We loved our stay in Villa Marques. Rui was the perfect host, super communicative and full of really useful recommendations from our first night through to departure. The property was spotlessly clean and really comfortable, perfect for us and our two teenage daughters. The aircon was very welcome in the August heat of Lisbon! Proximity to the train station in Cruz Quebrada was ideal and we liked the flexibiity of being able to quickly get to the middle of Lisbon or just take some more relaxed days locally. Rui could not have been more helpful and we were grateful to have been invited to visit him and his wife for a drink in their beautiflully renovated historic house next door. I'm not sure the house would be suitable for those with much younger children as the 2 upstairs rooms (one attic, one mezzanine) were only accessible up some very steep stairs and head height was low; however it was fine for our family and the house was perfect for us. We would certainly return.

Beautiful stay

The accomodation was beautiful and had a lot of interesting history. Rui was an excellent host - he gave us lots of brilliant recommendations and was very accommodating. He even invited us to join him for a drink and we learned about his amazing home. We would definitely stay again.

Perfect comfort & Perfect host

We filled our days with action both near and far, often made even better because of specific recommendations made by our host Rui. He thinks of everything and is wonderfully helpful! At the end of each day, the apartment was beautiful and perfectly appointed. We couldn’t recommend this spot more highly!!

Very nice place!

Very nice and comfortable place to stay in Lisbon. Rui was great and gave us plenty of tips to step up our stay. The appartment is small but was enough for our family of 5. It’s close to a train station, so it’s the best way to get downtown.

The house was a very nice find and was true to the description. Rui was always available, his tips were very helpful, and he is a marvelous host. I recommend the house and given availability and time, we will return.

Nice historic property

Overall property was nice. The apartment was newly renovated in a historic building where the old stables were. It was clean, well furnished and well stocked including a welcome bottle of wine, cookies and coffee. Close to a grocery store, train and full sevice laundry service. There was also a parking spot on the property. Our host Rui was very gracious even inviting us for drinks and showing us the rest of the property he renovated. He is very knowledgeable and can provide suggestions for places to visit as well as restaurants. Some things to note. One, the description was misleading in regards to number of bedrooms. Since there were two of us, the host was letting us use only one bedroom although the listing was for three. I had to pay extra on arrival for the use of the second room. There was nothing in the house rules or the description that specified any additional charges for the use of the other rooms. One bedroom was in a loft above the living room with a steep narrow staircase. The third one was in an attic space. The ceilings on both spaces were very low making it hard to stand up straight. Second, the listing indicated that there was a washer, however, there was no washing machine. Please note that to park on the property you have to back up through a narrow gate directly from the street. If the gate is closed, you would need to get our of the car to manually open the gate. I would recommend the property for a visit to Lisbon and surrounding areas.

Well-fitted and laid-out clean apartment

Extremely well-fitted and laid-out clean apartment with private patio, as well as opportunity to park securely right outside the front door. Host Rui de Matos is amazing (and justifiably proud of their historic, well-restored home).

Just fabulous all round

We have stayed in many holiday rentals around the world. The kindness and helpfulness of Rui was beyond compare. The little house was beautiful and immaculately presented. So so quiet at night, we slelpt so well in the comfortable bed. The local park was stunning. Train into Lisbon easy. Cant recommend this place highly enough. We look forward to returning.

Perfect location away from the crowds

We very much enjoyed staying in this local neighborhood, a short train ride from all the major sites in Lisbon. There is a grocery, meat, shop, pharmacy, and restaurants within a couple of blocks. The train station is two blocks away. Our host, Rui and his wife, Bette, were extremely helpful and kind. We had a lovely experience there, and hope to come back some day.

5 stars in all aspects

A cancellation of our reservation by another host the day before arrival left us scrambling to find another Lisbon property that could meet our requirements (Queen size bed and dedicated parking provided). Rui was very responsive and rescued us! This is a very nicely appointed, secure facility and parking behind a gate, well maintained and adorable apartment in a location that was close to public transportation. There is a very good cafe across the street. Great history of the property from Rui, as well as recommendations for anything we needed. Rui gets my nomination for best host!

Rundherum Top!

Die Beschreibung durch den Vermieter Rui trifft in allen Punkten zu. Sehr saubere Unterkunft, sehr schön eingerichtet, es fehlt an nichts. Vor allem die Lage im Vorort Cruz Quebrada, nur 5 min vom Bahnhof der Linie Cascais (Nutzung in Lisboacard enthalten), ist von Vorteil! In 15 min ist man in Lissabon (Cais de Sodre) und in 30 min im sehr schönen Badeort Cascais an der Steilküste. Direkt gegenüber gibt es zwei kleine Supermärkte mit allem was man braucht. Auch ein Bistro (Villa Cruz) und ein Restaurant (Altair) sind direkt nebenan. Besonders die Freundlichkeit, die Hilfsbereitschaft und die Ausflugstipps von Rui begeistern. Danke Rui!! Die Villa Cruz ist absolut weiter zu empfehlen, ideal für den Städtetripp nach Lissabon!

Jolie maison aux portes de Lisbonne

Nous avons séjourné 6 jours dans la maison de Rui et se fût un réel plaisir. La maison est idéalement située pour visiter Lisbonne (15 min en train) dans un secteur très calme, disposant d'un parking dans la cour intérieure. Rui est un hôte très accueillant qui fait preuve de petites attentions La maison est bien agencée et de petites attentions

Parfait

Très beau logement de qualité conforme aux photos du site. Un vrai cocon. Chambre au rdc très calme (autres pas testées). Propreté irréprochable. Climatisation bien appréciable dès que les températures commencent à grimper. A signaler, pas de lave linge mais un service de blanchisserie non opérationnel pendant la période du Covid et dont je ne connais pas les modalités. Tout le reste est présent. Le parking intérieur est un réel plus pour ceux qui viennent en voiture. On est proche des accès rapides vers Lisbonne, Sintra, Cascais,.... (Belem à 5 mn). Station de train (pas de nuisance sonore) et de bus tout à coté. Commerce (épicerie, restaurant, pharmacie) juste en face. Rui bien qu'étant indisponible pendant notre séjour est resté présent sur WathsApp pour nous renseigner. Excellent séjour.

Logement parfait pour découvrir Lisbonne et ses environs

Très beau logement avec tout le confort (à savoir, pas de lave-linge mais un service de blanchisserie non fonctionnel pendant le Covid et dont je ne connais pas les modalités). Le parking intérieur est très appréciable. Emplacement idéal (5mn de Belem et proche des voies d'accès pour Lisbonne, Sintra, Cascais,...) Très bon contact avec Rui. Pour de bonnes vacances ne cherchez plus.

Richtig schöne Unterkunft!

Die Wohnung bei Rui ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Man findet alles was man braucht und Rui ist ein sehr hilfsbereiter Gastgeber. Das großartige ist natürlich der vorhandene Parkplatz im Innenhof der Vila Marques. Unser Aufenthalt war perfekt. Vielen Dank und wir kommen gerne wieder!
