About Angi Bair
This was our family's primary residence for many years and we raised our kids here. We have now kept the home for recreational use and want to share our beautiful home with other families to enjoy as much as we have!
Angi Bair purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2000
Why Angi Bair chose Paris
I love antiques and this house is the ultimate antique. One of the most beautiful homes in the area for its time period. This house has been restored with modern conveniences yet keeps the charm and character including the gazebo front porch, grand entry with beautiful staircase, pocket doors, and antique fixtures and furnishings throughout.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
This property feels like home! It is very comfortable and spacious with tall ceilings and beautiful design. Enjoy the beautiful summer nights sitting on the front porch. Or watch the kids play in the large yard. Perfect getaway spot!

We enjoyed the stay and would go back
Family had a great time. Wished we had known more of history of the place. Two bathrooms worked with 14 including 6 children (ages 2-15). Room for air matresses and privacy for adults. We would go back. Thanks
Beautiful, clean home that I would highly recommend to others.
Beautiful home conveniently located just 10 minutes from Montpiliar for shopping and no more than 15 minutes away from the North Beach of Bear Lake. I would highly recommend this home to others.
Nice Victorian Home
Great home! We enjoyed our stay! The house was comfortable and had plenty of room. We loved playing in the backyard and our whole family had fun there. It is in a great location and made it easy for us to do the activities we had planned. Thank you!
It was great!
We all loved the house and it’s character. It accommodated us very well. We had 11 adults and 8 kids 11 and under. Would stay there again!
A great place to enjoy a retreat from life's stresses.
We brought fans, but were not needed (AC and other fans are available)! Other than the oven not heating, pretty much all went well The house became a home for the time our family was there. What has not been mentioned before is that Montpelier is about 5 minutes north. Which means a great pizza place, two full size grocery stores and the Oregon Trail Museum. The two caves were great for the family, even for the little ones , One cave has a lot of stairs, so that may be a problem for a few. The ice cave was great for the little ones. Beach is great and not far, but get there early or travel to the East side. One can rent boats even the ones you stand on. Motor boats do cost $$$ but the paddle ones are reasonable ($20 an hour or so).
Bottom line: a great place to relax, to interact with family, to play and enjoy the Idaho climate, and the topography. Would love to return again!! PS It was great that there was no cable to distract the reason for being at the home! I was happy to be rid of that influence when there was so much other great activities to enjoy!!
Overall the experience was good. I grew up in southern Idaho with family in Bear Lake and it was good to be home. I knew what to expect in the area and most else. The house was charming and very interesting with the furniture and Victorian style, pretty cool. Arrangements were made to accommodate guests very will with lots of clean towels and fully stocked kitchen, etc. The house was warm (as mentioned in previous reviews) so we bought fans at ACE hardware and left them there for the next guests to have. But that is Idaho. If you get a warm spell, it’s warm in the house. The AC worked great on the ground floor but did not cool the bedrooms. With the fans not an issue.
The master bed was the main issue and reason for my lower rating. It was so uncomfortable my wife and I barely slept. The mattress sagged and was not supported well in the fram by the box springs. I thought we would crash through the frame every time I rolled over. I’m a stocky guy at 6’ 225# but the bed was bad even for my wife.
There were also bats in the house. We came home to a bat in the house two days/evenings in a row. I used a bathroom towel to cover/capture each time, after some effort, and put the bat outside. Not sure where they get in, so we covered the larger opening registers on the ground floor, which appeared to be the only access.
I have two young children and they were pretty upset with the bat flying around until it was caught. They are rampant with rabies as well, so that was the main concern. But it is not something I would say was a known issue.
I would consider staying again if the mattress were replaced and they had a resolution for the bats, haha, and would have liked to have rated it higher since it was a fun stay and accommodated a lot of family/friends coming over during the day time to visit with lots of soft furniture and huge dining table. Unfortunately after 5 days with hardly any sleep because of the mattress it affected the trip enough I have to mention it.
Owner was responsive and easy to deal with. Very easy drive to the Lake and for food at the local Subway and soon to be cafe. Walking distance to the tabernacle and LDS Church if that is helpful.
I'm sorry for the trouble you had. The bats have never been an issue in the house. It is likely they entered when an outside door was left open, even for just a short time around dusk when the bats are out. Or perhaps some got in when the new furnace and AC were installed. In over 20 years the owners and guests have never before seen bats in the house. The pillow mattresses and box springs in the house were purchased new last year, we will check to see if something is broken in the master bedroom. The AC is newly installed this year and is a top of the line extra large AC compressor, which is larger than necessary for the size of the house. There are also ceiling fans in every bedroom. Perhaps the NEST thermostat was not adjusted properly during your stay. Again we are sorry you felt your stay was not quite 5 stars.
Enjoy plenty of things to do in the great outdoors all year long. Enjoy the beauty of Bear Lake and all it has to offer. Stop by the historic Paris Tabernacle for a tour during the summer months. Enjoy the Oregon Trail center for history and artifacts. This great location is a great stopping place enroute to Jackson Hole Wyoming!
