Stonehouse is a Caribbean Style private house located on waterfront property in a quiet residential walking neighborhood smack dab in the most convenient vacation areas on the East End of St. Thomas, conveniently located just a half-mile walk to the public beach at Secret Harbor and Red Hook.

Stonehouse offers 3 vacation rental apartments, all with a fantastic unobstructed view of Secret Harbor and the Caribbean Sea. The apartments all have private entrances, decks and are fully equipped including linens, beach towels, beach chairs and coolers, 100mbps high speed Wifi with a back up whole house generator.

Unforgettable!!! We love Stonehouse!!

We loved our stay at Stonehouse so much!! The pictures do not do this place justice. The view was breathtaking! Perfect location and a safe neighborhood. The walk to the beach was very nice. Joanie and Robert were so sweet and very good at communicating with us during our entire trip. The bed was very comfortable and the AC in the house was very nice. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our honeymoon and we are looking forward to returning to this location again one day!

Best view ever!

We could have lived on that balcony! The place was wonderful and so was Joanie! We enjoyed are daily walk down the hill to Secret Harbour and loved eating at Sunset Grill for breakfast or dinner. They have paddle boards, or kayaks to rent there and the snorkeling was amazing! Make sure you take the ferry to St John! Will definitely recommend this spot to my friends!

Beautiful views!!

Great place to stay and walking distance to Secret Harbour, which has a great bar/restaurant. Easy walk down, not as easy to walk back up the hill but we did to save on taxis. Beautiful relaxing balcony with amazing views. We were welcomed with open arms and Joanie even took us to the grocery store when we got there which was very nice! Very private and calm area but just a few minute taxi ride away to red hook. Also loved that we could come and go as we please with private entrance without disturbing the homeowners. Highly recommend

Stunning view of the Islands

This was our 1st time to St. Thomas. Upon arrival we were in awe of the view that this cute little place provides. Everything was clean and the place was very well stocked. We enjoyed the cooler bag that was provided for packing up food and drinks for our beach excursions. My husband grilled some awesome steaks right outside on the grill that's provided. You're within a 8-10 minute walk to the Secret Harbor Beach where you can enjoy Sunset Grille, the beach, snorkeling (owner provided equip), and drinks from the Bar. You'll need a taxi to get everywhere else around the island. The hosts were very helpful in guiding us on things to see and do. We really appreciated the ride to the grocery, thanks Joanie! We had a great time!

St.Thomas Getaway!!!

Such a beautiful and peaceful location this was!!! Joanie was an amazing host who communicated with me throughout the entire trip. She went above and beyond to make sure the stay was pleasant and that view!!!!!! Oh my goodness…I could not have had a better time if I tried. The location is a walk away from Sunset Grille and Secret Cove beach and very quiet but close to everything with a quick call to one of the island taxi services. The apartment was perfect and cozy for a couple or even a few friends. You will NOT be disappointed booking with her.

The perfect place to stay!

We stayed here for our wedding week and everything was absolutely perfect! The Sunflower unit was spacious, clean and has an absolutly stunning view. The hosts are so incredibly kind and accommodating. The property is close to so many great restaurants and all the best nightlife on island, we would highly recommend the Stone House!

Beautiful Oasis!

Our stay with Robert and Joanie was amazing! They were fantastic hosts who went above and beyond to help make our trip memorable. All the little details like beach coolers, snorkel gear, insect repellant, beach chairs, and even reusable shopping bags were so helpful to have daily! The views from this private oasis can’t be beat, the bed was very comfortable, and the location was perfect for its proximity to Secret Harbor (loved snorkeling at this beach), grocery stores, ferry and Red Hook.

Great place for our vacation trip

We had a great time here. It is small; one room kitchen area and bed, and a bathroom/shower. But for the two of us just fine. Kitchen had all the conveniences you need, the bed was comfortable, and the apartment was very nicely and tastefully furbished. Outdoor gas grill. The view from the balcony was just unbeatable. We enjoyed having breakfast and dinner there. Location was great. Super quiet neighborhood. Short walk down the hill on a quiet street to get to Secret Harbor Beach, with some of the best snorkeling on the island and a very nice restaurant. A food market is just a 5 minute drive away. We didn't go to any of the many restaurants in Red Hook, but they're also only 5 minutes away. The owners were super nice, sent us all sorts of useful info before we arrived and were there to greet us on arrival. We wouldn't hesitate to make this our home base again on a future trip to St Thomas

our perfect little paradise!

