Located on a magical hill surrounded by centuries-old oaks, two kilometers from the fishing village of Lekeitio and overlooking the Bay of Biscay.
The house has a living room-dining room-open kitchen and two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor. On the second floor there is a mezzanine bedroom and a bathroom. Outside it enjoys a south-facing terrace overlooking the mountains of Lea-Artibai.

It is a perfect place for a family or group of friends who wants to enjoy nature (sea and mountains) and to discover the charms of Euskal Herria.

Old Basque country school completely rehabilitated in 2017. Located on a magical hill surrounded by centenarian evergreen oaks, only two kilometers away from the fishing village of Lekeitio and overlooking the Gulf of Biscay.
The house has an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room and two bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor. And on the first floor a mezzanine, a bedroom and a bathroom. It has a south-facing terrace overlooking the Lea-Artibai Mountains.
This is a perfect place for a family or group of friends who want to enjoy nature (sea and mountain) and discover the treasures of the Basque Country.

Delightful old school house with lovely views. Just away from the bustle but an easy walk/drive to Lekeitio. Parking space in Lekeitio can be difficult to find, but the free car parks on the edge of town work well. Very sociable sitting room as in same high ceilinged room as kitchen. Perfect for 6 people. A 7th can sleep on the mezzanine bed so not private from the sitting room. Lekeitio great for beaches.

A great spot for a holiday!

Loved the rebuilt one room school house. Great location between Bilbao and San Sebastián. Lots to do in the local area as well.

The description of the house and the location was perfect. The house is in a perfect condition and the host family is taking care about everything and gave us good ideas where to go. The ocean view from the terrass is magnificant. It is a quite place and very authentic. The house provides rooms enough for up to 7 people. Your can reach San Sebastian-Donostia, Bilbao and Santanter very good. A car is recommended. We will come for sure again to this house. The vacation were perfect!

Memorable home in Basque Country

We travelled throughout France and Spain this trip and saw and did many memorable things but this is the place I’ll dream of coming back to. Beautiful home, lots to do in the area (although I particularly loved doing nothing at all!). Anne was very welcoming and everything was easy. Don’t hesitate to book.

Great place in Lekeitio

Our family had a wonderful time. Anna and Kerman who live near the house have been very welcoming. The house has been recently renovated, is well appointed, and is very clean. Our kids age 8 to 11 enjoyed the garden very much.

Perfect stay in a wonderful part of the Basque country

We loved to stay in this charming spacious old school house. It has so much atmosphere and was extremely well equipped with really everything you might need. Fantastic choice, so glad we came

Not that this place or its hosts need more positive reviews, but I’ll happily add my voice to the choir.The place is super comfortable, with everything you need to enjoy yourself indoors or on the terrace/garden, but the village is walkable too. Actually finding some nice hiking is just as walkable, leading to amazing viewpoints and forest paths. There are many places close by that are worth visiting, but staying around the apartment is very enjoyable too!We loved everything about our visit and hope to return!

Wonderful stay in Eskola 87!

We felt directly like home in this old Basque school renovated with a combination of authenticity (wood and stone) and modernity (brand new appliances), giving a feeling of space and light even on a cloudy day. Anne was a perfect host, attentive and available when needed. We highly recommend Eskola 87 for a stay in the heart of Basque country!

Picturesque

Coming home

We loved the old school building renovated with an eye for detail and all modern comfort. The location is great, half an hour's walk from the beach. Lekeitio is a pleasant town. A wonderful base to get to know the Basque nature and culture. Anne and Kerman are very hospitable and were always available if necessary. We enjoyed our moments together...their stories and hospitality !!

Basques, beaches, beauty

We had a great stay at Anne and Keramon's beautifully converted schoolhouse. It's a great open space for a family, super clean, bbq and a cool terrace for relaxing. The location above Lekeitio, which has a great beach and loads to do, is handy for getting to lots of cool places in this part of the basque country. Finally, Anne and Keramon are great hosts, offering lots of really friendly help and advice. Go!

This is a joy of a place - 2km from the sea & surrounded by hills, coast, fishing villages & historic towns with museums & the Guggenheim, fully equipped with everything you could ask for & with Anne, who couldn't have done more.The first time we've stayed in Spain, apart from with family in Barcelona & quite one of the best cottages we've had anywhere.The Basque region is a very special place - we will definitely be returning in the not too distant future! We loved staying in this charming renovated rural school. It had lots of atmosphere and was extremely well appointed with everything you might need. Anne and her husband were very helpful and welcoming. We appreciated their efforts to consider the environment, all very thoughtful. The surrounding area offered things to interest everyone. We had a wonderful time in Lekeitio

The house is situated on small hill overlooking Lekeitio, parts of the Basque coastline and the surrounding valleys and hills - the surroundings are silent and it takes a fifteen minute walk to Lekeitio centre. The old school-house is very nicely restored and the interior, exterior and equipment lacks absolutely nothing. Anne and her partner had been warmly welcoming and helpful hosts to us. Everything has contributed to wonderful holidays on the Basque coast.

The place is fantastic. There were six of us and the beautiful house offered living space, coolness and is fully equipped. The location is great as is the view. Relax at the house, swim in the sea, have drinks and snacks in beautiful and friendly Lekeitio or take (mountain) walks. Everything within short (walking) distance. Bilbao is only an hour away. In short, a great place with very hospitable and friendly owners. Highly recommended!

Incredible underestimated location

The house itself is already nice with all furnitures. The surroundings are also beautiful and quiet. Owners are welcoming . Lekeitio itself is just incredible. Extremely authentic. 2 nice beaches. One island accessible at low tide. One clean river to cross to access one of the beach. Old city to be discovered. No cars in city center. Small harbor. Anti jet-set atmosphere. And only one hour drive from Bilbao... Wonderful for those looking for authenticity....
