About Jonathan Birnbaum
My wife, four kids and I live 40 min from the ranch in the small town of Clayton. We have enjoyed the ranch as a family retreat for years, and figured it was time to share a little with others!
Jonathan Birnbaum purchased this Cabin in 2006
Why Jonathan Birnbaum chose Hunters
We fell in love with the area when we first moved to Spokane in 2004, and this ranch has all the myriad habitats and biomes that make Eastern Washington so unique and enjoyable.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cabins are located at the fork of the N. Hunters and Moose creeks in the heart of our property, Black Horse Ranch. It's named for Black Horse Canyon that runs through the middle, and it provides incredible rock formations and views. You'll feel like your miles in the wilderness with all the comforts of home, but it's only a 15 min drive to Hunters where you can stock up and enjoy lake Roosevelt.

Great family/hunting getaway in the woods!
Very secluded location close to a quaint town. A ton of exploration to be had at this remote spot. Even though you are in the middle of nowhere, the cabins are very modern and have all the amenities. Even cell service and wifi! Great spot for families that want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and "rough it" for a change. Great spot to put the iPads and iPhones down and connect with nature. My favorite time was sitting on the back patio and listening to the fresh spring water creek at night while stargazing with zero light pollution! We saw a ton of wildlife while we were hunting for bucks! Great setup for hunters of all ages and a ton of land to traverse!
Beautiful place to relax!!
This property was such a gem. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery. My hubby got to catch trout in the pond. The cabin itself was beautiful, clean and more than we expected! This is a perfect place if you want to get away from it all and really connect with your loved ones.
Thanks Jamie! It was awesome to host you two! Hope to host you again!
Old Fashion family get away...Awesome!
We took our two young boys, their cousins and their grandfather to this ranch for some quality hunting and fishing fun. The ranch did not let us down, it rained, it snowed and the sun came out hot all in less then a few hours. The boys chased turkey around the ranch, saw several mule deer, elk and wild animals as well as catching several trout in the ponds. The cabin and bunkhouse are very clean and modern and the wood fired hot tub was a big favorite for the kids. We were only up there a few days but it felt like we had been there a week, I was so relaxed on the drive home I completely forgot about work and the kids were so tired they slept the entire ride back to Seattle! Perfect!
Lovely and cozy
Cute little cabin that was exactly what we needed for a one night stop. Very comfortable, well-heated by wood fireplace with nice cozy beds in the loft. Not hard to find thanks to the printed directions from the owner. Never saw the owner, but he was very nice, communicative by text message and even left us some treats because I mentioned we were there celebrating our anniversary :-) Has a helpful kitchenette (no stove). BYO biodegradable bath products if you like, or use the ones that the owners provide for free, to keep the local waterways healthy. The only issue some people might have is the shower (you only get 5 minutes of hot water, and have to wait 25 minutes for the full reheat cycle :-) ).
Exactly what we were looking for!!
Such a perfectly secluded spot. You'd never guess that you're off the grid, with all the amenities provided. We absolutely loved it and are definitely planning on coming back. Thanks so much for sharing your special spot with us.
My husband and I came here to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary!! We had an amazing time! It was so fun to explore the property, fish, hike, heat the hot tub and swim! I would highly recommend renting the cabins. We enjoyed the privacy :)