My husband and I stayed at Sunflower for about a week, and we had the most perfect time. The studio apartment is exactly as pictured, and the views are just as unbelievable. Joanie was such an amazing host, and was incredibly fast in responding with any questions. Our taxi driver from the airport was having trouble finding Stonehouse, and the taxi driver called Joanie and she talked him through exactly where to go. You couldn't have a more responsive and kind host!! The studio apartment was the perfect size for two people. We were able to cook breakfast and grill out. The patio is definitely the best part- we spent most of our time lounging out there. One thing to note- the mosquitos and ants are very present. I would recommend bringing your own bug spray (we bought some down at the dive shop) because we were eaten up after the first night. There are a lot of ants, so you have to be really intentional about cleaning plates well and keeping all food in the fridgte, not on the counter. The walk to the beach is so easy and fast. You have to walk uphill on the way back, but it just takes 5 minutes. The snorkeling is amazing. The dive shop right at the beach is amazing. and the bar/restauarant right on the beach is amazing. You have all that you need, and then redhook is a quick taxi for more food/bars and the ferry to St. John. I was a little nervous booking a place so far away without knowing much, but it was such a great decision, and we can't wait to come back!

Great Host, Nice View

Joanie is fantastic. Unfortunately, the week we arrived the area was facing an unusual extreme heat wave. The AC wasn’t working, and had to book elsewhere. Joanie helped and assisted us with that. You couldn’t ask for a better host and person who understands your needs and to make things right.

Perfect stay!

My husband and I loved our stay at Joan’s! She was extremely helpful and communicative, made it easy for us to help the taxi drivers find the property, and even (very kindly!) took us to get some groceries on our first night. The property itself is lovely, the views are out of control. Also the location is great - a 8 min walk to Secret Harbour, which was a perfectly calm beach with a great bar and restaurant. Also very quick to Red Hook Harbor so that we could easily hop on the ferry to St. John. 11/10!!!

Paradise

We had such a wonderful time at this property. Joanie was great. She met us when we got there and gave us a ride to the grocery store. The view is the best view at any place I've ever stayed. The secret Harbour beach ,which is a 10 minute walk, is so pretty. Great snorkeling and not very busy. Sunset bar and grill has good food at reasonable prices and a beautiful view while eating. If you walk back from secret Harbour, it's straight up but it's doable and helps with the guilt of eating too much. I would definitely recommend this property. So beautiful and quiet.

Paradise cove

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we loved it. Joanie and her husband are very friendly and helpful. They left a detailed binder with instructions, places to go and services she recommended. She was easy to get a hold of and even provided beach gear! We were only a few minutes from everything in town. The place was easy to get to but still private and secluded which was what we liked about it. We will definitely stay again when we come back with our family. :)

Amazing views

We enjoyed our stay at the Sunflower apartment. Beautiful views! Everything we could possibly want/need was provided in the kitchen and for beach play. We used the snorkels and beach chairs every day. Pictures are spot on for VRBO. Nice short walk to Secret Harbor. Sunset Grille at Secret Harbor was nice for breakfast!

Saint Thomas Paradise

Joanie and Robert were amazing hosts. They even offered to drive us to the local market to pick up supplies if we didn’t rent a car. The balcony view of the Caribbean is spectacular. The location is just minutes from Red Hook/ferry docks with many shops and restaurants. I would recommend Renting a car from Country auto rental to explore the island. We would definitely stay here again.

Stay local.. Stay Stonehouse! Robert and Joanie deLugo the owners, have lived at Stonehouse since 1982 and purchased it in 1996. Robert was born on St. Thomas and met Joanie when she moved to the islands in 1981. They have been welcoming vacation travelers at Stonehouse since 2005.

Roberts family dates back many years in Virgin Islands history, his father was the first U.S. Post Master general for the Virgin Islands and the main U.S.Post Office in Charlotte Amalie, Alvaro deLugo U.S. Post Office is named after him. Joanie is originally from Canada and Cape Cod, Massachusetts and relocated to St. Thomas after college in Nova Scotia in 1981.

Robert and Joanie both have extensive professional backgrounds in the Virgin Islands tourism industry. Robert has worked in the Virgin Islands aviation business since the 1970's. First with a seaplane company Antilles Airboats, which was operated by the actress Maureen O'Hara and her aviator husband Charlie Blair, then with Pam Am Airways and most recently with Delta Airlines as the V.I. Station Manager from 1994 until early retirement 2012.

Since relocating to the Virgin Islands Joanie has enjoyed many years crewing on charter yachts sailing around the British Virgin Islands, managing a marina and charter yacht center in Red Hook and 12 years as the local representative for Apple Vacations, an international travel company. When not working Joanie and Robert enjoy traveling to Chile, Argentina, Paris and Cape Cod.

They welcome you to the Virgin Islands so they can share their local expertise on some of the better things to see and do in the islands. They reside on the property and will check you in when you arrive, answer any questions and help you out with anything you need during your stay.
