Hi Natasha Thank you for your review which we were not surprised to receive given the circumstances and outcome of your stay. As Property Managers, we have had the pleasure of hosting more than 35,000 guests in the Hunter Valley and have only had cause to evict three groups in the past 5 years, one being yours. It’s always disappointing when guests take the opportunity to place a negative review on social media when the negative experience has only been from their own stay and behaviour. The other reviews correctly share and clearly state how popular Cants Cottage is for guests, many of whom return year after year. These reviews also share the positive experience guests encounter with the caring and charming owner on arrival, who does live on site in her own private residence, more than 50metres from the guest accommodation. Furthermore, these reviews complement our management towards guests. The Property Manager attended the property because there were great concerns following your check in when two vehicles arrived, one with intoxicated guests followed by a delivery vehicle with a large inflatable structure which was not requested or approved. The structure was not only installed without permission but was also placed by the supplier in a very unsafe location which, if used by the guests, would have been dangerous. After trying to have a polite and rational discussion with you, with the request to deflate the structure, you replied that you had not read the conditions of stay and that we had ruined your party. The Property Manager and subsequently the Owner were then verbally abused by several guests who chose to hurl extremely colourful, disrespectful language from A to F in the alphabet in aggressive tones. This was totally unwarranted, shocking, and unacceptable when you are guests in a private home. It was a situation where we were left with no choice but ask that you leave and also inform our local police of the issue. Despite the Oscar winning performance from you and your guests Natasha, you failed to mention that after this unnecessary and totally unwarranted behaviour, we continued to extend goodwill ,and knowing you would need to find somewhere to stay, without hesitation, we provided you with a full refund so that you and your guests could find accommodation elsewhere. You also failed to mention that you and your guests continued to abuse both the Property Manager and Owner as you departed, yelling vulgarities, finger gesturing, threatening to write further negative reviews and flashing your body parts all the way down the driveway and even onto the main road. Our expectations of our guests are clearly explained in our Terms & Conditions and so disappointingly, we experienced a total disregard for basic manners and even the personal safety of yourself or your friends. To address your comments regarding the property and provide clarity for others, no septic water is ever part of guest use, or consumption during stay. The Cottage’s location is set on a hillside in a natural bushland setting, so apologies that our native landscape seemed to be 'very untidy’ and that there were ants in the house which does happen on occasion. The property is spacious with a huge loft bedroom and ample photography and floorplans are provided to clearly demonstrate the space on offer to our guests. We are in the business of providing happy, relaxed and enjoyable holidays in beautiful accommodation and welcome all appreciating guests. The circumstance surrounding your occupancy of the property did not permit this and unfairly, the title and description of your review in no way reflects the warm hospitality that Cants Cottage along with our professional management has offered thousands of guests staying at this wonderful property for more than a decade.
