a very kind and helpfull person. The house is easy to find because Sarah sent us all the informations to find it a few days before our arrival. We will come back with pleasure! Do not hesitate to book a week-end in this charming house! You will be probably charmed like us.
Thank you Sarah for everything!
La location est conforme à l’annonce. Par contre pas de réseau.
